can anyone substantiate?

i heard from a very reliable source the following regarding the dateline episode that aired on nbc: j.r. brown was the guest speaker at the convention that i attended two weekends ago in albany, ga. and he stated to a close friend of mine who always has parts on the convention that dateline clipped and changed things around so much that a negative light was cast on jehovahs witnesses and that it was not reflective of what the society was led to believe would be presented.

he also said that at some point the society requested a live interview with dateline but they refused.

Watchtower's statements to the congregations were that they would not comment publicly on what appears to be differences between Witnesses. Public televison interviews were not an apporpriate venue for disagreeing Witnesses.

It is the one and only admission that Watchtower has ever made, in my opinion, that this is not 'persecution from Satan' and not 'persecution from the worldly governments' and not 'persecution from disgruntled former members';

This is an important admission from Watchtower that they have hurt their own people and their own people have to go outside the religion to obtain justice, compensation and closure.

A tremendous victory for all the jw's, non-jw's and ex-jw's who have worked together so hard for so long in an unprecedented effort toward postive change. The lambs are ROARING!!!

It's very simple.

Watchtower in its literature ordered its members (even before baptism) to not speak of the crimes of other JW's to anyone except the elders. Period. This was in the Lamp book, the Organization book, the Organized book, dating from 1967 onward to this year.

So IN PRINT we have Watchtower telling parents they should not report molestation of their children, elders not to report molestation, children not to report their molesters, or they will be guilty of gossip/reviling/slander or whatever and in line for expulsion/shunning themselves.

And in addition, this means rapists will be going to people's doors.

This isssue is SOOOOO over. Watchtower is SSSOOOOOOOO going down.

In 1957 Wiliam Schnell predicted that Watchtower, if it goes down, would do so becasue of its literature.

Watchtower comes full circle.

Back in the early 1900's maria Russell sued CT Russell for support. She won, and she won handsomely. Russell then, honest-hearted person that he was then <gag> <choke> took his money and gave it to the Watchtower. It didn't work. The court ordered Russell to pay or else.

Then, Russell gave the money to a new Watchtower. It didn't work again. So then Russell gave the money to a new Watchtower in a different state. That STILL didn't work. Finally, to keep Russell out of jail, his followers scraped up $9000 to pay the debt FOR HIM.

It didn't work a hundred years ago and it sure as h**l won't work now.

Watchtower has run their mouths off one time too many.

They have prophesied for years that the government was going to turn on the religions and that God would have to step in in order to have to prevent complete loss of life.

They are going to TRY and say something like, "well, the passing of laws against pedophiles is the same thing as turning on religions <gag> <choke>" and when we said "in order to prevent the destruction of humans (or the anointed) well, we really meant a complete slowdown in the preaching work."

We gots a lot more vaccinating to do. We ex-jw's are so good we can prophecy the Watchtower's next prophesies..bwahahahaha!!!!!

We aren't going to let them get away with revising their history YET ANOTHER TIME. Oh NO, they are going to be stuck with it this time. The last time.

Watchtower had all the chances it's gonna GET...

They had 120 years of religious freedom, tax exemption, and community non interference.

And in return what did they give back to society?

RAPISTS AT THEIR DOORS.

Watchtower, it is over over and over.....all but the singing!!!!!!!!!

it is entitled,"i raped him when he was 15" and the jwf admin.

relegated it to redundancy and a no-reply status.. twenty years ago i personally knew a female jw who lived in the san diego area and worked in law enforcement.

What Should I Say ?

i'll be speaking this week at a memorial service for my father, and would like to include passages from the bible which are uplifting and comforting, but which do not refer to god or jesus or have an overt religious message or overtone.

i would appreciate very much if members would suggest passages they believe would be appropriate.. joe.

1981 Ph.D Thesis on JWs

i just got my hands on william zellner's 1981 thesis, of another world, the jehovah's witnesses.

the 124-page work was in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a ph.d, through the sociology department at south dakota state university.

zellner's work looks at how the witnesses recruit new members and retains the converts the last part of his abstract says:it is argued that the social characteristics of a group are more important in the conversion process than in the group's message.. .

let me express it this way...these researchers have a unique opportunity to gather and diseminate information that could result in the saving of much heartache and maybe many lives.

The problem is, the standards to which these researchers are held seem to me to be very low, at least in years past. I don't have time to go into detail, and some of the stuff I've been looking at is very old.

AND LARC, PUT UP OR SHUT UP I base my judgements on what I SAW and HEARD Rodney Stark SAY, on that website. I don't see anything unreasonable in that. I have read some of his other stuff (what I could get) and my opinion is only reaffirmed, what he said on that website is extremely consistent with what I have seen of his work so far. He appears to be extremely biased at least and perhaps even dishonest---if he was paid to say something that was not true, and he did it, he drags down his whole profession, and I don't see any of them jumping up to comment on behalf of the silentlambs he basically called liars.

Now, on the other hand, if his words were taken out of context or something like that, his responsibility is to get up there and say so. The fact that he hasn't in all this time, leads me to believe that I and his other critics are right.

larc, you are entitles to your opinion, and I respect that, it isn't your belief I am calling to task. It's what you are doing about it, your actions. He called, basically, the silentlambs who said the Watchtower policies and written statments harmful and bad, and he says otherwise. he is calling them liars.

NO ONE PICKS ON MY SILENTLAMBS AND GETS AWAY WITH IT.
