amazing story Sib.
thanks for sharing. it must have felt amazing to walk out on those two idiots!
how did your wife and kids handle you wanting to leave the org? did they all just follow you out?
I'm so happy that your kids have adjusted so well. we left a year and a half ago and it's been kind of hard on our kids. (loss of family and friends) I worry about that sometimes even though they have made some great new friends.
hope to read more of your posts in the future....

Upsizing your life...
by AuldSoul inevery time you go to a fast food restaurant they ask you a standard question: what size?
now, they are talking about deep-fried transfatty acid sticks and flavored sugar water.. i have noticed a lot of people have had the same struggle i have had: life as a spokesperson for the greatest person in the universe was a pretty big life.
how do i replace that?.

so sorry to hear about your grandma...I have an awesome one like that also.
I would go get her some *vitamin water* - it's the healthy version of gatorade. It will keep her hydrated and has electrolytes in it. You can get it at health food stores and I would pick up a bottle of *trace mineral drops* there also. they supply every mineral your body needs if you are sick or in danger of becoming dehydrated. you can add just a few drops to the vitamin water. they are very salty tasting so you don't need more than a few drops.
usually after you get something like that in a body, appetite will return shortly after that.
hope this helps even just a little bit!

My Personal Experiences thus far
by Ken O ini was brought up around the "truth" as a child.
my parents studied some then later after they were divorced, we (mom, sis and i) moved in with my grandparents, who were inactive witnesses.
though inactive, they still touted all the wts lingo and doctrine.

what a story Ken O! thanks for sharing....
I don't know how much good my thoughts will be but I'll share them with you. I left the wts after my hubby took the time to help me see the light. His story and threads are under the user name ithinkisee. It was a LONG, HARD road for him. It only took me researching the subject of 607 to see the lies and everything came crashing down. It was terrifying to me. My advice to you is to reassure your love to your wife and kids. Become the best dad and husband you ever could be. Help her out, rub her back, take over with the kids, offer to cook dinner, etc. Those things on my husbands part helped tremendously as far as my willingness to listen to him and his concerns about the org.
I know some people will tell you to make sure you want to continue this relationship before you invest time into helping her out - but I don't think that's something you can do at this point. My husband and I were literally at the breaking point when he mentally checked out of the org. and it's been a long tough ride up until now rebuilding our life together. I've found though that where we were in our relationship at that point is not what we had the potential to be - which is awesome now. I think the fact that your wife was willing to honor your choice of friends even if she didn't agree with it shows there is some reasonableness on her part.
there are so many people here in your situation - lots of sympathetic ears.
keep us up to date on what happens with her and your family....
I wish you success.

for the ladies
by sspo indid all of you "sisters" when you were single and growing up in the congregation .
always dream about marrying a bethelite or encouraged to marry one.
since they were viewed as "gods".. i remember many years ago single sisters constantly took trips to bethel with the hope .

ha ha! I grew up going to DC's at Yankee Stadium. the bethel *brothers* would swarm the place passing out there phone numbers. gag! I hated bethelites who did that. they thought they were such a catch....
funny thing is I met ithinkisee when he was a bethelite. (I was dragged to bethel the day we met by a friend who liked another bethelite that ithinkisee was friends with.)
crazy. my bethelite got me to leave the cult so I guess in the long run it all worked out! -

Anti-witnessing
by Highlander induring my time as a j-dub, it was encouraged to take every opportunity to informal witness with people.
a good example would be to witness to a co-worker.. i avoided this as much as possible when i was a dub.
if the topic of religion came up at work i would try to change the topic or gracefully exit the conversation.. now that i'm far removed from this cult, i find myself taking every opportunity i can to anti-witness against the j-dubs.

I did some anti-witnessing today.
I was in the library and there is always this table with free books they are giving away. low and behold, there was a bunch of wit books there. I collected them all together and threw them away in a trash can that was deep enough that no one could pick them out easily.
it felt damn good. -

Suffering as Art and Pain Found Within Beauty
by kristyann inhey everyone, i am working on a paper that i am writing for school.
i am taking a short story that i have read and want to point out the fact that it shows suffering as art, and it shows that there is a type of beauty within pain.
the problem is, i want to compare it to other works of art (books, music, films, paintings, sculptures, etc.

****I remember another passage in Narziss und Goldmund where he describes the identity of pleasure and pain on a woman's face.****
this reminds me of the times during a birth ( I was working as midwives assistant) that many of the mom's partners would say something to the effect that the noises a woman makes in labor (pain) are identical to the noises she would make during sex (pleasure)
which leads me to another idea Kristyann.....the experience of birthing women. most women will say that birth is painful but also one of the most beautiful experiences of their lives.
poetry in motion.... -

this is an unfair generalization of rastafarians
I do know about the *stereotypes* of rasta folks - but it doesn't apply to all - just like some of the other ridiculous stereotypes towards other cultures
we have friends (very white friends) who host reggae artists in our home town. these folks come and stay in there home for weeks at a time and do shows locally. I've partied with them and haven't found them to be homophobes or rude to women. once everyone in the room is feeling the *one love* rasta men have been VERY *kind* to me.... ;)
