i admire what you are trying to do in behalf of all those that have been sexually abused, but i believe you are going about it in the wrong way.. you have taken up a fight against jehovah himself and this is futile.

the organization has some flaws, as is expected of any imperfect organization.

with the pre-memorial drums beating through dubland, it brings to my mind how the jw insistence on a literal reading of the 144,000 in revelation 7 and 14 has poisoned their entire outlook of the new testament and the teachings of christ.. although they're the most aggressive proselytizers of christendom, it's no wonder they've cooked up a host of specious rationalizations to demur on invitations to participate in public debates: they must know that their position on this bedrock teaching of christianity, i.e.

that jesus died and was raised for all and in his position of hevenly glory, intercedes on their behalf.

there's no question that any attempt by jws to defend their ludicrous teaching in a public forum would subject them to embarassment and well-deserved ridicule, and expose their cultishess.. and this is but the tip of the proverbial iceberg: look what the literal 144,000 does to eviscerate the power of jesus illustration of the sheep and the goats; it compels jws to equivocate on other crystal clear christian concepts, i.e the sonship of god and leading of the holy spirit.

Gotta taek argument with this. Yes they DO say that, they've been saying it since the time of Russell and show no signs of adjustment of this 'doctrine'.

They say "no one can be saved except through US; no one can get accurate bible knowledge except through US; no one can understand the bible except through US; you should be willing to die (for example, the blood transfusion and the rape resistance dictine, both over forty years old now)for US rather than question US;...

Yes, THEY claim to be THE Christ, and as such are in fulfillment of that prophecy.

A question I can't answer...

my soon to be mother-in-law, asked me a question that i can't find an answer to.

we were talking about my life as a jehovah's witness, and how i don't hate my late father for raising me as one.

more importantly how i don't blame him but rather blame the religion for my aweful childhood.. her question is, "was there anything i enjoyed about being a jehovah's witness?

Your soon-to-be-mother-in-law may not seem to understand what being the child of a JW was like try this: (and show her this from the literature)

1) can't play with any non-jw kids becasue they are 'bad influence'and they are all going to die at armegeddon for eternity, and the birds will eat their bodies.

2) can't be friends with the other kids because they are all going to die at armegeddon for eternity, and the birds will eat their bodies.

3) can't play with a lot of the JW kids because they are reproved/marked/da'd/df'd and they are going to die at Armegeddon for eternity and the birds are going to eat their bodies.

4) those JW's who are police officers aren't fit for privileges of service; they aren't good role models, and they could bring reproach on the 'organization and Jehovah'. If they aren't careful they are going to die at Armegeddon for eternity and the birds are going to eat their bodies.

5) We say thank you to soldiers and police officers etc etc, but we will not grow vegetables for them or mend their clothes or hold their hands while they are dying, and after we reap the benefits of their sacrifices they are going to die at Armegeddon for eternity and the birds are going to eat their bodies.

6) That woman that was expelled and that you are shunning may very well have been a rape/molestation survivor that didn't scream
long/hard/loud/soon enough and you must shun her because she will pollute the organization and if she isn't sorry is going to die at Armegeddon for eternity and the birds are going to eat her body.

What could you 'give' a child that makes up for all of this? What the hell kind of childhood is this? How many Chuck E Cheeses, trips to Disneyland do you think it would take to make up for a childhood like this?

And any JW that says otherwise is a blatant and flagrant liar. Read the literature!!!!

The author of this article is telling the truth. That IS Charles T. Russell through and through. In fact, the author is being overly generous.

I don't believe for a moment that Russell's claims about miraculous healings ended in those days, tho. At the time of his divorce, his wife Maria had been ill, and Russell said, in court under oath, and also in these same Watchtower reprints etc, that 'the devil made her sick'. In many ways he never stopped being a second-day/seventh day adventist--he just made more money at it than they did.

NOTHING except tracts were free. Russell asked for money for EVERYTHING. I believe the 'suggestion contribution' price was right on the magazine itself.So yes, he made these promises in return for contributions.

i used to study with a jw and i would come to this site (against her wishes) and ask dumb questions, and you would answer and give me something to think about.

i was sure the lady i was studying with was my friend and out to help me.
