amen to this.
most jw's I know (my own family included) were/are extremely dysfunctional.
my parents have displayed the biggest hypocritical behavior I think I've ever seen in my life.
sad but true.
it's so much easier to point the finger somewhere else....

Why do witnesses tell others how to live their lives, yet their own homes..
by The Dragon inare in turmoil?.
i have been watching my witness mother refuse to confront her many problems with my father and brothers...instead running out at every opportunity to knock on her nieghbor's doors and tell them how some men in new york think they should be living their lives and running their household, calling it the "truth"...all while anyone who knows her knows what a mess her home life is.. .
for one i think she should be a bit more selective on what she defines as truth..for two i don't think she can lead by example only empty hypocritical words.. .

My Wife Just Left Me Because of the Evil Watchtower
by rassillon inthis is very difficult to write because i am crying.
i am normally not the kind of person you will ever see cry because things don't affect me that much but this has got to be the hardest things i have ever went through.. i just got through discussing with my wife my feelings.
i guess it has been hard to hid some of the things that i have felt since i have learned that many of the wt teachings are false.

Please say hello to my wife.
by nicolaou ini've been posting here for quite a long time, so long in fact that it just doesn't feel right that my wife isn't a part of it.
earlier today i created an account for her with the username heron, she'll know why.
i'm not sure if my wife will ever post here but i would feel much more comfortable knowing she is aware that i do.. this is the one post i am going to ask her to read.. so, i'd really appreciate it if you could say hello to my lovely wife.

Martin Luther King: Beyond Vietnam - A Time to Break Silence
by SixofNine inyesterday being mlk's birthday, we probably all heard snippets of his deservedly famous "i have a dream" speech, on the news, or at news websites.
i had never taken the time to read or listen to it all, so when i found the text along with a you tube of him speaking, i blogged it.
but i came across this one today, and it made me think; this is the mlk speech that an america stuck in iraq needs to hear the most.

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
Martin Luther King Jr., Strength to Love, 1963
what an honorable human being. thanks for remembering him like this.
something resonates so deeply in me whenever I see one of Dr. Kings speeches..... -

you are doing this fade thing perfectly IMO. you are also talking to your wife perfectly. I was the wife who listened to hubby's (ithinkisee) doubts and we faded out together. your wife sounds very intelligent and the fact that she didn't shut down that conversation right from the beginning is VERY promising.
keep us up to date!
much love and peace to you and her!

Anyone Ever Read The Four Agreements, A Toltec Wisdom Book?
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? insubtitle is "a practical guide to personal freedom" by don miguel ruiz .
i just started reading this book and it is amazing.
i have been underlining on every page things that i can personally relate to - and i must admit i'm not very far into it yet (page 25) but i felt a very strong urge to not only recommend it (i'll be back later to weigh in again once i start reading what the four agreements actually are/entail) but also ask if any here (oh my very dear friends on jwd) has read this book and what your personal thoughts are?.

I found this book interesting and *the message* was great. I too found it repetitive and somewhat annoying. It was like hanging out with someone that likes to talk vague and in riddles all day... :)
I recently read *anatomy of the spirit* and know I'm reading *power of now* and they are amazing books. I would recommend them. -

Can we start a Secret Santa Recieved/Sent Thread?
by restrangled ini'm worried because i sent a christmas card plus had a gift sent by ups over the internet about 7 days ago and haven't heard anything.
i would feel really feel bad if my person didin't receive their gift or card.
so i think we need to have an official post place.

WOO HOO! I got my secret santa gift yesterday!
I opened it and I have to admit it was completely by accident. I ordered a bunch of x-mas gifts and I thought it was one of the gifts I ordered. I was puzzled for a moment when I opened the box and saw a card and wrapped gifts that said MERRY CHRISTMAS FREEDOMLOVER!
So I know what I got and I loved everything I got! Especially my very apostate Richard Dawkins book I wanted! he he he
THANK YOU SO MUCH LONELYSHEEP! :)
This was so much fun. thank you also to Angharad for putting all this together! -

Lost and looking for answers
by LynnTink inthis is my story.

wow.
what an introduction and story. welcome, welcome, welcome. you are among people who understand what you've been through.
I don't have any new *belief system* to offer you. I have come to feel there are no perfect little neat answers to life and it's vast wonders.
I can offer you a hug and love. tell you that you are not alone.
your restlessness and searching are a gift. they will bring you peace and clarity eventually. sit and breathe and look within and you'll find your answers.
I'm so glad you are here.

anyone ever had a pet custody battle in a divorce
by dawgfan ini feel somewhat ridiculous.
i know that a dog is not the same as a child but even my soon to be ex has conceeded on alot of points in the divorce papers, we cannot agree on who gets custody of the dog.
i've always had dogs when i was growing up, but i really love this dog that we have.
-
freedomloverr
no - not being stupid.
I love my dog like he was one of my kids.
I have heard of people sharing custody of pets. would that work for you both?
