I left the organization in 83. I was a deputy sheriff, which I dont think the organization would have approved of back in 82 they didnt want witnesses carrying guns. I read what I want. Anything that I find interesting. I've looked for truth all over. I've found no satisfying answers to the big questions of life, where we came from where were going. Is there a god or did we evolve. Or did we evolve as part as gods will. I play in a band and ride a harley. I dont think I've done anything to be disfellowshiped for. Probably lived a more honest decent life than some in the organization based on what I hear from family members telling me gossip about their witness friends. Life isnt that exciting outside of the watertower society. I just have more time to do what I want to do. And after all, it is my life not theirs.

What have you been up to?
by ShaunaC inlife as a jw is very...well...sheltered.
many experiences are outright condemned.
still, when others don't have specific rules against them, we more often than not, at least i did, choose not to engage in them so as not to stumble someone who would not approve.. very soon after my exodus from the wt i decided that life is an adventure.

I can see the love
by Honesty ini pulled a few muscles in my back last week and couldn't make it to church on sunday.
a deacon friend called and offered to usher and pass the (gasp) offering plate for me.
another friend called and prayed with me.

If I had seen anything like this in any of the JW congregations I attended Satan would not have been able to pull me away from Jehovah's organization and lured me into 'Apostate Christendom.'
I think you should have left because they are false prophets.

New to JW's and need to ask some questions....
by missk_ensington ini'm a new poster as well as being new to jw's (currently having bible studies) and i have been researching the religion to make sure i go into it fully understanding what it is about, and what implications it would have on my life.
i am 20, a single parent with a child and although i was brought up being told 'the truth' by my mum, only have early memroes of attending kh.
they are now trying to suck me back in but i have grave reservations and would lke everyone's opinion/view/advice.

African JWs Can Keep "Messianic" Attire Because It's There Culture!
by minimus inmy mom went to the sunday meeting and a missionary that was formerly in the congregation was showing (boring) slides about the "work" in africa.
when he showed some pictures of some witnesses, they were dressed in what he called "messianic attire".
he told the audience that it was no big deal that they were being allowed to continue this style of dress by the society since it was merely seen as "cultural".

When she told me of this, I said, "then celebrating birthdays should be allowed too since it's "cultural" to do so".......She agreed.--------- What's your thinking on this one???
X MASS AND THANKSGIVING TOO.

WT's PATHETIC FUNERAL OUTLINE
by Mary inthis is supposed to be an outline for a jw funeral talk.
i'm not sure if this has been posted before but i thought i'd post here for your viewing pleasure.
funeral discourse.
-

If the talk lasted 30 minutes, approximately 3 or 4 mintues would be spent talking about the deceased. That's it. The rest of the talk is to promote the Borg and preach at everyone there. No wonder so many "worldly" people are disgusted at Witness funerals.........
What a wonderful organization Jehober has given us.

Odd announcements for disfellowshipping
by Jerohobobonadad ini've not heard a great deal of df announcements to be fair, but i remember when i was about 9 or 10, i was visiting a friend during the summer vacation.
at the midweek meeting, his elder dad got up to give an announcement.
he began by mentioning a large plant, from the cities botanical gardens that had made the news, that flowered once every 50 years.

Divorce Rate of Those When Young??
by buffalosrfree inmy daughters were at a club the other evening ( saturday) and ran into 5 witnesses they knew as younger children, they had all been married and were in the process of getting divorced.
four were men, 1 woman, two of the men we had known literally for years and i had liked them all.
i had told my children when they got married that it wouldn't be long before they were married.

When your married at such a young age you feel kind of like some of your freedom is over, all of a sudden you have to take care of someone else, when you really have not learned how to take care of yourself.
AMEN TO THAT.
