True, there have been those in times past who predicted an 'end to the world' even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened.
The loophole here is that nobody alive today can personally remember a specific date set for the end of the world. They avoided saying the date, just hinted.

This is WT from after 1995 changes. I was sick to my stomach when I read Awake! 1993 March 22 pp.3-4 Why So Many False Alarms? but now I understand. The purpose of one is to cover their ass, the purpose of the other is to get people who forgot the fiasco to start putting all their trust in the GB.
Okay, instead of false prophets, they are false messengers. I read the entire series of study articles and they never mentioned any false messages from WT. I was not surprised.
in 1995 the wts as time finally caught up with them, they had to yield to the inevitable and admit that its hitherto interpretation of the so called 1914 last generation was erroneous.
to all intents and purposes the end was indefinitely posrponed it could be centuries away according to the new explanation.
yet the r&f do not seem to realise these implications and are apparently suffering from collective blindness they still believe the end is as near as it was before 1995, just round the corner.
Zico, that's funny. I would not expect any doctrinal change on the 1935 thing. Doctrine that's not constantly repeated is forgotten.
Except the ex-JW's, nobody really remembers the 1935 stuff. I cannot even explain it without looking it up, I doubt there's much
written about it, if anything.

Not knowing much about you, I just want to say:
If you are just in need of people to talk to, this forum is great.
If you are considering major changes in your life, do the therapy thing.
If you are thinkinf of being an exiting JW, telling them you are depressed
and seeing a counselor/doctor will make it easier.
I will probably include the therapist route in my course, soon.

See your doctor. You're going through a rough patch. Counseling and/or medication may help you cope with it more easily.

my husband was listening to a radio station the other day and said there was news that the wts has decided that jesus dying on a cross rather than a stake may not be as far-fetched as they once thought.. have any of you heard this?
