  NOT REALLY SURPRISED!

  well, it had to happen one day - only claire and i thought we'd be somewhat older and karl would have finished his university course.

  karl telephoned earlier this week to let us know we're to become grandparents!

  as karl is only 21 and has just started university i felt like reading the riot act - but what's the point!

  i'm love vegetables and am tolerant of fruit save for strawberries when they're in season.. but i love acorn squash with butter and brown sugar and a small handful of walnuts or pecans.. .

  Agnostic or Athiest--which makes more sense?

  i can see how someone could be agnostic in their view.

  who knows, who cares?

  thinking that perhaps "god" is just a spiritual santa claus for people who are afraid of death, etc..... but atheism?

  At least that is how it seems to me. I don't know how my eyes do all the amazing things that they do. No one has been able to "build" a perfect substitute for the eye. If you lose an eye, you will never have the same vision again. To think it is the developement of a cosmic burp, doesn't seem very realistic. Something that magnificent had to have a creator. Don't you think?

  A reminder to all of you....

  shannon here.... a confessed "lurker" for a very, very, long time and a rare poster to the board......i just wanted to drop a quick note to all of you.. please keep doing what you're doing..providing a refuge for so many.

  you all make me feel reassured that if in 4 years from now i may have a breakdown (because deprogramming is a lifelong ailment) and need to find strength and encouragement, or even just someone to hear my story and believe me...i will always know that you are all here.

  no judgment, no criticism...but instead providing a way for anyone who visits this board a little challenge at times, a large amount of humor, some psychological services...and a great big dose of the real truth.. you guys are great...you make me laugh, you make me smile and you make me feel fantastic about my decision to leave by your constant reassurance that truly living is all about thinking for yourself.. i'll be sure to start posting more regularly because i'd like to start to get to know you guys better and in turn become a source of comfort, wisdom and humor to others that have gone through what we have.. hugs to you all.. shannon.

  Did The "Titles" In The Hall Bother You?

  i always hated the fact that the jws claim they don't take on titles for status and then do just that.

  pioneer,special pioneer, auxillary pioneer, elder, ms,co, do, po etc.

  I always hated the fact that the JWs claim they don't take on titles for status and then do just that. Pioneer,Special Pioneer, Auxillary Pioneer, Elder, MS,CO, DO, PO etc. Did this bother you? When you put it this way it bothers me now.

  Fear of armagedon = Fear of hell. Are these two the same?

  it amazed me at first that the jw`s taught that hell was a man made doctrine.

  actually, i quite agreed with it.

  it is a repugnant doctrine.. as the few years rolled on though, it always nagged me that the fear of dying an abrupt, horrific & violent death at armagedon was basically the same thing.

  I mean, so many people got baptised just prior to 1975. Would they have done so if there was no 'imminent' armaggedon threat. I think many would have not even considered it if such a threat were not in place at the time.
