LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER

perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.

as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.

since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

(btw, doesnt the bible condemn gambling?? please feel free to correct me if im wrong.) i will take your bet yk. anyone that believes the dollar will be worthless by the end of october is out of their gourd (but we already knew that of you.) even though its so very sad to see you worrying about a simple bet during a time when thousands of innocent lives have been slaughtered, i will still take your insignificant wager. please name the parameters (and hopefully you will not renege on this one as you apparently have in the past).

thank you patriot for the first hand report. it reinforces what we have all heard from others in new york, and reinforces the thoughts on this entire thread. you say "how pathetic is that"....and that is perhaps the first response that pops to mind. but really the word that describes it best is SAD. its truly sad.

such a christ-like response, thank you for showing your true colors mr. ministerial servant. one last thought, the passages that i quoted have been up for over a day, were you on the phone with you neighbor for 24 hours? and if youre so wrapped up in the tragedy, and do not have time for replies, then please quit replying in posts such as this one, where you imply the society has done so much more, when you cant even give one example:

At present, the term "Mr. President" refers to George Bush. Let us say for example that JFK was God; this isn't blasphemy, just and example. Anyhow, "Mr. President" is used for both George Bush and JFK, but George Bush is NOT God in this case and would have to be JFK.

i hope everyone who's had a chance to read this thread, including hairdog, got a nice laugh out of this absolutely ridiculous and absurd comparison of the presidents and god. bibleboy, are we to assume that george bush and jfk are coequal in mind and thought then? what a preposterous comparison! almost as convincing as the three-in-one apple! please stick to scriptures and quit discrediting those that actually put up valid arguments (like hairdog) for the trinity.......you give trinitarians a bad name bibleboy, and you make it much easier for us non-trinitarians to show how ridiculous a notion the trinity actually is.

I wonder if they travelled those few hundred yards to offer even water to those walkers?........Other religious organizations donated money to the relief effort........Other religious organizations encouraged the donating of blood...

Contrast this with the images we saw in Oz last night via CNN of Salvation Army booth at 'gateway' to sealed off area handing out refreshments to ALL those entering, volunteers and police and firefighters and just everyone. Like you say, Room215, the WTS "blew it".

Brits: 90% Say Go In With Yanks.

i thought you folk in the states might like to know how things stand this side of the pond.. sky news interactive showed that 90% of those polled thought that the uk should join with the us military in attacks on countries harbouring terrorists.. the the entrance to the us embassy in london is stacked high with flowers and tributes, the fdr statue in particular has also been similarly honoured.. flags all around the country are at half-mast.. the queen ordered that the daily changing of the guard ceremony at buckingham palace should feature the usa national anthem, this has never happened before at such a nationalistic event.. the famous last night of the proms at the albert hall and hyde park has been restructured to honour the american dead.. it is know that several hundred brits were in the trade centre at the time of the attack.. i just wanted you people to know that your country is by no means on its own in this crisis.

Why did people Jump?

this was posted on msnbc.com under an article explaining why people jumped off the twin towers.. years ago, frederick says, a colleague of his set up an experiment where he subjected laboratory animals to excruciating pain.

they could go into another chamber to escape the pain, but if they did they would get their heads chopped off.

other lab animals were allowed to observe this, so they knew what would happen.

am i the only one who's noticed a pattern with mr. nytel here? he's been jumping from post to post, and reprimanding those who are "bad-mouthing" the wts, instead of concentrating on the "tragic event" at hand. seems to me that even "in view of such a tragic event", nytel still has the time to run around and bad-mouth those bad-mouthing the wts........which is worse? and what's the difference really?

now, to respond to the topic at hand.......

it really is a sick and tragic thought to embrace: these people forced to either burn to death or jump. it's been a common watercooler question after the footage was shown: what would you do? jump or stay? i haven't heard anyone disagree with the jumpers as of yet on this one, including myself. it's probably the most horrific thought in the whole tragedy, and personally i hope they discontinue these close up shots of people hanging out of windows, getting ready to jump, and finally jumping. they can say what they want to about "making this real in american's eyes by showing the actual footage", but it's really sick to watch, and at some point it has to become unneccesary sensationalism.

i would exhort you to first ask... and then listen... to the master's voice on the matter, and if you cannot 'hear'... or exercise faith in what you 'hear'... then go to the 'scriptures'.

for indeed, it is 'written'... in the scriptures.

it is not, however, 'written' in the letters, histories, chronologies and gospels.
