Nothing.
by Narkissos inperhaps this paradoxical "topic" is one with which we here have dealt a little more, or a little more consciously, than the average population.. we used to have our heads full of beliefs (which we called "truth") in every direction: on theology, on cosmology, on paleontology, on past history, on so-called prophetic future, on heaven above, on earth, on she'ol beneath.
on many things -- current events, traditions, other peoples' beliefs and behaviours -- we had strong opinions which were directly or indirectly (the famous "conscience" matters) part of the same deal.
and of course our life was filled with activities and relationships, a community of "friends," people to "help" or "teach," etc.. then, gradually or suddenly, we came to suspect, often with a measure of terror, that all of this was not what we had thought and might sooner or later turn into... nothing.. this "nothing" is perhaps one of the most scary thoughts to people contemplating leaving the org one way or another.

Say, your neighbor likes having sex with animals....do you intervene? What if your neighbor loved veal and kept baby calves in his basement? The blood-curdling cries at night sending shivers up your spine. What if you found out your neighbor and his "son" were members of NAMBLA? Would you report them?
If this is what is happening in your neighbourhood, then you should seriously consider moving. baby calves in the basement??? are you kidding me?
of course I would report any pedofiles to the police.
none of my neighbours are having sex with their animals, I live in the city, people here walk their dogs.
Where I live people have families and go to school and work like normal regular people. I am part of that demographic too.
Just because I dont follow a religion does not mean that I have no code of conduct and ethics. By your sentence I get the sense that you feel people who are anti-religion, atheist or agnostic are evil people without morals....would that be a fair assesment of your viewpoint?

1. What happens to a person when they die?
I dont know, the only eveidence I have seen is that we decompose and turn back into earth. But, I'd like to think that our energy goes on.
2. Who is God and what is his name?
God is within all of us. His name is whatever you want to call him, her or it.
3. Why is there suffering in the world?
Ditto to what Crumpet said.
4. How did we get here?
Many theories...evolution, creation and then god went away somewhere, or aliens planted us on earth. I'm not sure and am waiting for the eveidence to come in...if proof of our origins doesnt come in my lifetime, I'm ok with that.
5. According to the Bible, is it okay to participate in wars and politics?
Yup. Ceasar's things to ceasar and god's things to god. If ceasar wants you to go to war, you would do it, since he asked it of you. If I was ever sent to go to war, I would not kill anyone...that is my own personal principle. The only time I would kill anyone is if they were trying to kill me, or my children. Then I would have no qualms with putting them down as humanely as possible.
6. Is the Devil real? If so, where did he come from?
The Devil was invented so that people could have a scapegoat to blame for all their problems. People like to hate Satan. If God were real, He made up Satan so that people wouldn't think God was such a screw-up.
7. According to your religion, is it okay to smoke marijuana?
I don't have a religion, marijuana should be legalized so that religious people can smoke it with a clear conscience. Me? I think it's a treat and should be used in moderation just like everything else. In my country it is not illegal to posses a small amount for your own personal use.
8. According to your religion, is it okay to have pre-marital sex?
Religions are there to tell people what to do, when and how. I think sex is a natural act, that we make too big a deal about it! it's a form of pleasure and continuation of a species...you don't see monkeys making religions to stop one another from copulating 24/7...and we call ourselves more advanced....
A group of men decided what scrolls were inspired and what weren't. It is a collection of stories and historical facts written by men, and shouldn't be viewed as inspired. The Catholic Church wanted to remain in power, and therefore had this agenda when putting the Bible as we know it together.
If god was all powerful, then god would tell us what it is exactly that he inspired men to write!
9. According to your religion, how do God feel about homosexuals?
People are people, if I had a religion, I would never join a religion that hated or preached against homosexuality....as long as we are not hurting anyone, (unless they want like that) and all are consenting adults, we can have sex with whomever we want!!
10. Does God talk to you personally?
No, and if I ever did hear a voice, I'd be checking myself in as a schizophrenic patient and getting the right medication.

The more you learn, WTWizard...the more you will let go of the belief that they ''might'' be right....
this is just the beginning of your journey to letting go of the WT mindset...it takes a LONG time to get them out of your system...
but once you do you will feel the rush of freedom...
I wish you all the best on your journey....
There is no paradise, there is no armegeddon....
much respect,

The Kingdumb Melodies
by WTWizard inone of the things i find distasteful is what the witnesses' taste for music is.
they have the same 225 songs that they had since 1984. and many of those were carried from the previous book.. what i noticed while i was there is that none of the songs are really music.
they are so poorly written and performed that i think whoever was in charge of it just threw it together.

Song 18 is the worst piece of s*** I have ever heard in my life. Blessing our brotherhood? What the $#$% were they smoking when they wrote that? For sure, I wonder how it qualifies as music.
Isn't some of the best music we know written while under the influence of some good $#%T ?
If they had been smokin' the good stuff, I bet the Kingdumb Meoldies would of been written SOO MUCH BETTER!!!
(Not that being sober produces bad songs...)
just my 2cents.

Life's Short. Get A Divorce

I don't believe that ad will have much impact, sure it's shallow, but I'm sure people who read it will see that for what it is...a sales pitch.
Here is my take on Divorce:
(speaking from observing my parent's marriage since I was 8)
40 years of being a horrible marriage, staying because it was the ''right'' thing to do.
If she had of left him while she was still young, (like I begged her to when I was 9) even with all her children, she would of made it....on her own. She stuck it out in a rotten marriage and look what it got her. NOTHING.
My father would not change, he got away with having his cake and eating it too. He never would of left my mom. I dont blame him, who would do all his cooking and cleaning?? He missed my mom terribly after she kicked him out. SHE WASTED THE BEST YEARS OF HER LIFE ON HIM. (that is HER fault!, she has no one to blame but herself for being a martyr.)
So, If you can work it out, do so.... do it by making changes first. If your spouse follows you, then great!
DO YOU LOVE YOUR SPOUSE ENOUGH TO MAKE CHANGES?
if you say,''No, I dont love them'', then what's the POINT in staying in an unhappy marriage???
Dont stay in a miserable marriage if only one of you is going to work at it....
as long as you know you have put in 100% of your energy into making it work, and it still doesnt, you can leave with a clear conscience.
Don't waste the best years of your life being miserable.
Just my two cents.

Do you get "tired" of "Apostates/ex-jws" bashing the WT to you?
by booker-t ini know it is good to let out pent up anger for healing purposes, but do you ever get tired of some "apostates or ex-jws" constantly bashing the wt?
for instance when you or having lunch and all they do is say "the evil wt this the evil wt that" during the whole time you are at lunch?
sometimes i just don't feel like hearing it especially when i am at an event for fun.

Well I can see how it can get tiresome to hear about it 24/7.
you would get sick of anyone who behaved that way about anything , any subject...
some people are like that, they get obsessed and focus on one thing, and that is all they talk about...and those people are tiring to be around because of their intensity and one track minds...
