Welcome to the forum, sweetface. I'm sorry to hear about your sister's reaction. Hang in there. Keep communication open on your end, even if she doesn't speak to you for awhile. Hopefully, she'll see by your actions that just because you left the organization, you haven't become an evil person and that you still love her. Maybe she'll come around.

Fantastic opportunities for advanced education on line
by restrangled inlsu, california state,, eastern and western illinois among others offer fantastic classes.
harvard even offers a doctorate degree on line, although you will have to attend for a short time on campus.
several members of my family are finishing up degrees or advancing them through clep tests or on line classes through these sites, with testing done at local colleges or homework sent through the mail at minimal cost compared even to your local jr. college.

Restrangled - Thanks for the info. As I mentioned previously, I'm pursuing my RN degree online. I'm getting it through Excelsior college. I recommend it to anyone. However, for anyone thinking about doing online education, don't do what I did and get sucked into a plan like The College Network or Chancellor's - they are only publishing companies that make study guides for taking CLEP or Excelsior exams. You get your degree from whatever college you enroll in, but you pay through the nose to The College Network for the study guides. Long story short - you don't need the "middle man." If you go through Excelsior, just order your books and study guides through them. You'll save A LOT of money. The College Network's study guides are good. I've gotten 4 A's and 1 B from them. But they are WAY too expensive, and they have ways of locking you into buying ALL of the books you'll need at once. You can't just order one at a time.

I am currently pursuing my RN degree on line. (I am an LPN; that's why I can do most of the RN program online). More and more schools are offering online degrees. It's just the natural progression of technology. Since I work full time and have a family, it's the only way I could do it. I would recommend it to anyone who thinks they don't have time to go back to school.

LDB and I went to the Hawthorne race track one!!! It was miserably hot. I was about 3-4 months pregnant at the time and thought I was going to hurl about 80% of the time. But being a good witness, I stuck it out until Sunday around lunch time. I couldn't take it anymore and we left. That was AWFUL!!!

Does anyone need any JW books, brochures, etc.?
by exwitless inwe have a bunch of books that are wasting a lot of valuable bookshelf space: songbooks (the gold ones), nwts, the jw history book, insight on the scriptures, and most of the little dumb books.
we also have a few brochures, tracts, and some kingdom ministry brochures called "the new millennuim - what does the future hold".
we have the entire bible on cassette tape, the wt library 2000 on cd, and lots of other stuff.. someone was asking on another thread about the old school brochure.

What Does the Bible Really Teach (2005)
Worship the Only True God (2002)
Daniel's Prophecy (1999)
Isaiah's Prophecy, Volume I and II, (2000)
Is There A Creator Who Cares About You? (1998)
Jehovah's Witnesses Proclaimers of God's Kingdom (1993)
Benefit From Theocratic Ministry School Education (2001)
Learn From the Great Teacher (2003)

Someone was asking on another thread about the old school brochure. We don't have one, sorry.
Please, if anyone wants any of it, let me know. Otherwise, Little Drummer Boy and I will have a nice colorful bonfire.

Sorry to hear about your dad. It makes it harder when your mom is being cold to you. Hang in there and be there for both of them.

No DC next year, last DC?
by doinmypart ina relative said there may not be dcs next year.
he said on the last day of this year's dc when the final speaker goes through all the reports & experiences, the speaker said next year's dc have not been planned yet and the gb will make an announcement later this year.

Is there a comet approaching? Perhaps they are spending the money on triangular shaped purple sheets and cyanide?
Jeff, you forgot about the black velcro shoes!!
Anyway, my very 1st DC was the very last 4 day one (that I know of). It was in 1993. When they said they would probably be 3 day ones from then on, people theorized this was somehow a "sign of the approaching end." Well, here we are, 13 years later, and the WT continues to revel in their smugness to try to hype people up about how "Jehovah's work is nearing completion."
It's pathetic how much JW's thrive on the bait that the governing body dangles out in front of them, just to give the appearance that they know something about "the ever-impending, any day now beginning of the end" that the common dub doesn't.

"But what do i tell the friends?"
by zack inso three weeks ago my wife and i had an emotional discussion wherein i finally told her that this religion was not the truth.
there was much emotion, a chill has ensued in our relationship.
(i haven't been to a meeting in 4 months now, and have not reported time in two months) i am sure many of you know the drill.. towards the end of our conversation, she asks: but what do i tell the friends when they ask about you?.

Take the pressure off of your wife about what she should tell her "friends": If they ask how you are or if they tell her to tell you hello, instruct her to say, "That's nice, but I'm sure he'd rather hear it directly from you." Then she doesn't have to offer any explaination about you. The flip side of it is: You have to be prepared to answer them. My guess is they won't go to the trouble of calling you to ask. Your wife is a convenience. They can ask her about you and clear their consciences and forget about you, without having to deal with you personally.
