the other day i was talking religion with my bf and he said something about how the angels can't procreate.
i said, yeah they did when they saw the pretty women, had relations with them and created the nephilim before the flood.

I started out questioning everything the JW's told me.
Then I read the bible cover to cover 5 times and started questioning everything
the bible says.
Then I read Dawkins and Darwin and I question everything that they say that is religious
and not scientific.
Sooner or later you realize you dont know whats going on.
Just death and taxes.

I've never been dissfelloshiped. My witness family still talks to me.
But the fear of being dissfellowshiped did cause me to behave and make choices that
I still regret 30 years latter.
Turning down a good job with a retirement and not going to college.

Coffee Drinkers...... Why do you drink coffee?
by yknot ini am asking because i don't get the appeal!.
(preface: at hospital today, can't leave floor to get another h20 bottle, just tried drinking coffee again for the first time in 14years).

When I was in my 20's working a boring factory job they would give us a break at 1pm
and they had a coffee machine. I found the coffee would wake me up and give me energy
to make it through the rest of the day.
From there the addiction spiralled. By the time I was in my 40's I was drinking 32 oz a day.
Most everything I read says coffee is good for you.
If you do certain aggressive physical activities you might want to purge the coffe
from your system.
Coffee is a dieuretic, it causes h20 to leave your cells, since we are mostly water, not having
water in your cells is bad.
If you try to run long distances a mile or more, or exercize vigirously
coffee in your system can cause you
to cramp up, maybe even have a heart attack.
Nowadays for every 8 ounces of coffee I drink I drink 8 ounces of water.
I work midnights so about 2 am I have 16 ounces of coffee. Most days thats all the caffine I have.

by rebel8 inthis is not really a jw issue but rather a xian issue.. when i hear someone say that i feel a physical revulsion and aggravation similar to someone taking sandpaper directly to my spine.. as much as i know human nature...i am still really shocked anyone has the arrogance and stupidity to utter that sentiment.. i mean, ok, if you in your middle class/healthy/suffering-free life can conclude everything in your life happens for a reason, well i pity you...but doncha watch the news?.

I think many people say it to try to give the person with bad luck hope or to get
such person off the pity pot.
But no saying works 100% of the time.
There are some people that go around saying "man, your fuxd dude".
Is that better? Even though it may be more true and correct.
Reality can be very cruel.
Dark clouds sometimes have silver linings.
Sometimes something good comes out of something bad.
You got to keep trucking.
Hatti and New Orleans happened because those are bad places to live for Hurricanes.
I've known a lot of people die from cancer who smoked like chimneys.
Thats a reason.

I dont think you are going to find many Christians on this board.
First of all Jehovahs witnesses is not a Christian religion.
And any Jw's that left the hall and stumbled into Christianity few are hanging out here.
It seems like most JW's when they escape the hall become atheist or agnostic.
The kingdumb hall is a breeding ground for atheism and agnostisim.
The publishing company told us what was wrong with all the other religions and
beliefs, that doesnt leave anything left buth Dawkinsim.
You would probably have as much luck finding Budhist and Hindus on this site
as you would Christians. I dont think your going to find Budhinst Hindus or Christians here.
They do have Christian support groups, google it.
Christians believe Jesus is God. Christians believe in the trinity.
Christians believe in the bible.

I learned a long time ago back in the early 80's not to set myself up.
I dont let anyone lie to me, that way I wont get mad when they do.
I do most things myself.
Those I cant do, I pay my money and take my chances.
If your sink is plugged go to a rental store and rent a snake for 35$ for 4 hours and un plug it yourself.
Or go buy a snake at home depot.
Right now my Harley is broke, I have a problem with the regulator charging the battery.
I put a new regulator on still the problem presents itself intermitently.
I hesitate to take it to a shop because I fear they will take my money and it still wont be fixed.
Business's will rip you off, either on purpose or out of their own ignorance.
When I would take my car in to get free on, the lies repair shops will tell to get you
to let them tear apart your system, and if you get one to give you freon, they give
you freon without any selant.
I googled freon and now put my own in and when you put it in with sealant it last
for years not 3 months.
If there is something I cant repair, i try to watch the repair person.
And next time do it myself, after 57 years I can fix most anything.

Jehovah's Witnesses---A Religion That Frowns On Everything!
by minimus inyou can't do anything in the religion!
you can't hold hands with your spouse during prayers.. you can't wear a logo themed tee shirt when doing menial outdoor work at a "quick build" kingdom hall.. you have to wear a suit and tie or a dress when visiting a watchtower factory.. you can't enjoy an older recording of a favorite talk and pass it around because "the faithful slave" disapproves of that.. you can't further your education with college.. you shouldn't want to get married or have children as the end is soooo close.. they suck the life and enjoyment of people.....and i've only mentioned a fraction of things jws frown on.. .

I used to get so mad at my mother when I was younger for bringing that evil religion
into the house. I remember being very angry many times and saying to myself, everything is
not wrong, everything is not bad.
I read many self help books after leaving the tower to reprogram my brain.
I even did self hypnosis, Silva mind control to reprogram my brain and bury
all the negativity.
I would listen to cassette programs, like you cant afford the luxury of a negative thought.
Sometimes I still pull out books like "You cant afford the luxury of a negative thought" by
Peter McWilliams and "Your Erroneous Zones" by Wayne Dyer, so I can be sure I am not falling back
into negative thinking.
Negative thinking, the sky is falling , nothing is good, the world is a bad place
is the only kind of thinking I new until I was 31 years old.
I even went to AA for 7 years to learn new ways to think.
And I was no more of a drunk than the average garden variety JW.
What a terrible curse that organization is on humanity.

An Irony Concerning God and Evolution
by DT inmany theists have come to regard evolution as a handy tool that god has used in constructing the world as we know it.
i have to admit that this view has some appeal.
it conveniently deals with the scientific evidence for evolution while still making room for a creator to account for the current gaps in scientific understanding.. if i were a deity about to prepare a universe for intelligent life that could provide the adoration i crave, i would likely regard the process of evolution as a great way to to save myself some work.

You can find evidence and books to support what ever you want to believe.
Earth is a soul school.
Whatever you choose to believe evolution, creation, aliens, panspermia when you
get deeper into it, it will be dejavu. Just like being a witness.
The theories all are deficient none of them hold water.
There has to be an allowance for miracles, a designer, creator.
Some of the things you are touching on in your post, to me seem to be touching
on the mysteries of mormanism.
