Let's just get something straight about 1975.

nobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.

in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?

there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

TD and Parakeet both have said it in their last posts. TD did a wonderful job of connecting
their statements that are made purposely then allowing the elders and publishers to make
the logical connections to the conclusion. IF A = B, B = C, then we must stay alert in these
remaining months just in case we discover the value of C resembling A.

I would add that now, as far as the "end" goes, recruiting is down, donations and activity among
active JW is down, so they started focusing on "the end is right around the corner" to keep
us ~~focused~~ distracted. Are they going to have to tread carefully more than ever, yes.
That means that they will not name a year, but will hint at various things. I suggest more
comparisons to the days of Noah. The length of time from Noah's warning to the actual flood
will be used.

Ray Franz CoC, was he in denial? Just asking.

i was reading a little coc last night where ray f. disusses the witch hunt at bethel that resulted in all the oustings.

as i read the doctrines that he questioned, (not judging him right or wrong), i noticed that he was questioning some of the fundamental beliefs of the wt.

ie: gov.

There are many on the JWD that are trying to fade away from the organization because
of what it would mean to be DF'ed. There are many who remain elders while they are
going thru doubt. There are many JW's who feel that they have God's Organization with
the Borg, but need to make changes.

Ray could have left sooner, but did not. He may have never left if not for his DF, but it
happened. His help for the ex-JW cause is great. Could it be more? Yeah, but everyone
decides how much involvement they want to have or how much they just want to have a
life.

Does anyone here criticize an ex-JW that decided to DA and move on with his life, having
absolutely nothing to do with JW or JWD for that matter?
Do you criticize an ex-JW because he doesn't picket WT headquarters or the local KH with
all of his free time, proclaiming them a cult,or baby-killers, or silent about pediphiles?

You can all do as much or as little as you want, you can stay or go, depending on your
circumstances. I wouldn't criticize a person for making his own decisions. It's okay to
talk about on this forum, but in the end, nobody should really get bitter about it. Now,
if you want to criticize the book, that's totally different. Is he holding out stuff? I say YES.
It probably is because he is trying to avoid a personal attack.

i have just put together a table with percentages that highlights quite simply what a jw can and can not have.

the wts does not present it in this simple format, as graphically it is quite obvious how senseless their stand is.

I will answer that question from my own ignorance. I first heard of the acceptance of fractions, and I was for it.
I decided that the organization was very FORWARD thinking, because it recognized advances in science and
medicine that "Jehovah" would not have explained in the Bible to ancient people.

Wow, what a crock. The basic idea that donated blood should be poured on the ground, never allowable, unless
you are receiving a fraction from it, is ridiculous. JW's painted themselves into another corner and then were
happy that the loyal ranks did not mind much.

I believe this is all to head off lawsuits in the future. WE TOLD THEM THEY COULD TAKE THIS STUFF.

Saw My Mother!!!

i was on my way home today, and i passed my mother on the road.

tears came to my eyes immediately, just at the sight of her face.. i hate this religion.. but i love my mom.. i can't even remember, when the last time we spoke was.. i just want to sit down and talk to her, but i can't- i won't- because its her fault.

i left a religion, she left her son.

Send her flowers for no reason other than to say "I love You Mom". If your Mom has a wedding anniversary send a card and flowers with Note I Love You Both. Don't overdo it but still feel free to express love, regardless of the rejection. You might be surprised it will make you feel good because you are expressing love with out conditions and it just may tug at her heart.

I agree with Sheri. Don't let some rule from a cult change who YOU are. Show her you still love her, maybe that will help her. It's no loss if it doesn't help, because you aren't communicating now.

boredom got the best of me, and i took a glance at the "do you remember?

" on pg 30 of aug 15th watchtower 2006.. the question: "under the law, why did certain natural sexual functions make a person "unclean"?".

the answer: "the laws concerning uncleanness ascribed to seminal emissions, menstruation, and childbirth fostered good hygiene and a healthy lifestyle, stressed the sanctity of blood, and showed the need for atonement of sins.".

IMO, the laws were written by the priests to force regular sacrifices of the people. It was impossible to stay clean. I doubt that many Hebrews actually followed all the laws on staying clean. I tried to research the Borg library long ago about this, but there really isn't much on daily life.

Growing up a Cubs fan, giving up on them in 1984, being a Bears Fan is much more fun. The ups and downs are more thrilling (except for the Bartman Ball fiasco).

This is a really good team. Is Superbowl one word or two.

finding out jehovah's witnesses were a cult on a number of occasions individuals would warn.

me about being one of jehovah's witnesses and.

say that the religion was really a cult.

When I discovered they are a cult, while I had a sense of disappointment in myself, it was quickly replaced with a great sense of relief. I was duped, but so were brilliant people. I was brainwashed, but it's not permanent. I can get on with my life.
