they use the Mosaic Law code for two reason:
1) they can't find support anywhere else for what they want to do
2) and because these stupid JW's LET THEM. Is there ANYTHING some of these brain-dead people WILL NOT SWALLOW?
Sorry, just venting.
as i promised in this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=29619&site=3&page=1.
here are the scans of a letter from "the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses" regarding a brother's inquiry about donating blood.
this letter is printed in greg stafford's new book "three dissertations on the teachings of jehovah's witnesses".. the scans are not that great but it was the best i could do.. .

i posted a question before regarding the way jws go door to door.
[luke 10:7.23] and remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages; do not go from house to house.
if the apostles didn't do it and jesus said not to, why do the jws do it en masse?
WT 2/15/87
3 The Gospel record of Jesus instructions to his 12 apostles, and later to the 70 evangelists, clearly indicates that they were to go from house to house preaching the good news of Gods Kingdom. (Matthew 10:5-14; Luke 10:1-7) At Acts 20:20 Paul tells of his going from house to house. Those words have been applied to his making shepherding calls, but
Ac 20 verse 21 leaves no doubt as to the activity meant, for Paul adds: "I thoroughly bore witness both to Jews and to Greeks"not to Christian brothers and sisters"about repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus." When making shepherding calls, an elder usually does not urge repentance toward God and faith in Jesus. Rather, he encourages fellow Christians to have increased appreciation of meetings or the ministry, or he helps them with personal problems.

Not only is there sound Scriptural basis for our going from house to house but the fruits of that activity show that Jehovahs blessing is upon it. Yes, "wisdom is proved righteous by its works." (Matthew 11:19) Frequently, those going from house to house have seen evidence of angelic direction that leads them to those who are hungering and thirsting for righteousness. The householder has said that he or she had been praying for help and that the Witness visit answered that prayer.
I posted this in another thread, BANG this is your second or third attempt at this...I give you credit for effort.
In another thread which I can't find on this board, someone who works , I believe, for the IRS said that Watchtower qualifies for an additional tax exempt status if it is a 'teaching' and/or 'educational' organization.
I'm still researching this, but this is what I have so far:
Watchtower learned the hard way not to put all its eggs in one basket. So it keeps it tax exampt/military exempt staus in at least three ways that we know of:
1) religion
2) minister/clerical
3) public teaching/educational. THIS is a reason JW's must go door to door and THIS is a reason for the Kingdom Ministry schools and even the elder's schools, pioneer schools, MS schools and so on. (that, and the 'special' and 'private' club gimmick which all cults use so well)
From what this poster said, qualifiying for this particular exemption is not public like charity or religious, it is an IRS thing. He even named the particular IRS code specifically and everything. It's here on the board somewhere, way back when I first started posting about a year ago.
A lifetime ago it seems.. <sigh>

this morning we published a very moving story written by a jehovah's witness whose 15-year-old son died supporting the watchtower's society blood policy.
to the best of my knowledge, this is the first time a jw parent has gathered up the courage to face down this monstrous policy after losing their child.
this is a very special person indeed and when we finally gather enough of these folks together and set them in front of the right attorney, the wts will be in for some serious litigation.. at present mary is in the midst of divorce from her jw husband and nailing down a custody agreement, so the identity of her and her son must remain anonymous.
As a nurse-in-training, I did a lot of my clinical in the neurological ward of a big hospital. Where the children were, there were several who were comatose. They maintain these unnatural body positions, and they are on mechanical breathing devices among other things. I asked the head nurses what was wrong with them.
She said "Near drowning victims".
Yes, you can pluck children from icy cold water after twenty minutes and bring them back to life and all, but this is not an uncommon result.
So too, in the cases where life-saving blood is given too late. At room temperaute, the major body organs can only last so long without precious oxygen that only blood can carry. After FINALLY getting blood into that body, the process of damage MIGHT be stopped, but delay and delay will result in damage just like those near-drowned children. In many cases, oxygen has been deprived for far too long; the organs are permanently damaged without precious oxygen.
again, Watchtower LOVES to brag about all their elcetive/planned surgical interventions, which does NOTHING for
(1) trauma victims and
(2) MOST JW's who live in areas of the world where they have no access to training and equipment.
God may not be a respecter of persons but Watchtower certainly is. Hmmpph...

