Sure JW parents should take the time to tell their children they are loved. But when do they do this? Before or after they are told that all their little friends who are not JW's are going to be killed at Armaageddon and if they don't do everything that is taught in the Kingdom Hall then Jehovah is going to kill them too. And if Mommy and Daddy and sister and brother are not doing everything taught in the Kingdom Hall, then guess what? Your whole family is going to be destroyed. Then after you are killed buzzards are going to come alone and pick at your dead innards. And if you are ever disfellowshipped or dissassociated nobody in the family can talk to you or associate with you ever again. And if you are ever sick and need a blood transfusion we are going to let you die. Yes, JW's really have a lesson of love to teach their childtren.

Knock Knock...
by KistByQpid ini'd be interested in hearing some of the exjw's door-to-door experiences.
i've probably had the saturday morning door knocking...maybe 6-8 times.
i've never been "rude" except for once...when i had a particularly aggressive pair who wouldn't take "no thank you" for an answer.

I rang the doorbell and a guy comes to the door wearing nothing, and I mean nothing, but a pair of extremely skimpy animal print underwear. Well, I don't know where to look so I start giving him my speel and he's standing their listening. He's not the least bit embarrassed and he takes the book when I offer it to him. When it was all over and he closed the door I realized that I had been looking at his crouch area the whole time I was talking!

I'm sorry, but their letter is a "load of crap" and they are lying. They are absolutely not telling the truth and I know it. I live in New York City and I have been to the United Nations and have made inquiries as to how an organization obtains a library card. It is absolutely not necessary to join the UN as an NGO to obtain a library card. There are stipulations for getting the card, but joining the UN is not one of them. They society has credentials and they are a world wide corporation and they could have surely gotten a library card without becoming an NGO. Even if what they said was true they should have just turned their backs and walked out leaving the matter to Jehovah. It makes me sick to think that I used to be a part of this outrageous, hypocritical organization!

Good Quote!!! (Apr 15, 2002 WT, p.29)
by stevieb1 inthis is taken from the very latest watchtower magazine and should be applied to many who sit in the high places of the watchtower organization.
here is the quote:.
"it is significant that these two waldensian pastors - daniele rivoire and guiseppe bancheti - expressed appreciation for the way russell explained the bible.

If Russel rose from the dead and joined the society today he would be disfellowshipped right away for any number of reasons, because the religion that is practiced today by JW's is far and away different from the religious beliefs that he held.

Nothing Worth Reforming
by metatron inif you're struggling with becoming an ex-jw, stick with web.
sites like this one, as part of the healing process.. being here - and getting a better education - has helped me.
realize that the watchtower has little or nothing worth preserving,.

Metatron: I suspect that your daughter's "worldly" friends appear to be more moral than her peers who are JW's simply because JW's legislate morality. Therefore, as a JW you are not allowed to live by your conscience as to what is right and wrong, but instead you look to the Organization to tell you what is right and wrong. JW's set the rules as to what is right and wrong and expect their followers to obey them and, as we all know, those rules are subject to change at any time.

question about shepherding calls
by blindfool ini'm just curious about something and thought some of the former elders and such could answer.. i know of some witnesses who are sick and can't come to the meetings.. we used to call them shut-ins in church.
i don't think that any elders or pioneers ever visit on a regular basis.
it seems to me that it would be easy for a pioneer to rack up some good hours by going by and having a weekley book study and wt study with these people.

As a former pioneer I can answer your question. A pioneer can only count time when talking to a non-baptized person. If these people you refer to are already baptized then the time calling on them or studying with them cannot be counted. Therefore, pioneers have no time to devote to people who are already witnesses and therefore cannot be converted. Pioneers have to get their time in and this is no way to do it.

The "Right" to sell Useless WT
by JT ini jw sent this to me today to let me know that "we" got the right to "spread the good news of god's kingdom".
enjoy.
on august 14, 1997, former president bill clinton unveiled new executive guidelines aimed at protecting religious expression in the federal workplace, provided that it does not conflict with an employee's work.

Just because the governement gives one the Right to preach our religion at the workplace, does not negate the Duty we have to our employer to do the job he is paying us for. Work is certainly no place to do the preaching work. I once worked with a JT and she was pioneering too. Every chance she got during the day she would go downstairs and stand by the elevator bank with her magazines. We were on the 63rd floor and she would travel all the way down to the lobby, stand there with her magaizines for maybe 15 minutes and then travel back up again. Our elevators are fast but still it took time. She didn't just do this at lunch time, but several times throughout the day as well. Needless to say, she was fired.

What are some of your favorite urban legends?
by BQE inmine is the story of a lady who was witnessing alone in an apartment building, and aparently she knocked on the door of some rapists/murderers/drug dealers......whatever......she was "saved" by two angels, only visible to the attackers, that accompanied her on that visit.
.
or how about the one where a householder had his finger on the trigger of a gun and was just about to pull it when.....all of a sudden....out of nowhere (drumroll please) a witness knocked on his door and offered him "the promise of everlasting life in the new system of thingstm"!!

A brother was giving the Sunday discourse at the Kingdom Hall and he was holding his green bible. The talk was on organizational loyalty. All of a sudden he holds up his green Bible and says now if the society tells me that this green Bible is blue, then I will believe that it is blue! Schmuck!

Wt will Win case Before Supreme Court
by JT ini think the small time lawyer will be out gunned on this one- most small towns always end up passsing goofy laws like this one.
while i have no love for wt i do know a poorly written law when i see one exp when the mayor is walking around in affect saying: "ww want to keep you people out".
the boys in legal laugh when they see some elective dude say some off the cuff remark like that.

I agre that the First Amendment has to be ptotected at all costs. If the WBTS is the one that helps to keep it protected, then so be it. At least, they are good for something productive, and you have to give credit where credit is due.
