New Light contradict Old Light??????
by zeroday inwatchtower february 1881 p.188.
if we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different.
with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another.

Boy it's been a while since my brain has been subject to that type of horse hockey. Uhh, I sure hope more people get away from those articles.

You could come up with a whole new category of person on that one Amazing (by the way are you a cookie monster or elmo?)... But don't knock the combination of "God and Science" (Science-Fiction) because I happen to like Star Trek.

Hurts so good?
by return visitor ini know many have been hurt by association with the wts, but i was just wondering, are there any truths that you accually can take away from your association with it.
for instance, before becoming a jw i would recite the lord's prayer, and had never read in matt.
that is was not to be recited, but that it was mearly there as an example of how to pray.

There are some things I "observed" (not learned) that the WTS "promotes" (not teaches) that I can agree with. Dressing neat for business occasions for instance, was something I never really applied myself at until getting in the routine of wearing a full suit as opposed to looking at who we have our haynes on now watching football on Sunday. Which reminds me, what I am I doing on this computer... the Jets are beating the fish... But in the bigger picture, the false hypocrisy outweighs the appearance of good character and love shown on the outside. Inside they are full of all sorts of treachory.

Uh, Is that part of Solomon about Barbara Streisand by chance? Could be a prophecy the Witneses missed. They had that steam locomotive/bohemeth thing down pretty good, didn't they?

Why was Olin Moyle Disfellowshipped?
by VM44 indoes anyone know exactly why olin moyle was disfellowshipped?
the only reason i can think of right now is that he wrote a letter that rutherford didn't like.. why did rutherford have to make such a big deal about the letter?.
it could be that rutherford's personality just could not let any criticism be left unchallenged.. --vm44.

I always thought it was because of his name. Sounds too much like "Popeye Doyle" the philanderer in that movie "The French Connection"

Oh, ok thanks. So really, a newbie could become a junior member in a matter of days then I suppose? I just saw the little display above this post that indicates how much more I am allowed to contribute at a time. This is neat.

As time goes by, will there be "less" disfellowshipping?
by JH inif i compare the congregation i attended 20 years ago, and the same one today, it would seem that it's just the core that's left.
many left or got df'd years ago.. and those that are left, are either ms, elders, or former ones.
and then there's the kids who grew up.. i wonder if the congregation is getting more and more refined as people are df'd?.

I did a study on the whole disfellowshiped verses remaining and family sprawl, and have concluded that most of the world doesn't like Jehovah's Witnesses. After doing the study, I suddenly realized I didn't need to do a study to realize this. Most people don't like anyone coming to the door unannounced. Perhaps the only solution will be more fearful homeowners with ammunition, and nerves that have gone three days without a stiff drink.
