Wow, I was with you when you opened the thread with some criticism of Lloyd. I don't even know which side of these USA issues Lloyd is on, but I got what you were saying because I know what kind of guy Lloyd is.
But apparently, Lloyd is not the only one who "has made comments on the USA not knowing shit about what he was desperately trying to talk about."
phoenixrising makes broad generalizations about liberals that are loaded with "absolutes." So now I can watch my back around phoenixrising, too.

Pioneer School Funny Picture
by pale.emperor infound this on one of the exjw reddit pages.
a "hilarious" group photo.
another sign that this isnt the same religion we remembered of the 80s and 90s - and i dont mean that in a good, progressive way.. you can just smell the virginity oozing out of the front and back row.. .

While this is probably not the main photo they took, such antics would not have been allowed on any additional photos 'back in the day.'
While Watchtower was always too stiff, too strict, I don't wish it to get even slightly more casual or lighten up on members' personal choices- for the simple reason that they will wake up easier if they see what a mind-control situation they are really in.

Did they use to applaud after reinstatement after being Disfellowshipped, but then it stopped?
by ThomasCovenant ini don't remember disfellowshippings happening very often and announcements about being re instated but i think i remember that we used to clap hands if someone came back after being disfellowshipped.
but then i think clapping wasn't allowed.
am i correct in my recollections?.

Slimboyfat: "However they simply cannot resist their compulsion to micromanage situations and even prescribe the emotions you should be feeling when faced with complex issues that legitimately prompt a range of responses."
One of the best responses I have read as to why they do what they do.

terrified but waking up, child abuse, suicide etc.
by anon1028 inim new to this forum, i dont know where else to post my story, sorry if im wrong for posting this on this subject.
as i begin to wake up from being in the org i thought id introduce myself to this forum with how i was raised in the org..., ive been beginning to look at everyones stories from being raised as one and how they left, and i find comfort in knowing im not alone, so maybe another young person like me will find the same comfort reading my story.
as you can tell by my username, i am posting this on an anonymous account because of fear of what the elders would do to me and my parents if they found out who i was.

Thank you for sharing something so private and difficult to express, Anon1028. Most here continue to be anonymous for obvious reasons.
If you feel suicidal at some point from here on out, please seek help, no matter how much trouble your family gives or gets because of it. In the USA, possibly where you are writing from, calling 911 can start such a process of forcing the issue to get needed help. Also, if eating too little or too much is a continuous problem, try to find help.
But if everything is manageable, and 911 is not your answer, there are other ways to get help. Consider researching, starting perhaps at Amazon, an author named Bonnie Zieman- a former JW who is a therapist and whose books are wonderful at helping JW's/ex-JW's work through depression or doubt or other things. Her books were not out when I went through my doubting, so I did heavy research through various channels including counseling that my insurance helped pay for. I discovered Bonnie's books later and thought they would have been better than my path of self-help books and videos, or at least a great supplement.
While it doesn't seem like it now, realizing the need to escape Jehovah's Witnesses at this young stage will be a benefit to you.
I don't quite understand your current position with your biological brothers/sisters. I only read your initial first post. Are they younger, older? Whatever the case, try to stay in their lives to help them or they might help you. If not possible, and along with siblings, many of us former JW's have developed great friendships and consider friends to be our family.
And certainly consider the people here as desirous of helping. But remember many of us have a chip on our shoulders, so when we say "F#$k 'em!" about some people, analyzing it for yourself can be helpful. Analyzing all things for yourself will help.
I understand that you might need to prioritize getting on your own. I probably would do the same. But also consider making your career goals, including any education. It can be slow going if need be, but always look to move forward.
When I have time, I will read this whole thread. Despite being out awhile, I enjoy the advice and stories of others. Good day.

Black Lives Matter—Do You Agree With Their Philosophy?
by minimus ini agree with people who say all lives matter.
i think blm is a racist group.
if white people pushed an agenda saying white lives matter, some people would have a conniption..

When they stood with Boston after the marathon bombing, the slogan "Boston Strong" was okay with virtually everyone. You did not hear people in Houston complaining that they were strong also.
Same with Las Vegas after the concert shooting. Social media largely replaced the slogan about "what happens in Vegas" with [hashtag]VegasStrong. None of that is insulting to other cities.
If people raise money and awareness for death-dealing strokes, it doesn't mean those people are for death by cancer.
A group has a specific cause about black lives and some of you act as if they are against blue lives or white lives. Not at all. It's really no different from people fighting to save the whales and you all assume they wish porpoises would be killed.

new situation in world helpful to org?
by Magnum insometimes new situations can provide cover for one’s mistakes or intentions.
for example, suppose that i crack the windshield in my dad’s car one night.
i go home, park the car in its usual spot in the yard, and go to bed without telling my dad because i’m scared and i’m trying to think of a way out of the situation.

The men in charge are mostly yes men brought in by previous G.B.. They are not only not inspired by Holy Spirit but are not really inspired in any way compared to the likes of Fred or Ray Franz or Russel or Rutherford.
They are in charge at a horrible junction- the time where the internet easily exposes their doctrines and past as they try to reinvent themselves into jwdotorg and get away from Watchtower Bible and Tract printing company because print is nearly dead. Meanwhile, the exposure is creating lawsuits.
So yeah, they could easily give up the Kingdom Halls. Recruiting is also dead anyway, so stealing the life force from their remnant is all they have left. That, and property.

Watchtower August 2020 Are they introducing new light?
by Listener inthe latest watchtower is now out and they make this statement -.
7 during the thousand year rule of christ, all of jehovah’s earthly children will have to make changes to please him.
so all of them will have true fellow feeling as they help the resurrected ones to combat sinful tendencies and to live by jehovah’s standards.

I agree with Hisclarkness from page 1
"I think this is just more of a slip up on the writer’s part in not paying attention to their own doctrine. "
But it is such a nothing change if it is deliberate. "We decided something about the technical position of people in the new system, which is never actually arriving anyway. And even if it did, God would decide these things, or such a silly technicality wouldn't matter to him like it does to the G.B.."

I was one of the elders and this M.S. was the perfect candidate. He helped the sick and elderly, he spent quality time talking to people in the teritory.
He said NO THANKS a few times until someone talked him into it like 2 years later.
He hated all the stupid games between congregations at a shared hall and having to discuss the poor spirituality of good people just going through stuff.
He moved to a different state. Wwe visited and, despite an excellent reputation, refused to be an elder or M.S. in his new congregation.

Fading
by Cordelia18 inhi i was on here a few years ago, i ended up caving to family pressure and returning to the borg i've since married and have 2 children .
all the reasons i returned are still here, my parents are elderly and i really don't want to hurt them but i just can't do it anymore i need to leave before my kids are brainwashed, i need to be clever this time .
last time i was dfed and became dependant on drink i am in aa and sober now and learning the true meaning of sprituality i know without a doubt that it is a dangerous cult, but i need some tips on fading, its so hard when i want to shout from the roof tops how blind they are.

Fading is tough if your main goal is anything beyond civil relationships with your family.
D.O.C. has a fairly good reason for not attending. Or just blame weakness and busy schedules and YADDA YADDA anything until they get the hint that you just don't want to go there and just don't want to talk about your reasons.
Let them think its just spiritual weakness. Then add in that the elders talked to you recently, and they were total jerks.
