I was just told the COBE/PO does a WT check of the elders and MS to see if the magazines are "studied" (ie. Highlighted).

he said that the c/o told them this new requirement.. "men that wanna be an elder or ministerial servant has to go out to field service on sundays.
if there is an elder or ministerial servant that is not going out to field service on sunday can lose the priviledge".

I need help
by tiredroadie inim new here, and dont know much about jw, other than what im reading.
i have my best friend who is having bible study in her home with 2 witnesses, and she is soaking it in.
she is very defensive and is getting more and more closed off.

The first thing that Bible Students are taught is that "well meaning but misguided friends and relatives will no doubt try to get you to stop studying ". The more you oppose , the more true the Witness teaching seems to be. I would commend her, be pleased for her , that she has found a faith that fulfills her needs.
But , just as you would not by a car without an independant inspection, urge her, challenge her if need be to at least look at a couple of independant websites . I would recommend Freeminds.org and JWFacts.com.
She has to come to a conclusion by herself......good luck

She is needing something otherwise her radar and alarm signals would be going off. Try to find out what need the JW's are filling. Question things she is learning from a curious "that makes no sense" standpoint.
As was said ...she is lucky to have a friend like you. Try to save her if you can. Good luck.

Are You Raising An Introvert?
by darth frosty inits not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.
it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.
this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

SOCKS FOR TOMO (Sock Drive)

socks are the most needed articles of clothing, but the least donated at shelters.
kids need socks too, so don't forget them.

Clink 3rdgen. I have no qualms telling this guy I don't go, but it's been a surprise both times, and I'm at work in a very public area. I don't mind my co-workers hearing him go on about things, and his "god is good" comments because I have let everybody know how I was treated after I left. So they already have no respect for the WT, and crazy talk is just icing on the cake.
Gregor, I think he is just hanging on. But I think he is the type that would be lost without the rules and boundaries of the religion. You know, if he wasn't a dub he'd be one heartbeat away from extreme behavior. I know several of those types. They have told me going to meetings keeps them "off the pole" if you know what I mean. **sigh**

Mr. Orkin dropped in again today just to visit. Lucky me. I know that will stop when I tell him I don't attend meetings.
Anyway, in talking about the old congregation he told me that a big group left the hall, and that there only 70+ or so "publishers" (don't ya just love that word!) left. He said there were about 110 when he was there a year ago. And frankly, the count was was NEVER that low the whole 20 yrs I was at that hall. I know of about 8 of the elderly that have died, and people do move for different reasons...but it is truly "happifying" when a congregation shrinks...for whatever reason.
