  Mommy says no Christmas

  daughter is 3 now, that's a little less than i've been on this forum.

  you can find my life story in earlier posts.

  enough to say that i have a generous amount of visitation with her.. i picked her up and was talking about the lights some of her neighbors had.

  I would explain to her that Xmas is about giving to others and thinking about others. I'd incorporate together giving some "toys for tots," or donating at a local hospital, or some organization like that which she can see that giving to those in need is a good thing and part of the holiday celebration. Look for local needs and let her decide were to donate or volunteer. Make it routine and an enjoyable. It will help her think and reason and instill a different understanding other than "Xmas is bad. I don't want bad." It's hard to criticize doing good for others.

  Randy Watters and I met up at the showing of this movie last summer. I think it is really well done and informative. Can't wait for the wide distribution of the movie.

  CAN WE SOLVE THE MYSTERY of why Watchtower doctrines changed when they changed?

  if a person gives a police report of a traumatic event, but later changes their facts during cross-examination, these changes are used to impeach the honesty of the witness.. this impeachment flows from a logical understanding facts must match reality without contradiction.. lets examine the history of the watchtower corporations leaders with a view to the harmony of.

  true teaching over a period of years from 1879-1942.. "even though christmas is not the real anniversary of our lord's birth, but more properly the annunciation day or the date of his human begetting (luke 1:28), nevertheless, since the celebration of our lord's birth is not a matter of divine appointment or injunction, but merely a tribute of respect to him, it is not necessary for us to quibble particularly about the date.

  we may as well join with the civilized world in celebrating the grand event on the day which the majority celebrate - "christmas day.

  During Rutherford's time you had a reinterpretation of Bible prophecy to fit JW's as God's organization. Fred Franz continued this and used the Bible to "prove" that organizational changes were prophecised and proof of the Watchtower's appontment

  ^^^ This. They made this into a war cry. And the end was "soooo close," as the years ticked by they were so invested in this mindset, re-evaluating the dogma was something they hoped they didn't have to do. They dug their heels in and put their blinders on and kept their "eyes on the prize."

  Thanksgiving has been a conflicted holiday. I remember having turkey at my brother's house then going to school or work and people would ask "How was your Thanksgiving Holiday?" I'd think, "did I celebrate Thanksgiving?" What a ridiculous waste of energy.

  An elder's wife texted me if I had plans today. I said yes, my friends are cooking (only 1 remaining JW, the host), all I have to do is bring wine. She actually said everybody was busy today so they are "doing it on Saturday." Okaaay. And the CO is coming over on Friday. Okaaay.

  Everyone does what they want.

  Bill Cosby - too much smoke for no fire?

  it seems like the list of people who are accusing him of rape and sexual assault is growing every day.

  i'm skeptical of single accusations but the number of people and the similar stories seem overwhelming now.. it's not a conviction but to the court of public opinion ... guilty?.

  I haven't seen it on the TV myself, just seems to be popping up all over on news feeds. **sigh** Of course innocent until proven otherwise, but geez...he is really starting to look like a predator. Drugging and forcing himself on an incapacitated woman is a power trip; not just actions of a weak adulterous man.

  It will sort out in a court of law to be sure, but I'm thinking where there is smoke there is fire. Bill, seriously, what part of drug and rape was okay?

  I've asked them "name one thing, anything, that JW's have uniquely predicted that came true. And none of this "invisible" business either." They come up with nothing.

  New requirement to become an Elder or Ministerial Servant!

  it has been a few months since i hear this from an elder.

  he said that the c/o told them this new requirement.. "men that wanna be an elder or ministerial servant has to go out to field service on sundays.

  if there is an elder or ministerial servant that is not going out to field service on sunday can lose the priviledge".

  I was just told the COBE/PO does a WT check of the elders and MS to see if the magazines are "studied" (ie. Highlighted).
