That is really good news!
My one daughter had really dry hair that was breaking off and would never grow. I added a good multi-vitamin and EFA'a (essential fatty acids.) It's a liquid supplement of omegas 3-6-9 and it's good for TONS of things for our bodies. Well, her hair is amazing now! I take omegas also and my hair, skin, and nails have been awesome.
It's at health food stores and you can get a flavored liquid supplement for kids.

alopecia
by BlackSwan of Memphis inhello all.. ok i'm wondering if anyone here has ever had to deal with alopecia which is bascially loss of hair.. the reason i ask is because we have noticed that our 6 year old daughter's hair seems much thinner.
at first we thought it was just because she was getting ahold of the scissors and giving herself a trim.
but we are both (her dad and i) noticing that it seems like its just plain thin and that there is hair in her bed in the morning when she gets up.. i just noticed when she got out of the bath that it seems thinner at the root area.

here's a funny story!
by RichieRich inso, i posted this on another thread, but i really think it merits its own.. a few nights ago, myself and a beautiful young lady were out to dinner.
in walked a young brother i used to know quite well, who had gested with me in times past that the only reason he would leave the jws would be to find a good looking wife (shallow i know).
sure enough, he was accompanied by a group of witnesses which mostly comprised of some of the most horrid faces known to man.

wow richie. that's awesome. you most likely bawled because the situation with your mom is still so raw and nothing has really been dealt with.
having a mom that sounds similar to mine I say - PROCEED CAUTIOUSLY! While I do recommend returning her call or sending her a thank you card for that - I don't recommend driving over there yet. She is still going to fall back on her defensive cult mentality if any uncomfortable emotional issues come up, and I would think there's a good chance of those subjects coming up. If you'd like to keep your mom in your life for the long run I'd take it slow, and take it at a pace that is comfortable to you. Maybe try a few conversations and see how that goes.....
Dealing with people who are a in cult and irrational, you need to remember to protect yourself first. Don't open yourself up so much that they take advantage of you all over again.
just my 2 cents....
I think it's an amazing move on your mom's part to call and leave that message though. that's real progress Richie!! -

I agree with Auldsoul. No one here can give you a definite answer for these things. These fall under the "grey areas" that all of us as ex-jws with family still in have to deal with.
I read something yesterday that really helped me and it may be a way for you to sort this stuff out. This article talked about how there was 3 questions you can ask yourself in any given situation and it usually helps you sort things out. It's called the 10-10-10 rule.....it goes like this.
1. How is this decision going to affect me in the next 10 minutes?
2. How is this decision going to affect me in the next 10 months?
3. How is this decision going to affect me in the next 10 years?
love to you sweety. -

Whats left for me to say?
by KW13 ini can't describe what i feel, when i see my mum as a jw.
sometimes (like today) it really gets me down knowing she and millions of others are living a life that is not going anywhere.. she's been to the british musuem, i've gotten e-mails from the british musuem.
we've read literature/websites/bible e.t.c.

I didn't have time to read all the posts but I think in my gut you need to back off and just leave it alone for awhile. EVEN if she brings something up, just give a nonchalant yes or no answer and leave it be. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to here that I've been so wrong for so long from my CHILD! It's got to be a hard pill to swallow for her.
live your life and just be happy. I honestly think we apostates give ourselves too much credit sometimes for "getting people out." It's a choice each individual makes on their own. All you can do is be happy with yourself. -
