Carla...Means keeping tract of the people not at home, and returning later to try to catch them..... Now they can just leave the tract at the door and not go back.

JW says the tract campaigns are working
by truthseeker ini was talking to a pioneer yesterday; he was all excited over the new memorial tract, said how nice it looked.
he commented that the "society said we don't have to take not-at-homes for this campaign.".
i asked him what he thought of the campaigns and the fact that we have a convention campaign coming up soon.

Help! Elders are after me-need advice!
by love2Bworldly inhi--3 times this weekend 2 elders came to my door asking for me by name (my kids answered the door).
apparently my jw sister notified the elders about the letter she received from me several months ago and gave them my new address.
my letter was very clear about how i felt about the watchtower society and i have not stepped foot in a kingdom hall in about 15 years, and the last 8 years of that was sporadic at best.. why should i talk to people i did not invite to my home, when i know they are coming to condemn me?

Maybe it is an oppertunity for you to show them a few things.....Like you know the things going on in the BORG....The changes being made, ect...and the realization that there is no way they have God's backing. Since you have nothing to lose......maybe you have something to gain. (Helping cult members...plant a seed) :)

Hi Hammy....
Sometimes relationships are toxic for you to be in....PERIOD. You don't have to nurture them. This is how I feel about my step-dad. I will occasionaly talk to him.....but I don't put myself out there anymore. You don't have to make excuses or apologize. It is the way it is, and it is your right to avoid them...and you don't even have to tell them that that is what you are doing....just do it.
Good luck, stay strong!

JWs: "YOU must pray, then, this way: 'Our Father...'"
by AuldSoul inmatthew 6:9 "you must pray, then, this way: our father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified.
'" (nwt).
we know the bible shows jesus praying to his father, but who is our father?.

It was amazing to me that I always thought the Trinity did not make sense....Thw whole 1+1+1=1 thingy they teach....Well...It took me about 3 days of researching on my own that I DO believe...and it is clear to me that Jehovah God came down as Jesus....and sacraficed himself for us...and our sins.

Personality Type That Draws One To WTBTS
by searching99 ini was thinking about this last night and after reading the previous topic about the gb believing or not it has me thinking again.
i am continually amazed at how a "new" religion can cause ones to abandon all previous beliefs and they are never questioned again.
i am third generation.

I think you are right....And, most of the time they get people in at their weakest point in life. It appeals to Narcicists and Scoiciopaths (Thankfully it doesn't attract people who can't spell those words..lol)

JW's and the internet
by *jeremiah* ingrowing up as a jw in the 70's and 80's we didn't have the influence of the internet.
i, of course, believed i was in "the truth" and never heard anything (from the outside) that negative about our jw religion.
of course, now and again, we had some angry people at the door, but other than that i can't recall very many outside negative criticisms.

I wish I understood that too. When I first realized all this info was out here...I sent my non-baptised step-dad some links...and he said they were full of hatred....and if you want to know about something (a religion) ...you need to go to the source....So I think maybe they choose to ignore these things.

My husbands observation...
by megsmomma inwe were just discussing the whole thing about how only those jw's that live through the big a will be able to still be sexual beings and pro-create.
he said that the society is useing our most natural desires to scare everyone into staying in the org and hoping, above all else to live through the big "a".
and i was saying to him that if i still believed what they taught, i would kill him and my baby to save them.

Wow...that is crazy mene mene.....
His letters make him sound rational and fairly "normal".....like most JWs. The thing is though....the things they are taught make it SEEM logical to possibly kill loved ones....but, then again, why would he be killing the other people that he didn't like? To me it seems that he didn't really understand the religious doctrine fully....or he would have thought he was doing his "enemies" a favor.....

Ok...thanks Buddy....I read it a coupple times thinking I just may be blind after all!
Edit: I just read the letters...Man, those were tragic. Sounds like maybe the wife was a JW...and he knew just enough to feel hopeless.
