It is very possible crumpet. JWS are warned (cautioned) about higher learning (INSTITUTIONS, not college courses) because pursuing the HIGHER education that takes yrs of study and dedication can and alot of times cause individuals to FORGET about God. Some stop seeking FIRST the Kingdom and when that happens ...well it is a domino effect, worldly ways tend to creep in unknowingly and the next thing a person knows their priorities are all backwards. Again that could and is very likely to happen but it is not a definite. Some manage to pull it off (fortunately) but are doing it at a very high risk to themselves. Just my opinion.

Is it possible to go to university and still come out a dub?
by Crumpet inthe reason i ask is that my best friend all the time i was growing up was a boy about 5 years older than i was.
his parents were at lot less strict than mine and as he was super brainy after he finished public school and sixth form he went off to one of the country's finest universities.
the only thing that bugs me now about this is that i know he was incredibly clever - how could he go to uni and still be a dub?

Separated and dating a JW

am really confused about my jw boyfriend attitude .. am separated and with a child .i went through a really bad time after separation (7 months ago)and one of the reasons the relashionship wth my husband ended is because i fell in love with my actual boyfriend ..was love @1st sight ...we didnt make love 4 obvious reasons related to his faith but @the beginning things were much easier :he allowed me to touch him in his intimate parts ,we touched each other (we saw each other naked without making love once)and was very exciting...but the more we were getting involved the accraction was growing more and more and even if i am from a different belief (converted to islam)we agreed that nobody should try to change the other or impose anything ,,,but now i feel he is a bit selfish >he doesnt allow me to touch him under the belt (telling me that recently he discovered he is not allowed to do that )he doesnt even touch my breast because he is not supposed to(after he did before)he is 30 years old ,very good looking man and he keeps telling me when he sees me (once a month :which is even too much)that he cant resist me !but is actually the opposite !!
!he is resisting me ...before i will be able to committ to him i will have to wait 3 years which means also have sex >i dont know and i dont think i will be able to resist after 5 years of marriage and ''regular'' sex life //i am tired of seeing him once a month because his family doesnt know about us (he tells me that if they knew they would tell him to stop helping them with money and to stay with me :but he doesnt wantto make that choice,since he was young he supported the family //on top of that after marriage he doesnt want to have children and he tells me that i have already 1 child (we spoke many times bout that and to make sure he wont have children he wants to do an operation that will sterilize him ).

Yes i agree. From experience however and im sure i am not the only one, I too have been caught up in situations knowing I was doing wrong and stopped it and turned things around. People are not perfect. From what I read of her experience he got her involved in a terrible situation and now he is trying to fix it on his end. The right thing for him to do is to tell her the truth. Maybe it is exactly as I figured and the truth told to her would be the ONLY thing he can do. Too answer what would be worse. In my opinion it would be taking another mans wife!

If I may put my two cents in it sounds to me that he realizes he got involved in a relationship that he shouldnt have. JW are encouraged through the bible to marry ONLY in the lord. They are encouraged from the bible not to have interfaith relationships (Marraige, boyfriend, girlfriend..)
Not that there is anything wrong with you, let me say it again..Not that there is anything wrong with you, it is Gods word that instructs them to Mary only in the lord for good reasons. A Good example is with King Solomon. I personally think he got caught up in his disire which NOONE is immune from. I believe he stopped it before that desire became fertile. Again it is not you hun!

by Annie Over inwhen i got off for lunch today i decided to go to the walmart deli and get something to eat.
it is a huge store, groceries, a bakery, mc donalds, a bank , eye center, beauty shop, a great deli, and a huge garden center.
i had taken back a 80 gig hard drive dvd recorder ( i couldn't figure out how to hook up <smile> and had received 238.00. i picked up a couple of things in the store then went to the deli.

Anewme i understand. You did say that jesus was once recored as saying we should pray to God privately which is true, however it is also recorded of him PUBLICLY PRAISING God as well. Your opinion is ok, it is yours but i just dont agree with your explaination of her post......
This woman's simple and childlike relationship with her God is something the Witnesses foster.
It is a badge of recognition to still have it when one is approaching 40 or 50 years old.
So, to publish that kind of innocent wide eyed thankyou for her intact valuables on a web page and direct it to God is somehow supposed to make her appear very religious and righteous,That is what you said and that is what i feel to be pretty shocking.
