harold camping, the elderly california preacher who found fame when he predicted the end of the world admits he was wrong.. "events within the last year have proven that no man can be fully trusted.
even the most sincere and zealous of us can be mistaken," wrote mr camping, in a letter to listeners of his evangelical family radio program.. .
But was it really an error since all the hundred of thousands $$$ collected are still in the pockets of who professed these lies ?
Harold Camping Ministries collected hundreds of thousands in recent years.
Thats enough to make any man forget what he did to gain that wealth.
And no they're not legally libel to give it all back in case anyone is wondering.
i was on the phone with my mom last night (she's an uber-dub with a don't ask, don't tell type policy where we basically just don't discuss the fact that i celebrate holidays and go to church regularly etc.
) and she said she was talking to one of my old friends from the hall there.
the friend asked my mom how i've been and my mom said she made a face and kind of went "ehhh..." and talked about my lack of meeting attendance (she doesn't know it's way more than that) and my friend shook her head and said, "aw, that's too bad, but i've been in ruts like that before" as though i'm just depressed and don't feel like going lately.
There are numerous variables of propaganda this organization uses to attract adherents as well to keep them there.
Just one of the many subjective lies the leaders of this organization implies.
Join are family and happiness is guaranteed right toward paradise.
something i don't see supported much on jwn is the notion that the end of this system is indeed coming, even if later than wts has predicted over the years.. now for those that have left and become complete non-believers (in the bible) that is understandable.
you guys are welcome to comment of course, but i'm far more interested in some feedback from the people who have left jws and pursued a christian course.
are you still convinced that there will be a war of armaggedon or do you now interpret the scriptures a different way?.
One another important fact to consider is the WTS. doctrines of " The End Times " is a true commercialized exploitation to
proliferate the organization literature and create believers to propagate that work.
Unfortunately Armageddon will not happen because it was just a fictional story told be the ancient Hebrews to create power and relevance
to their own god of worship (Yahweh), subjectively just one of the many stories of the various worshiped gods in that era of human history.
Figuratively speaking Christ was another story but one with much more human like qualities concerning the many perils that mankind endures.
Hence the reason that Christianity got started and was selectively embraced over other forms of worship.
im assuming we all realise the gb may be many things but the individuals are not fools.
given the changes in ideas, formulation of new light and so on, do they buy the fascade they are presenting ?
if theres anyone in there, surely they as men, know how very man made it has always been.
The GB also know they've reached the very top of the power structure of the Watchtower Kingdom, the most important pivotal
position of a kingdom of over 7 million people. Thats perceived as real tangible power folks, throw in the availability to have millions of dollars
at your disposal, to buy and sell what ever comes up. Throw in the elevated privileged personal stature that hangs with this position, not only
in the confines of the HQ of the WTS., but everywhere around the world and you can see its a pretty neat package.
One could conclude then that the GB believe in the organization and the position they hold over and above their belief that God is really guiding them
and no other religious organization and that my friends is " The Truth ".
during my final few years being active with the jws i noticed that the vast majority of people who were studying or joining the group in general where those that the rest of society would consider disabled and/or severely mentally ill. now by disabled i dont mean i lost my leg in nam kind of disabled... in some cases these people were mentally retarded, had the minds of children, were severely abused as children or even as adults and as a result had personality disorders that put them on the edge of society.... and then we had the full on crazies... about 15 years ago one of the brothers who worked at the local welfare office somehow started a study with a person who was a paranoid schizophrenic.
he met her because she was a client of the welfare office.
she got handed off to a sister who studied with her, then started driving her to her doctors appointments, and to get grocerys, and took her to congregation events.
I think the mentally venerable would be a little more accurate, such as people who are going through some stress or strenuous problem
in their life, such as a divorce, a death of a loved one, a poor annihilating social life, even the naivety of youth who are so more
open minded to things. Of course there are also ones who are suffering from a true medical mental disorder such as paranoid schizophrenia and alike.
Human psychology is varied and precarious as the open seas, so the answer to the posed question would be yes.

they were very congenial and eventually asked me if i got invited to the memorial and whether they could arrange a future visit with me and a possible study.
i thanked them and told them i appreciated their invitation but that i was going to "pass at this time" but thanked them for their concern.. they recited a "wonderful experience" about a young man that was raised in the "truth" but wanted out so he decided to go to asia where he could not be found by witnesses.

Much like most Christian based faiths, their bible interpretations are selectively taken out the bible to support their own doctrines, then they stamp
those doctrines as the "Truth". Add a close intimate prayer to god to follow behind those particular teachings and you set a stage
of believability, at the same time a stage of power and authority is being superimposed upon those propagating those teachings.
The Bible studies set up by JWs are not true bible studies, what they are are Watchtower doctrinal studies, but they exploit passages
out of the bible to support those self established doctrines.
i have a personal theory about russell, rutherford and franz.. it extends to end times religious people in general.. that is, highly intelligent...end times believers.... .
there is a tension to believing something that never seems to overlap with reality.. your intelligence keeps flashing "something's wrong".. but, your deeply held convictions (faith) tells you to shut the f**k up!.
so, you live your live with a "gnawing" away at your brain.
This portraying analogy of Charles Manson and the WTS. organization is bit to the extreme but one particular similar aspect
you could point out is how one charismatic personality with a agenda to control people can have such a profound psychological
effect on to people. Mason exploited the counter culture social atmosphere of the late 60's, to persuade people to keep within
the family he was trying to create, as sort of safe haven for people against the eventual down fall destruction of society.
Using elements of fear with sex, drugs and love he mentally manipulated those young impressionable girls for them to perceive him as
their personal savior. Of course over time it was realized by them that it was Charles Manson who was the evil that they needed
to be aware and protected from.
For decades the WTS. has used similar tactics of fear to coerce people to join their organization because
of a soon to come catastrophic event which will befall over mankind and the only way or chance to survive this destruction by the hand of god
is to join their faith. Join the family of happy joyous survivors into a earthly paradise, there's little time left before the proverbial doors
of the Ark are going to close and then no one will be allowed in.
So you can see the faint similarities to how Manson created his devoted followers creating his family of devoted ones and how
the WTS. created its family of devoted ones.

Since the topic of 1914 has recently popped up again, I wonder if the WTS. and a majority of long time JWS
are going to sweat under their collars a bit once 2014 arrives and the proceeding years to follow.
Your right though there's always a assertive amount of varied anxiety within JWS based upon no less the WTS. own doctrinal teachings.
In some ways I feel sorry for them, for all those years of work, devoted dedication and stifling oppression, the end result will be a empty
basket of nothing, unless you consider a bookshelf full of useless redundant literature something.
