I went to last year's one after not having gone in a good ten years and it was one of the most sumpremely uncomfortable exeperiences of my life. My dad is good about not guilting me into going to meetings, but he really wanted me to go to The Memorial, so I gave in. Not this coming one though. And I don't think he'll be going either.

The Memorial...
by Justice-One indoes anyone still go to the memorial?
i was just thinking that although i made it quite clear to my wife that i was not going to go to anymore meetings or conventions (i made a comment about not wanting to be there when the kool-aid came out) that i caught myself thinking the other day that i might go to the memorial just to keep her happy.
but then i thought why?

I just it was intresting that we'll walk around for ever in our national cosutmes. And I figured Jehovah being Jehovah and all would use his Jehovah-powers to instantly clear the rubble, make everything either a meadow, an apple orchard, or a water fall by a meadow by an apple orchard and it being paradise, carefully styled baskets of cauliflower and tomoates would spill over tables while women with shampoo commericial hair and toothpaste ad smiles play with a Koala bear cub or smile at a handful of grapes. The idea that we would have to clean up the bodies never occuried to me and certaintly never was tought to me. However I did read in one of the recent WTs about how meetings will go on in The New System, so I'm glad for my long dirt nap.

What name would like to see for the "2007 District Convention"?
by new boy inthere many to choose from --------------how about .
" millions now living will soon be dead" (with no hope of a resurrection)--------------that means your unbaptized freinds and family members.
"how we have created god in our image" (jealous, hatedful, petty).

I always pick up on the "mature ones" anvil planted numerous times in every article. Mature Ones = Judgemental Old Farts period. They encourange "young ones" to be friends with them to avoid making friends with kids their own age and risking breaking free, and they know that their numbers in the US are dwindling so they guilt/prepare children/young married to be responsible for their care. Not that we shouldn't look after each other. It just drives me batty that the governing body and by extension mature ones have no problem not giving a shit about anyone else, in the congregation in the big bad world but plant seeds in all the literature that they deserve to be taken care of after turning their backs on anyone who wasn't putting in enough hours at field service. It's an old people's religion, run by old men, and young people and the new ideas that come with them scare them. So what do you do, guilt and shame them, damnably effective.

Yeah it's just a bit too cloak and dagger thrilling cliffhanger adventure touched by an angel ending to be true. But what does make me said is that I do believe JWs in China and third world countries would risk their lives to help each other, and spread "the truth". I makes me angry to know they're risking it for a lie, and it makes me angry that so many JWs in the English speaking world are without fail, nasty, back-stabbing, self-rightous hypocrites.

Where do JW's take their breaks today?
by moshe ini was at a buffet restaurant on saturday for lunch and noticed a boy around 10 years old at the ice cream sundae bar- he had a suit on- .
i was curious as to where jw's take their breaks today and what times they stop for one.
i am on paid leave from work and would like to look for more opportunities to talk to them..

It's funny I hardly ever see JW's in service or run into the ones from my old cong, and this is quite a small town. McDonald's of course is where we would stop and at gas stations for a soda and candy.

Does anyone now celebrate...
by Hannah indoes anyone who was raised a jw and is now df'd of da'd celebrate all the holidays?
i do, and for the first time in my entire life i'm actually having a blast and so are my children.
at least my youngest child doesn't have to suffer the segregation all jw children surrender to due to the freakin' mind controlling gb and all there so called "god channeled" rules..

JW Weddings
by Jeffro inat every jw wedding i ever went to, the celebrant has always said without fail that "the bride and groom have requested that no rice or confetti be thrown".. is this spiel used everywhere?
is it actually a request of the bride and groom, or is it just bombastically imposed by the elders (i.e.
a lie)?.

The recent WT has a series of articles on this, I'll see if I can pull scans and quotes. But of course it is a yes this may be the happiest day of your life but your always happiest about Jehovah, right? Right? Better say yes dammit! And that it suggested after the exchanging of vows a talk "may" want to be given before the guests go to the recepition. Between this and the statement in another recent WT that meetings will continue into the new system of things I'm very glad I shall be resting in the cold, cold ground for eternity when I die.

Rainy Days & Monday Mornings
by Outaservice inmost normal people i know and am around, look forward to the weekend and nice weather.
even though i have not been a publisher for several years now, i still associated weekends with taking the group out in service and baby sitting a lot of the kids from the hall, who the parents dropped off.
what a pleasure monday mornings were when i could go back to work.. also, nothing was greater than a stormy blizzard in the winter, or a thunderstorm (.

Yeah I think the reason my tv watching is erratic is I'm so used to never catching any show that played on tuesday or thursday, plus my mom being strict about what we could watch. We never went out in field service much. So I actually liked it. Well I liked the driving through the senic country roads and getting Dr. Peppers at the gas station part not the walking up to the door to tell them to become a Jehovah's Witness or die in The Big A part.

District Assembly Games
by *jeremiah* ini left the jw's when i was 17, so most of these games were played during teenage years.. here are some things i remember doing with my friends during the assembly:.
1. the last clap.
after a brothers talk or when "new light" emerged and the entire stadium would erupt with clapping we would see if one of us could be the very last person in the entire stadium to clap.. 2. the laugh game.

Ah but those swiss miss vanilla pudding cups, I've tried buying them in the store and they're just not the same, the cups are square enough.
