i'm sure this has been discussed.
i was wondering what attracts a lurker/n00b to post for the first time.
i made my first post in someone else's thread eschewing the "hi, i'm new" thing.. for anyone, particularly the lurkers/noobies:.
I dont post cuz i dont have anything worthwhile to add to the mix----
if i ever think of something original or worth hearing i will jump in
James, that doesn't stop the rest of us from posting.....feel free to jump in anytime!!!!!
the march 15, 1980 watchtower article "choosing the best way of life" contains, on pages 17-18, a partial text of the talk.
in modern times such eagerness, commendable in itself, has led to attempts at setting dates for the desired liberation from the suffering and troubles that are the lot of persons throughout the earth.
with the appearance of the book life everlasting-in freedom of the sons of god, and its comments as to how appropriate it would be for the millennial reign of christ to parallel the seventh millennium of man's existence, considerable expectation was aroused regarding the year 1975. there were statements made then, and thereafter, stressing that this was only a possibility.
Terry, I read those letters, replies, more letters, replies, and ultimately a lynching......very interesting
I wonder if the elder who wrote those original letters feels a bit vindicated by the elimination of the book study meeting every week....I know there were other factors, but this is a great example of someone losing priviledges for not agreeing with the GB only to have the GB make changes that agree with the thinking he originally got in trouble for.
i say this because i have been helped so much by the many posts that represent the way i feel about the wtbts.
it is good to know that there are so many people that feel this way.
i am currently inactive and dont comment but do attend meetings for the sake of the family.. my wife is still in and i have a daughter and one on the way.
Welcome my co-Northern Floridian.....wonder if we know each other????? I was born and raised here, a member of a prominent family of witnesses.....
after a year of reading all of your experiences and expressions i decided it was time for me to start sharing some of mine.
hopefully they can benefit others, like many of yours have benefited me!
being raised in the wtbts, the jehovahs witness docrine and culture really was the prism from which all of my experiences and understanding of life originated.
Welcome to the forum.....I like your smurf alot.
in the 1970's i was a teenager.
i wasn't that big into disco- although i enjoyed kc and the sunshine band as well as earth, wind, and fire.
but my really big love in music was always rock n' roll, blues , stuff like that !
Wow, what a trip down memory lane, just about all of these mentioned are bands that I enjoyed listening to. But being a musician (I play guitar and drums), and being in a quasi band when I was younger, the band that I always listened to the most was Rush. Those guys are real musicians and can reproduce live on stage what they do in the studio, in fact, I enjoy the live version of their songs better than the studio version.
Also, who can forget about "Frampton Comes Alive", did anybody NOT have that album, I wore mine out. Van Halen also showed up in the 70's, Eddies guitar solo (Eruption) blew me away.
Also Johnny Winter, he was a little bit of an acquired taste with his unigue playing style, but I really liked his stuff. And I really like Blue Oyster Cult (still do).....
anyone have any ideas that wouldn't get me arrested?
If your carring the mic for the WT study, during a 2 paragraph reading go to the bathroom and turn the mic on......make sure you hold it nice and low next to the toilet so the sound comes thru good!!!
anyone have any ideas that wouldn't get me arrested?
Instead of the closing song, play Highway to Hell (AC/DC).......that should do it!
anyone have any ideas that wouldn't get me arrested?
Arrested, no......Disfellowshipped, yes
apparently the current president has started work on his autobiography which he hopes to have ready for release when he leaves office.. he's run into a few issues though ... apparently his coloring-in went over the lines in quite a few places and he had trouble cutting out the popup shapes with the plastic safety scissors he was allowed to use..
I think politicians rather than being respected and revered should be criticised and held accountable, rediculed when necessary, shot when appropriate.
*Rant On*
I agree with this statement, thats why Nancy Pelosi should be shot for blocking the bill that would enable continental shelf drilling from even being voted on by congress. Doesn't matter if you like Bush or not, this is obviously "playing politics" trying to keep Americans suffering so that you will vote for a liberal president in November. I am not advocating here whether you should vote democratic or republican, I'm just pointing out the fact that this is a dirty way of trying to influence the vote. It's hurting alot of good people who are struggling to buy food, gas, etc....not to mention making their mortgage payments. Why do we vote congressmen into office......to represent us, Nancy, get out of the way and let this bill go to vote.
*Rant Off*
