Hi again. Why does the number of posts indicate how long someone is here?

Would Everlasting Life under Jehovah's rulership appeal to you?
by frankiespeakin ini don't find it the least bit appealing to even think of living forever under the jehovah's rule because he is such an egocentric god.
always worrying if you make him mad.

Hi Frannie, I like how you picked up that one with the "Thou shalt not kill" bit, and then the massive attacks that he told Saul to carry out, and when Saul had mercy and spared Agag, and others when he was ordered to attack the Amelekites(1 Samuel 15), Jehovah was angry with him for sparing the life of some of the "enemies". How was any of this showing love to neighbor? I was told by the elders of course that "war is not murder" and the command only applied to domestic murder within the nation of brother or sister. Once again, that doesn't answer the question, it is merely an excuse. Loving neighbors, whether they live 10 feet or 10 miles apart don't kill each other, period. It becomes extrememly difficult to follow a Torah that is already hard enough, when you have a wishy washy God giving commands to kill. Of course, Moses makes a perfect candidate for this, since his ministerial field service hours started with the murder of an Egyptian that he buried in the sand. Come to think of it, the bible starts with a once murderous prophet and ends with one (Paul). If it were up to me, "I would say let peace be peace, and love be love. No Jesus no peace, know Jesus, know peace" (Butters 34:27)

I gave a talk on that once. I still feel bad that I forced myself to speak such horrible lies like "It is wrong to question Jehovah's organization and authority on any matter"... I left out the part "Question those who love Jesus"... Here is an interesting link some of you may find funny, unless you are a Republican: http://www.thefrown.com/frowners/becomerepublican.swf

What do you mean "God" does not exist, Zeroday? I may no longer believe in man's written record of events, or man's false predictions coming from a book publishing company, but I know there is definitely a source of creation greater then us in power in the universe. I know man didn't form the sea and mountains. God exists or we don't, one or the other. I would like to see the story you were referring to Jerry1, if you could post another link or the actual page here. By the way, how long does the "Newbie" label last here? I see Jerry1 has been a member here since January of 2005, but is still called "Newbie"?

I remember another time giving a talk on marijuana and thinking to myself how hypocritical it is to preach against one of God's plants, which does have medicinal value if used properly just like anything else (one would not smoke eggs), and the bible's word about "green herbs being good" in Genesis. I was thinking of being really honest, and showing some scientific facts, but that would not be very watchtowery of me.

What other religions predicted a date for the end of the world?
by stapler99 inthis is an argument that i have had with some jws, who claim that if jehovah hadnt been behind the organisation then the organization would have petered out after doctrinal changes, failed predictions, etc.
the idiotic example of a cult that did this was the peoples temple cult (well what do you explect if all the members commit suicide?).
also it is claimed that the fact that jehovah's witnesses still exist as a religion proves that they were never obsessed with dates for the end of the end of the world (1925, etc), because if they were then everyone would have left.

Sometimes I think about the difficult choice of what to eat for breakfast as the more complicated issues in life. This morning it was a toss up between an omlet or eggs benedict. For me, I am a firm believer that as intelligence increases, happiness decreases. Thankfully, I am really happy now.

Allegedly we are all going to be transformed into beings that are no longer capable of free thought, and the idea of sin will no longer enter our minds. We will be given new bodies that cannot die, and we will live forever planting corn.

Thanks for this zeroday. I just looked up that link you sent. Let's see, that site should be going down then within the next couple weeks right? October is half over, and no bomb yet. I wish I had a little book with all the dates that man has ever set for events to happen, that way, I could definitely narrow down and know when Jesus is not returning, or war is not going to start.
