they none of 'em seem to figure out how bad it's gonna be when they play it.
a pastor, hurt hands and a smile...that's all you really need.. the doc knows what he's talkin' about, as usual.. like he says, "people only look at you once and then never see you again.

Ah, CoCo, my Dear! I love you and thank you!
I think the conversation and music in hell would be far more engaging... but perhaps, that is the point.
Ha!
Love!

hi everyone, the last couple of weeks i have been reading about meditation and have tried several times.one of the times i did a native american guided meditation and actually had a unusual experience, seeing a wolf and a man dressed in victorian clothing,of course i had my eyes closed but this was different then a dream,it wasn't scary or anything,i hope nobody thinks i'm nuts,,i was just wondering if anyone else has experience with this,,being a witness most of my life i have been checking out other forms of spirituality, and meditation has been around for thousands of years and seems beneficial to those that do it....thank you for your thoughts.
Wide Awake,
A focus on the breath is a good excercise to get you started. And yes, you want to actually pay attention to your breath. Notice how it feels... how it sounds... how you can feel it everywhere, not just in your chest. So... yes... both are correct, I suppose. Be aware of AND focus on your breath. Your breath is not exactly what it is all about (but then again, it is.)
After you are familiar enough with the process, you can go into meditation anywhere, and at nearly any time. You really can meditate while washing dishes, for example. You don't have to be in a certain position in a certain environment, and you don't have to focus on your breath once your meditative state comes naturally.
The CD that is the best I have found on the subject is by Dr. Weil and Jon Kabat Zinn: Meditation for Optimum Health. http://www.amazon.com/Meditation-Optimum-Health-Mindfulness-Breathing/dp/1564558827
I hope this helps.

Interesting visuals, my Dear CoCo. Seems the sailor's hell is also his redemption. I can see heaven with a red sky (if I can see heaven at all.)
Love,
Baba.
i have just watched an address by a dr,.
and he talks about the brain and the importance, the vital importance of.
nutrition.. most jw in my experience are traditional (as 'my mother used to do') or poor eaters.
I guess you pegged it... yes this is indeed utterly true and very well-phrased observations. Well said.
Love,
Baba.
the recent socal rain storms had me needing to go to a launrdomat to dry some clothes.
so i get inside and see that one of the friendly neighborhood jehovah's witnesses has left a little dish of spiritual food.
being the benevolent soul that i am, i took my handy pen and added some additional spice to the bland spiritual food offered by the watchtower.. .
Excellent work!
And... since when is there a kiddie page?!
hey,.
i've been lurking on this website for a few years now and finally made an account.
i have serious doubts about the organization in general and still have not made up my mind about what to believe.
Hello and welcome!

Absolutely beautifully said, Poppers, and I agree. Do not judge the thoughts, nor judge yourself for having thoughts! Assign them no importance. As the analogy I used earlier, see your thoughts as leaves floating down a stream (or bubbles floating to the top of an acquarium.) Just watch them go... and return to paying attention to your breath.
And do NOT get discouraged. I thought that I couldn't meditate, and I had tried several times over the course of several years... when I finally got excellent (and simple!) instructions and saw just how easy it really is for anyone to do. It seems that everyone just starting thinks, "I can't do this! I can't stop thinking!" but when you allow the thoughts to pass through with no recognition and return to the breath... you are doing it right.
JeffT, a very dear friend quoted that to me! I agree! A prayer is asking, and meditation is listening for the answer.

Excellent primer, my Dear Poppers!

Meditation is marvelous. It is greatly beneficial in pain management and healing.
Physically, it is just learning the wondrous act of letting the left side of your brain (which chatters on endlessly) HUSH for a while... and allowing the right side of your brain (the creative, artistic, and healing side) have its own "say" and experiences for a change.
I practice what is known as "mindfulness" meditation (every day) which begins by being aware of your breath, and letting any thoughts that arise just float by (unjudged) like leaves in a stream.
Love,
Baba.
