It would be a blessing if it ever happened, but I can't imagine how. I'm sure that they would find someway to DF him. Then they would humiliate his family and put them through hell.

Imagine an elder stepping up to the microphone and.....
by JH inimagine an elder stepping up to the microphone at the hall, and instead of doing his part, he would just talk about all that's not right in that religion and take his time talking about his doubts before stepping down as elder.....and no one would stop him from talking because he is respected and because he would be the head elder and every other elder would be taken by surprise and wouldn't know what to do..... has this ever happened, do you think it could ?.

It's no accident that you are here.
by nvrgnbk inyou are the product of a wondrous living universe!.
.

TheCoolerKing
Nah, I'm certain I was an accident. There's like a 7 year gap between my sister and me! I'm sure my parents didn't think they could have any more kids at their age!
But I'm glad to be here anyway!!! And nothing compares to hanging out with wonderful Apostates!!!

What didn't you do because you were a JW that you now regret?
by jwfacts ini just bought a bottle of wine for an exjw's 30th that i am about to run off to.
on it there was a great quote by mark twain:.
"twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do... explore.

but the fact that I just dropped him for NO REASON other than religion, when he was the nicest guy too, made me feel like the biggest a$$hole.
I can really relate to what eclipse said. I gave up my girlfriend, who was also my best friend at the time to be a good dub. I regret not staying with her.
I also wanted to play baseball in high school. I loved baseball as a kid, but mom wouldn't even let me try out for the team. Something about "bad associations spoiling useful habits"...

'I have nothing to look forward to'
by darth frosty inmy 81 year old mother has alzeimer's.
visiting with her yesterday, she said she would rather go ahead and die ,because 'i have nothing to look forward to.
' this is a woman who's earnest prayer as she found herself getting old in this system of things, was to live to see 'armegedon'.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts darth frosty.
Sorry to hear about your mom’s situation.
I can relate to what you are saying too, about getting out while you are young. Fortunately for me, as well as for my family, most of us got out of “the cult” while we were still relatively young. But my own mother is almost 75 and she has been a dub for most of her life. I spoke to her the other day and she is still saying that Armageddon is around the corner. My mom refuses to believe anything bad about the JWs. She has given her life to them and has also given up everything that could have made her happy, all because she felt that she was doing the right thing. Serving God through his “True” organization. I often think about what a wonderful life my mom could have had, were it not for The Org. The reason that my parents separted years ago was because of “That Religion”, as my dad used to call it.
The whole JW religion and the senile old men that still control it just make me sick to my stomach. So many good hearted people have been taken advantage of for so long.It truly is very sad indeed.

What was your WORST Field Service encounter???
by TheCoolerKing insomeone mentioned to me the other day about going door to door back when i was a jw.
"weren't you scared to do something like that, knock on a stranger's door?
actually it's been so long that i had almost forgotten.
-
TheCoolerKing
He blocked our way to the door and started swearing at us, while another guy came around the corner with a knife in his hand. I hit the panic button to my car alarm, which caused the young brothers in the car to realize something was wrong and they came to get us. We got out OK and neither one of us thought to call the police.
I'm so glad you made it out of there Vanilla! That was so scary! Again, why did / do they have teenage girls going into strangers homes alone???
I felt so sick to my stomach the whole time we were there, I remember trying to keep my legs from shaking. I kept thinking is this where we get raped and murdered???
Welcome to the board Namaste! What a horrible experience that you had to endure! Thanks for sharing that painful story...hope to see more of your posts in the future...

"Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
And be a simple kind of man.
Be something you love and understand.
Be a simple kind of man.

what was the strangest/worst counsel you recieved from elders ?
by flipper inhaving been in the organization for 30 years, after i got out i reflected on this.
as a teenager i was told to not let my hair grow over my ears because i might stumble other young ones in the congregation.
also, in order to carry the microphones i was told i couldn't wear white socks, had to wear black or dark blue socks.

The dumbest advice I personally got from an elder was regarding education. I had started attending college and one of the elders decided to sit me down to, as he said, "give me some good advice." His words of wisdom were, "I've heard, Brother CoolerKing, that you have started attending college. Since the new world is fast approaching (the year was 1982), do you think that it is wise to pursue such a "worldy" goal as college? Things would be much better for you if you would quit college and spend more hours in the field ministry."
All I can say is that I'm glad I ignored this elder's wonderful advice back then...