That's the ruling as I understood. A JW can donate blood with the understanding that it will be used for blood fractions/factions whatever.
I do not believe there is any such thing as donating blood that can be converted to fractions and stored for the donaters use.....it is possible to donate blood to be be stored for your personal TRANSFUSION use, and even then it's like a month at most.
everyone that is pushing for a don't ask/don't tell rule in the Watchtower, keep up the good work. I think we are making great strides, let's not give up when such progress has been made.

The
House-to-House Activity2
The first, and perhaps most distinctive, way in which we can show our love and appreciation is by going from house to house with the good news of Gods Kingdom. Doing so requires real freeness of speech because it continually involves direct confrontation with others, many of whom will view us as a bother. It takes genuine love for God and for neighbor to keep going from door to door, though we may meet up with indifference, annoyance, contempt, or direct opposition.Compare Ezekiel 3:7-9.

Blah blah blah blah.....we're supposed to go door to door because we say that Paul said that Jesus said so.
I totally believe the going from house to house was apparently Paul being the equivalent of a traveling circuit overseer. It very much looks as if he stayed in their homes to teach and preach to Christians, for his letter - the 'you'--was to Christians.
Somehwere on this board is a very good post by someone who said they worked for the IRS. There is some kind of tax exempt status one can get if they are a teaching organization. that is why we have the Kingdom Misery Schools and the door-to-door preaching work...becasue Watchtower learned a long time ago not to put all its eggs in one basket.
1) tax exempt as a religion
2) tax exempt/miliary exempt as ministers
3) tax exempt as a teaching/educational organization.
for all the good it is going to do them, they are being sued and picketed by their own members...BWAHAHAHAHHA you just gotta luve it!!!
Good topic

don't have time to look for it right now, but Watchtower claims that this has to do with STAYING in one house after another; the traveling disciples were supposed to be invited in and STAY there for the duration of their visit to the city and not move from house to house.
I think it is a questions from readers. will look when I can.
O course, they are totally full of crap as usual.
bible's view: women can hold positions in the congregation.
proof?
ro 16:1
yeru: care to back up your claims? (women taking the lead?)
hint: Jesus and Paul DID not speak English.
Dungbeetle: of the 'rubbing hands together anticipating an easy victory becasue I know my WOMEN and the BIBLE subject' klass.
i, myself are not a witness, i am 18, male and live in england.. six months ago i met a 17 year old jehovah's witness, became very attached to her and grew to love her.
her mother does not approve of the relationship at all and has resorted to threats to throw her out, grounding her, ignoring her, contacting elders, unless she discontinues seeing me.
first question: if her not seeing me makes her very unhappy and her seeing me makes her very happy-why is it wrong that we stay together?
Why don't YOU just stop seeing here so she can have a decent family life? It must be %+^& for her right now to be at home with her family feeling the way they do. She IS under age, and think about legal ramifications for yourself.
When she turns 18, then see what she wants to do.
JUST DO IT!!!

Thanks you, I really appreciate your insight into things. Aside from being a man, you are also from a different culture and your insights are valuble to me from that standpoint as well.
I have heard from others that some issues are more enforced in some place than other, depending on the particular elders involved. I still wonder to what degree this is true.
The interesting thing to me is that Watchtower ALREADY had a Two-witness two-act rule for many years regarding misconuct on the part of JW's, (two-different acts by two different witnessess, if credible, can be basis for expulsion/shunning) and Watchtower just needed to apply it to child abuse. Which they claim they are wiling to do now.
By the same token, Watchtower ALREADY has a DON'T ASK/DON'T TELL policy for many things. Surgical sterilization, abortion, oral/anal sexual relations, and a few others. Elders as a rule don't go around ASKING the flock if they are doing these things, action is only triggered if they get specific information somewhere. They could at least do the same with medical blood therapy.
I just feel like just because Watchtower claims the Bible says ''omen cannot be treachers' (a subject for another post) does not explain this other behavior (microphones BIBLE READINGS readings for the Watchtower study and bookstudy) and they do not even attempt to explain it in the literature. This is a terrible way for girls to grow up.
And a big part of the problem too is the governments and the communities looking the other way under the auspices or pretenses of 'religious freedom', and that is changing at least.
