****How can an individual be drilled 3 times a week at 5 meetings
a week including conventions, field service and the complete
Jehovah's Witness life style for years on end and—not be
affected for the rest of their lives?*****
I agree that it will probably literally be with me the rest of my life. How do you spend your entire life thus far in something that consuming and NOT carry it with you forever?
but my thought is this....do you really HAVE TO get rid of it completely? It is your history and your past, and what makes you who you are. You don't have to let it control you, but embracing our lives (and history) is part of life and learning.....
as time goes by I am able to separate myself from the destructive influence of the org. more and more. It holds less and less power over me. It's a wonderful feeling looking back and seeing the progress I've made.

NOT REALLY SURPRISED!
by Dansk inwell, it had to happen one day - only claire and i thought we'd be somewhat older and karl would have finished his university course.
karl telephoned earlier this week to let us know we're to become grandparents!
as karl is only 21 and has just started university i felt like reading the riot act - but what's the point!

great letters.
his next reply will probably either open a door OR will nail that door shut. there usually isn't a grey area - just black and white with jws.
I hope he stops and thinks about the issue clearly. -

good letter Jeff. but......
I agree with others here. I think you need to wait a day or two, re-read the letter, and then take some of the emotion out of it. You really don't want to take them to court right? I think you just want to move on with your life and be left alone.
they will read that letter and laugh at you for sounding "so ridiculous" in their warped opinions. I totally understand the anger part, and if you can figure out how to sue successfully ( and affordably) for slander then let me know and I'll join that party. until then, they are small individuals with a false sense of authority.
maybe just let those that you really care about know how you feel and then let the old buzzards do whatever the hell they want. there going to anyway. -

by onesong inhe's a good friend of mine who will have plenty to add here.

" story and lots of insight!.

for Christians: How did you decide on the Bible?
by BlackSwan of Memphis infor those of you who are christian and accept the bible as nothing less then the word of god, how did you come to that conclusion?
how much research did you do into the bible to get to the point where you sat back and said, this is it?
or was it zero research and more a leap of faith?.

******While I thus far don't agree with the basic idea that the bible is the word of God, I genuinely appreciate what people have thus far contributed and would genuinely appreciate more thoughts on this topic. And I believe that there are a few others who would also like to hear these thoughts.****
I concur.
I'm still waiting to hear more on this topic also! so btt...... -

What is the difference between a beneficial religion and a damaging one?
by jwfacts inwhat is the difference between religion that benefits its members and one that harms them?
most people would agree that a religion that resorts to terrorism is damaging.
most here would also agree that the wts is a damaging religion.

ummmm....
as of yet - I haven't found a *beneficial* religion that isn't also damaging in one way or another. -

*****they've never shared what that experience was for them. I'm not saying this to have someone share something they'd rather keep private. If that's the case, that's cool with me - but I am genuinely curious about these experiences I hear about.******
to say "I just don't get it" only makes me doubt xianity even more.
