I don't recall being asked that in 1967.

Double Mastectomy and a punctured vein???
by bluesapphire ina close friend of ours who is a jw recently found out she had to have a double mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes due to cancer.
she and her husband do not have medical insurance because he was laid off a few years ago from his union job.
he started his own business but work has been slow.... anyway, having a pre-existing condition, the only insurance he could get her was through kaiser.

If You Had To Have A Religion Which Would You Not Mind Belonging To?

THis is what I would be - Unitarian Universalist.
Unitarian Universalism is a religious community characterized by support for a "free and responsible search for truth and meaning". [ 1 ] Unitarian Universalists do not share a creed; rather, they are unified by their shared search for spiritual growth and by the belief that an individual's theology is a result of that search and not obedience to an authoritative requirement. Unitarian Universalists draw on many different theological sources and have a wide range of beliefs and practices.
Historically, both Unitarianism and Universalism had roots in the Christian faith. Contemporary Unitarian Universalists do not necessarily subscribe to the historic beliefs of Unitarianism and Universalism, espousing a rather hands-off approach to religion, whereby the followers could be considered atheistic, devout, and all points in between.

If you don't attend a judicial committee...
by bottleofwater inwill you get automatically disfellowshipped?.
-
mimimimi
They will do whatever they choose to do, whether you are there or not. I was not even invited to the JC where I was disfellowshipped. One of those elders called me on Sunday morning and told me my disfellowshipping was going to be announced at the meeting that morning. That was back in 1975 and I don't remember for sure, but I think I did refuse to go to the JC.

started a firestorm on facebook
by mimimimi inlast friday i posted something supportive of gays on facebook - it was as follows: put this on your status if you know or love someone who is gay.
my wish is that people will understand that being gay is not a disease nor a choice- people who are gay are not looking for a cure but acceptance and equal rights... 93% won't copy and paste this.
will you make it your ...status for at least one hour?

kurtbethel,
Yes, I agree with that. But I get a kick out of it because I can keep up with my nieces and nephews, as well as my youngest son, who I don't see a lot of, and his girlfriend. And I have friends on there who post family pictures that I like to see. I usually don't post anything, but I posted this particular thing to be supportive to another one of my nieces who has a gay family member and had already posted what I posted.
I am amazed at the people who go into facebook several times a day and post whatever they are doing all the time. I don't know how they find time for it or why they think anyone is interested. But there are some things that I am interested in. Another one of my nieces yet had a premature baby in June and he is still in the hospital and has had to overcome a lot and put on body weight. She keeps updates on there about him and how he is doing and I really appreciate that, especially since she is in Minnesota and I am in Illinois. Not everything on facebook is worth taking your time to read, but some things are. It's like anything else, take what you need and leave the rest.

Welcome! I lurked here for a long time before I joined too. And I went through so much guilt because I could not keep up with the demands of the Watchtower Society. So glad for you and your wife that you have been able to fade together. I look forward to hearing more from you.

Yeah, Loosie, I figured Melissa's science was exactly that - MELISSA's science and not anyone else's. She is a total moron.

"When you have a person tell you with tears in his eyes it would have been easier to be straight and be normal, tell me if that IS A CHOICE?"
I am sure being gay in this society can be very painful. That is why I wanted to put up the original post. Love and acceptance and equal rights are sorely needed.
"bet that would short circuit her puny thought processes"
Puny thought processes is right. I told another one of my nieces that Melissa has never had an original thought in her life. She wants to be accepted by her peer group - J-dubs - and she is unwilling to allow anyone else an opinion that does not go along with her peer group's opinion. In fact, she feels no one has any right to any opinion that does not go along with hers.
"In other words, I don't care who you fuck, just don't fuck with me!"
Well said.

Yeah, purps - women are HOT! There's some hot guys out there, too, though. Decisions, decisions.................... Maybe a little of both.
