smiddy3, you do realise that is a quotation of anti-cult Russian lawyer, Alexander Korelov, not the sentiments of Massimo Introvigne or bitterwinter, don't you?

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse reported last month that
F.85 In the delicate balance between the need to provide an individual child with confidential advice and support (whether medical, psychological, legal or social) and ensuring child sexual abuse is prevented, it is essential to recognise that there are some circumstances where privacy ought to be protected and some where prevention is paramount.
I do not doubt that elders and the Legal Dept would find it easier if reporting was mandatory. However, as the IICSA found, there are some circumstances when that is not in the best interests of the child.
In July 2016 the UK government launched a public consultation on reporting and acting on child abuse and neglect. It concluded in March 2018 that the case for mandatory reporting had "not currently been made" and did not introduce it then. The report concludes (para.54):What would be considered to be appropriate action under the duty to act would therefore depend on the particular circumstances of each case.

Jehovah's Witnesses Scripturally Based Position on Child Protection
5. When elders learn of an accusation of child abuse, they immediately consult with the branch office of Jehovah’s Witnesses to ensure compliance with child abuse reporting laws. (Romans 13:1) Even if the elders have no legal duty to report an accusation to the authorities, the branch office of Jehovah’s Witnesses will instruct the elders to report the matter if a minor is still in danger of abuse or there is some other valid reason.

Vanderhoven, perhaps I was being pedantic but I was trying to answer your question. It is not a relationship with the "Governing Body" that is required, but to support the Christian congregation (Christ's anointed "brothers"). It may be argued that you cannot support the Christian congregation without supporting the "Governing Body", and that may be true although I do not hold to that view. But I don't read anywhere in the publications that we need to have a relationship with the "Governing Body", only with the Christian congregation (Christ's anointed "brothers").
But since this teaching is analogous to the requirement of baptism (the antitypical ark), perhaps it is worth addressing the question about what happens to those who do not have a Christian baptism.
Vanderhoven7 : Where does the GB stipulate that ex-Jehovah Witnesses who are honest-hearted apostates to Jehovah's organization may survive Armageddon?
No doubt the GB considers "honest-hearted apostate" to be an oxymoron, so the literature only goes so far as to say God has committed judgment into Jesus’ hands, not ours. But perhaps I should mention I had my tongue firmly in cheek when I excepted the members of JWD from a free pass.
peacefulpete : I noticed on the WT website they revised the 1978 brochure in 1979.
Yes. They read slightly differently :
1978
No. Many millions that have lived in centuries past, who were not Jehovah’s Witnesses, will come back in a resurrection and have an opportunity for life. Many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before the “great tribulation,” and they will gain salvation. Moreover, Jesus admonished that we should not be judging one another. We tend to look on the outward appearance; God looks on the heart. He is the one who sees accurately and judges mercifully. He has committed judgment into the hands of Christ Jesus, not ours.—Matthew 7:1-5.
1979

You can find it online at the link I provided - JW in the 20th century, 1979, p.29. I don't think the 1978 version is online.

Vanderhoven7 : Doesn’t the Governing Body judge peoples destiny based on their relationship to them?
No. The September 1989 article above says that "for survival ... they have to remain organized with the anointed remnant, the 'chosen ones' ...". I think most Christian religions teach baptism is necessary for salvation (1 Peter 3:21), but I wouldn't describe that as a relationship to the Governing Body. It's a "relationship" with Christ, but it's also treated as an initiation into the Christian congregation i.e. you cannot be a Christian without being baptised.
But to get to the point, the question obviously arises what happens to those who are not baptised, or who have renounced their baptism. Although Paul was pretty damning about those who renounce their faith (2 Peter 2::20.21), I think when it comes to judging people, God "has committed judgment into Jesus' hands, not ours".
I agree with TD and others that ambiguity is largely there for public consumption, but there are no clear answers as to whether those who do not accept Jesus Christ (due to genetic, family or religious background ... or just plain ignorance) will be saved.

