there are those who had perfectly acceptable blood-transfusions way back when, and those who smoked before that ban.

things that were once fine become verboten.

of course them banning liquor is particularly difficult to imagine, as all of the in-depth accounts of bethel depict bethelites imbibing like crazy.

as much as i worship the man and as much as i love his song-writing, my favorite track and/or performance of his is an old and oft performed tune (performed by such greats as johnny mathis and nina simone, in fact...).

this was inspired by another thread, where freetosee told of a young witness baptised at the tender age of 9, and disfellowshipped at age 12!!!

the mind goes wild at what a 12-year-old should ever be disfellowshipped for.

how would a kid be so unrepentant they would deserve losing their family and friends?

Help! Suggestions on what to say to a Niece who is Studying...

i have been trying to prepare myself for an upcoming visit with a beloved neice who is studying.

the situation is this: my beloved nephew, her husband (he is like a son to me) was baptized and "faded" many years ago.

unfortunately, he has always vassilated on the subject of whether the jw's have "the (t)ruth".
