Personally, I think many of the adults who seek out the JWs and, sooner or later, become one are often mentally disturbed in some way to begin with.

Lifetime raised JW's did you find your parents sick with obsession?
by restrangled inwhat has come back to me and what i have realized through this website is that my mother was probably mentally very sick with this religion for most of her life.. it was a sickening obsession to obey, tattle, feel extreme guilt, turn in family members, and never, ever measure up no matter what she did.
endless months of pioneering, meeting attendance and studying for meetings were not enough .....ever....she is now 73 years old and still trying to pioneer in the exhausting heat of florida.
in her full time pioneering days she came down with breast cancer.

Gospel of Judas -anybody watching?
by divejunkie inthe national geographic channel is presenting a brand new documentary tonight about the findings of the "gospel of judas" .
now a few years back - my brother (ex-elder, df'd, and self-proclaimed apostate)presented me with the possibility that maybe the portrayal of judas was wrong.
maybe the role he played was not of a traitor but of someone who made the sacrifice of doing the dirty work that jesus needed in order to get "the ball rolling" -sort of speak- for certain events to happen.

It wouldn't surprise me if Jesus and Judas hatched a plot. It would be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Or, what if the leaders of the fledging church decided after several decades had passed after the crucification, that someone had to take the blame.
Just my two cents,

Hi,
This is the dustrabbit checking in after a long absence.
Got a question for all of you in the Denver, or at the very least, Colorado area:
Does anyone remember a JW psychologist who was in the Denver area? I'm trying to locate this guy. I think his last name was Lavato. Does anyone know who I'm talking about? I remember he was taking JW patients back in the early 1990s. I remember he was a really liberal guy for a JW.
If you know who I'm talking about but don't want to reply here on the board, you can reach me at [email protected]
Thanks, Justin