Vanderhoven7, my reason for posting was to show that the reference peacefulpete made has not been expunged from digital rewrites.
It is similar to the quotes "Sergio" provided, "God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges mercifully. He has committed judgment into Jesus’ hands, not ours".
I particularly liked "if we humans were responsible to judge, how could we properly evaluate factors such as: ... did his genetic, family or religious background affect his response?" In my book the effects of "genetic, family and religious background" basically give a free pass to most of those rejecting the Kingdom message, excepting the members of JWD of course.

peacefulpete : Back in the 80's there was a brochure (I think it was the JW in 20th century) that made an exciting declaration that was news to us, that JWs do not believe only they would survive because God was the judge.

Vidqun : That means Covid-19 infection does not cause myocarditis/pericarditis.
That is an impressive study and does conclude "there is no increase in the incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis in COVID-19 recovered patients compared to uninfected matched controls." However, that does not mean that Covid-19 infection does not cause myocarditis/pericarditis. Why? The report says :
It has recently been reported that the incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis is increased in COVID-19 patients during the acute illness. However; whether or not myocarditis and pericarditis after the recovery period are a part of the long COVID-19 syndrome is yet unknown. Herein, we studied the incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis in a large cohort of COVID-19 patients after recovering from the acute infection.
If we consider the incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis during acute COVID-19 illness the results are different. The report referred to above in the New England Journal of Medicine concludes :
The vaccine [BNT162b2 mRNA] was associated with an excess risk of myocarditis (1 to 5 events per 100,000 persons). The risk of this potentially serious adverse event [11.0 events per 100,000 persons] and of many other serious adverse events [pericarditis, arrhythmia, deep-vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, myocardial infarction, intracranial hemorrhage, and thrombocytopenia] was substantially increased after SARS-CoV-2 infection.
See this image for risk ratios for adverse events after vaccination and COVID-19 infection.
So, both the vaccine and COVID-19 increase the risk of myocarditis. COVID-19 also increases the risk of pericarditis and other serious disease. I do agree that the case mentioned by the "Telegraph" is an exception to the rule and that most young, healthy people who contract Covid-19 do not suffer serious adverse events.

Jeffro, your interpretation of the chart is correct if Rehov V was destroyed in 900 BCE. But if it was destroyed ca. 925 BCE (as the article 14C dates from Tel Rehov: Iron-Age chronology, pharaohs, and Hebrew kings proposes) then the geomagnetic variation curve would be shifted 25 years to the left. The probability distribution of ages is dependent on the historically dated chronological anchors, and when there is no such anchor and the date is uncertain (as in the case of Beth-shean, Rehov V and Tevet VII) the curve is unreliable.
Further, there are different ways of calculating the geomagnetic variation curve. As the article says:
According to one approach, a probability distribution of ages is calculated using a curve constructed independently from the object being dated. According to another approach, adopted here following Livermore et al., the datum to be dated is included in the Bayesian procedure used to produce the curve. (my italics)
You are trying to use this new method to prove or falsify certain dates. It doesn't do that.

Newtons prediction for end of the world
by dothemath inmaybe this man (sir isaac newton), has more credibility than fred franz in picking a date for armageddon ?.
interestingly, newton(brilliant mathematician, everyone must know him) was very interested in the bible and revelation .. .
what newton tried to do was determine a particular timescale for the apocalypse.

Newton only concluded that the end would not come before 2060 and that it might be later yet. He wrote (Yahuda MS 7.3g, f. 13):
I mention this period [he continued] not to assert it, but only to shew that there is little reason to expect it earlier, & thereby to put a stop to the rash conjectures of Interpreters who are frequently assigning the time of the end, & thereby bringing the sacred Prophecies into discredit as often as their conjectures do not come to pass. It is not for us to know the times & seasons which God has put in his own breast.
