HI Frenchy: Your comments are indeed insightful. My siblings and I are very close and we have discussions about the Society all the time. My brothers have told me that they don't believe that Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth and that there eyes are open to the duplicity in the organization. However, they just can't get beyond the fact that people look up to them, that people follow what they say, that in some instances they are almost worshipped. Maybe they are in a group all their own, but outside of the organization they have menial jobs where people are telling them what to do all the time. Then they get dressed in suits and shirts and ties and go to the Kingdom Hall and suddenly its all different. They are Brother So 'N So and now they are in charge. They love it. Outwardly, you would think they are the most faithful witnesses, but in private they know they are part of the scam. That was my point, they just don't care if Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth or not, the organization fulfills a need for them, fills some sort of gap that is missing in their lives and they will not give it up. I know it sonds like they are completely a-moral, but its not like an actual religion to them, its just a job that they love and they will not give it up. What can I say.

They Don't Care If It Is Not The Truth
by Dutchy inone of my brothers in an elder in his congregation and the other is a co. they have both told me that they don't beieve that jehovah's witnesses have the truth and they are aware of the hypocrisy in the organization but they don't care.
they will never renounce their membership in this organization.
when asked why they say that they love the adulation given to them by the brothers.. the are always the first to be invited to the homes of the friends, they are sought out for advise and it makes them feel like big, important men.. the truth is that this organizaation does serve a purpose for some people.

it was a nice, relaxing time, with a few jw hiccups here and there, just general gossip and harassment from the wife's parents...nothing new.. then, my sister met a wonderful guy.
and it just so happens he's a jw....that's where the similarities with the religion end.

I'm with your mother, Ashi. The last straw for me was the UN debacle and it still sticks in my craw. I cannot get beyond it. I am outraged at their duplicity and it is incredible to me that anyone can know about the organization's inclusion in the UN and not know that they hav been duped!

I don't believe that there is a more sincere and caring person that Bill Bower. His assistance to those who were and are abused by ones in the organization is heartrendering and it is hard to hear someone speak ill of him. It is obvious that he has undergone great personal sacrifice in order to advance his cause. I, for one, hold him in high regard. My hat is off to you, Mr. Bowen.

my wife almost died of an asthma attack along with an allergic reaction in 1999. in 2000, we saw all of our friends abandon us.
yet, we as a couple were as strong as ever, and continue to be.. in the fall of 2000 my brother-in-law did something remarkable.....he said no to the abuse his parents were bestowing on him.

The truth is that this organizaation does serve a purpose for some people. Whether it is right or wrong has no real bearing on their decision to belong. If you are "in the world" and you are someone with a menial job or someone who is a loner and doesn't have many friends and male and then you come into this congregation and you begin to rise through the ranks and given more and more "privileges", why this can be a real rush for some of the men and actually tends to reinforces the belief system proferred by the Watchtower, because lets face it, most of us are vain anyway. Add that to "see how great I am and how Jehovah is using me" and you have a diehard JW. Nothing the Society can do or say can swerve this type and it is their job to keep the other witnesses in line and this they do with gusto and pleasure. Its so, so sad.

I enjoyed your post and know that there are many other accounts in the Bible that defy reason. Yet many people cling to a belief in the Bible and many others take what the Bible says literally. It makes you wonder since I believe that we as humans have an inate need to worship a diety. There's an old saying that says that in times of hardship even the agnostic cries out to a god.

Equality? I remember that as late as the '70's the Society held circuit assemblies where whites were on one side and blacks were on the other side. Their explanation was that white people would not attend the citcuit assembly in that area if it were integrated. I always felt, though, that they should have been the example of integration between the races, but no, they chose not to. I also remember white Kingdom Halls and black Kingdom Halls.
