I agree. During my 30yrs +- inside the Borg, Jesus was not a subject that was popular. Almost as if we were not allowed to make too big a deal about him. Greatest man book and all the rest, seems to give a nod towards him, but Jesus is only 2nd best. I am puzzled at the apologists who don't seem see that,.... or to read for that matter. Check the information. There is no harm in making sure that the opponents point of view has any validity. Smith

JW runs when he hears the word "Jesus"
by Honesty inthis morning i was in the office of a company that i do business with.
3 women were in the office and they all asked me how i was doing since i had major surgery last month.. i told them that i was recovering but it was kind of disappointing when i woke up in the recovery room instead of at the pearly gates.. one of the women said, "god must have more for you to do here.".
at which i replied, "yes, there are so many lost people who don't know jesus.".

DF and shunning to end soon...jw numbers will triple
by oompa inrecently at the beach house with my df studly son...a carload of young jw's in service drove by and saw us...old friends of his/me...they turned around and stopped...hugs and all!...i loved them treating him so human.
most dubs now hate to shun...esp.
their own family and there is less and less of it...my own mom will not shun my son, but dad will...she just told me she has no prob treating my son as just her normal grandson because she believe no kids should be allowed to be baptised!....i love you mom!

If Oompa wants to be optimistic, let him. Coming out of the borg and looking back at the lies and deceit makes for a lot of negative views on the WB&TS. A little hope is never wasted. Whatever floats your boat Oompa. I however don't foresee the shunning and disfellowshipping going away any time soon. Maybe a less harsh view on communicating with family that are df or da will be on the cards. But not soon. Smith

What is South Africa like?
by sammielee24 inwe were talking about places we would like to visit one day and i mentioned cape town.
sometimes, all the news we get or the pictures we see of another country, are slanted toward what is bad and we don't get to see what a country is really about.
i was wondering how many on here are from or have been to cape town and what it's really like?

Tourist and visitors to SA get to see the best bits. The Dollar($) to the Rand (ZAR) is good for Americans that's for sure! If you are into Safari's and the bush experience, your choices are amazing. The Kruger Park is the most well known, but there are plenty of game farms around all over SA. I woke up one night to see four elephants wander through the camp, Made a mess of the gate by the way. Come over, we will show the good bits we keep for ourselves ;)

Dodgy WT articles in the 70s???
by Amha·aret inrecently an elder called to see me and gladring - more social than scriptural meaning we had a "chat" but he wasn't being overly preachy.. anyway, a bit in to the conversation he said something about cleansing of the org and about ray franz in the 70s.
then he said something about some wt articles from that time weren't right yet got published, like as if ray or his "apostate" cronies ran their own agendas thru them or something.
has anyone else heard anything like this?

My father (elder) was on the Quick build team, and had friends in Bethel South Africa. He retold a similar story. The short version is that in the late 70's and early 80's the Borg was being cleaned because the apostates have infiltrated the society at every level, even the the Governing Body! (eeek! Shock! Horror!) The subliminal art, scriptural unsound articles etc was by this evil group and that "The Society knows of articles that have been published with the apostates agenda, and this will be dealt with" .....then Ray Franz was df'd later on. And of course the gossiping went crazy...

Defence of watchtower society Links
by reniaa ini thought long and hard before making this thread, that many will not agree with it but i think there needs to be balance and people to realise there are alternate viewpoints out there on many of these subjects, the ones that are most spoke about on this forum.
i was recently sent a full message containing mary's book and these links give the rebuttal to many of her points.
those that are still open-minded enough feel free to look over them even if in the end you still don't agree at least you have heard both the defence as well as the attack as they are on the internet.

Reniaa said...... "and if I have one gripe with this site it is the exaggeration and constant need to put the worst spin on things happening within the wts but I guess that comes with the territory."....... isn't that the what its all about? This is Reniaa's territory. She is putting in special pioneer hours by the looks of things!

Jehovah's Witnesses Evidently Ashamed of the WTBTS
by Melody Blankenship inon monday, october 20th, in elk city, oklahoma, a jehovah's witness knocked on my very good friend's door.
she did not know at the time that he was a jw but he was passing out literature.
she thought it might be someone out campaigning for a political candidate.

I tried not to identify myself as a JW either in FS. As soon as you say that you are a JW the door closes.. tsk tsk, then another opportunity to convert the heathens are lost. ;) I recall the Circuit overseer telling us to do this, one day in service. In fact I thought it was a good idea at the time. Not very honest, is it? Agent Smith

I just got my hands on a copy of the new Tract!
by lovelylil inso my hubby went to work this morning and i told him about the new tract campaign and told him to be on the look out for it.
he takes the train in to boston and he told me in the past that there is an elderly man who hands out literature.
so i tell him, keep your eyes open for him so you can get me a copy of the tract.. this morning sure enough, he goes to the train station and here is the eldery man holding up the tract.

mmmm, I would like to see that. Then again, maybe not. It is surprising how the JW's are so 'limp' nowadays. Last year I had a visit during the last big tract campaign. I told the brother that I was looking forward to receiving my copy. He handed it over and smiled, and replied " Really?" "Yes, I was anticipating your visit" He then turns on his heels and says "Have a nice day" and joins another brother standing at my gate. If I were out in Field Circus and I got a response like that I would have spent my whole morning there! But that just me, tried to convert everyone, to be a zealot like me... lol.
