let's suppose you have documentary evidence that every miracle recorded in the bible actually.

would this be enough to prove that the bible can be relied on?
I believe that there is intelligent life out there in the universe...i dont think we are alone.
but as for jesus or god or the miracles being the works of aliens, that I am not too sure about.
I think that just because there might be ET life out there in the universe, it doesnt disprove a creator.

it would definitely depend on the circumstances.
I am the type that can forgive him having a one night stand with someone, but not a love relationship behind my back.
I can forgive sex, but I'd be too hurt if he loved someone more than he loved me...I would tell him that I hope he is happy, and then I would move on...

i know the society tells people not to listen to rock n roll cause its from teh satan, not to watch r rated movies because they're "worldly", etc.
but i was wondering if folks had any specific instances where one song, one show, one movie, or whatever was singled out as being particularly 'evil', and banned on an individual basis?
i was never a jw, but was in the worldwide church of god...the two are rather similar, i've seen many (and made quite a few myself) comparisons on the board; and i can remember as a child that every once in a while certain things would get brought up as being more evil and worldly than others.. examples of specific bans:.
My mother and father would change the channel if Roy Orbison would come on tv, since we werent allowed to listen to the radio, only to my parents oldies vinyl records.
I think they went to a roy Orbison concert, and if memory serves me correctly, (according to my parents story), he made an accouncement that all JW's were to leave. I doubt this was true, but this was the reason that they refused to watch him or listen to his music.
Twisted Sister - I remember that was considered very heavy metal and very bad.

There are some crazy, hateful women out there, but not all women are like that. There are some very kind, caring, giving,intelligent women.
Just like not all men are rapists, or chauvinists, or lazy arrogant selfish assholes,
There are grood and wonderful men who are giving, supportive, caring, intelligent, hardworking.
Cant lump one sex into one category. it's kind of ignorant, dont ya think?

They do not believe that their being of the anointed gives them special "insights" beyond what even some experienced members of the great crowd may have. They do not believe that they necessarily have more holy spirit than their companions of the other sheep have; nor do they expect special treatment or claim that their partaking of the emblems places them above the appointed elders in the congregation.
suuuuuuuure, why dont the rank and file see this as domineering and controlling?
