  Shunning Policy

  a little bird told me that some members of the governing body are unhappy with the shunning policy and want it changed (presumably due to the bad press from sites like these).

  apparently they were overruled.

  is this yet another policy that will start to be diluted and eventually dropped altogether or what and can anyone back up the rumour?

  ''Who here thinks we should lighten up on the severity of shunning of disfellowshipped persons?'' (All hands are raised save one or two)

  ''Who here forgets what will happen if we let them talk to those who are disfellowshipped?'' (Silence)

  ''Ah-ha, did you all forgot that if we let them talk to those who have left for doctrinal reasons, they will be free to tell all their friends and famiy the real reasons why they were disfellowshipped...which means more will leave, which means, well, less contributions....''

  (everyone starts nodding)

  ''Ok, show of hands who is favour of keeping current shunning policy'' (all hands are raised)

  ''That's what I thought brothers, meeting adjourned.''

  he bit the tip of his tail off but my son and i were able to rescue him and turned him loose at our pond.

  " filth and i'm trying to read it.

  my sil (never a jw) wants me to help her in some kind of reply to my mom.

  Jeremiah,

  This book made me want to the first 3 paragraphs. and my MIL wanted me to study itas if I forgot the JW doctrine.

  I would get your SIL to hand it back to your mother and tell her that this book was written for 3rd graders, and is an insult to the average intelligent person. Persons with above intelligence would not even bother reading past the first page because of how ridiculously it is written.

  If I was your SIL, I would hand it back, and ask my mother in law to either find something else that is written for intelligent adults, or to not give me literature again.

  Your other suggestions were great also!

  does the ot support the christian doctrine that a heavenly messiah would come and redeem us of our sins, due to adams fall, hence the advent of jesus christ?

  or was it a made up doctrine by the early followers of christ to give credence and purpose of existence to their faith?

  if the latter is the case then it is understandable why the muslims believe that the christians are so wrong in belief in christ as a heavenly figure.

  we all know 7 symbolizes perfection or "heavenly completeness".

  I cant say for sure that he doesn't exist.

  I am not closeminded,

  if there is strong evidence presented for either a God, or No God, then I will base my beliefs on the facts presented.

  Did God ever Exist?

  reading so many posts on atheism which is the belief that there is no god, and reading comments from creationists made me ponder if there was an alternate reason for our existence.. if god is up there, why does he permit suffering?

  if i were god, i wouldn't of let it happen in the first place, these are my children, why would i let them suffer?

  maybe i am influenced by my creationist upbringing and beliefs while a jw, because i find it hard to wrap my brain around the idea that everything came from nothing.

  Among these charges are lying, theft, and lust at someone other than her husband. She proclaims that she is not a liar. I propose a professional lie detector test. Clearly she should be interested in clearing her good name if innocent. Her husband will no doubt be interested as well. If successful she could be the first person in two thousand years to be proclaimed not a liar. Should she refuse to take the test, I will add the label COWARD to the growing list of character faults.

  FMW, please keep in mind that you are the one who opened this up with your charges against God. If you are found guilty of any of these charges against you, then it will prove that you are completely incapable of judging God. How can a liar choose what's best for others?
