1914 & Generation What change?

i have read through many posts on this website that refer to the fact wtbts changed their viewpoint on generation and its relevance to 1914. there was just an article out in the wt (last six months) that reiterated the fact this viewpoint did not change, and that the wtbts still expects the generation who were around in 1914 to physically see the conclusion of this system and the visible second coming of jesus here on earth.

the wtbts did state they consider anyone being born in 1914 would be applicable, which is a change from earlier discussions, but they have not (from what i have seen) said that generation could pass away altogether.

sincerely i ask: if anyone has that information i would love to see it.

Johnnyc - take some time to think about all of the information over the next few days. This subject has been very confusing for me also. I didn't even know about the 1995 change until I found JWD because I've been out since about 1980.

The comments above have helped me better understand. I hope after a while it will make more sense to you also.

Oompa, thanks for bringing out that point that the statement about no change only was in answer to the question they presented in the magazine. It didn't have anything to do with the generation discussion.

Some of us take a little longer to 'get' it. You guys have been so much help in explaining the changes and the flip-flops. Thank you for being patient in trying to explain.

When I left the WTS I never even questioned the doctrines. I just didn't like the cult like control.

i have been visiting this site and others for a while (to be honest those items about how dangerous the internet is made me wonder what they were hiding).

anyway, i have been amazed at how most of the issues i have are experienced by many others too.

but for starters here's my main ones:

Brothers in the US are allowed to stand but not sing and put their hand in their heart.

It's been a long time since I was in but as I recall we (in the U.S.) were allowed to stand silently with our hands at our side for the Pledge to the flag but were supposed to remain seated for the National Anthem. Have things changed?

I always tried to avoid situations where they played the National Anthem so I wouldn't get beat up. Your study conductor sounds like a really good one - like he knows it's not the truth but maybe feels he has to stay for family.

INPUT NEEDED ON JW BELIEFS

i'm at the beginning of putting a package together regarding the wts and i'd like your opinion on which topics i should include.

basically, this would be a package for those who have family or friends in the borg, but who you think might listen to reason if it was presented in the right fashion.

it's not going to be a huge package, because i don't want to overwhelm anyone, but i want the information to be precise enough that it would stop and make them think.. so far, i'm thinking that i'd like to touch on the following:.

Going to the Prom not allowed as a JW

i didnt go to my prom because it was not allowed.

i didnt even bother to ask.

i don't regret it alot, but it would be nice to have a picture or two for memory sake.

My parents did not allow me to go to my prom in the middle 1960s. Some congregations are not as strict though so it probably would depend on what part of the country and even what part of town the family is in. And also would depend on how brainwashed the parents are.

After I graduated and moved half way across the country I did go to a prom with a fellow witness that wanted to go but did not have a date. I was a few years older than him but took advantage of the opportunity to go since I had missed my own. I do not recall there being any issue with the congregation in that area.

Bethel Photo Album

i want to put together a little video for youtube of all the big bethels/assembly halls from around the world.

could 1 person from each country post a googleearth shot of the bethel and assembly halls in their country ( three for the us, wallkill, ny, paterson) .

i think it would be interesting to put together a video album of all the real estate globally!

it seems like most posters have no profile, but this info could help in several ways.

i am just guessing, but it seems like more here were born in.....your thoughts on this?......oompa.

3rd generation - born to 2 pioneers (my infant self put a stop to that activity )

Didn't manage to get out until 30 years later. Parents still seriously in.

I thought the first section of Zeitgiest was very interesting and intended to do some research to see if I could find out more about the claims made. In a previous thread someone pointed out some of the inaccuracies in that first section.

Whole wheat crackers, tasty and good for you -- NOT

my wife -- bless her heart -- is always on the lookout for me.

knowing that my blood sugar drops to less than 50 between meals she bought me a package of those keebler saltine crackers.

hmm ... they are tasty ... but why aren't they brown?

Even Dr Oz accidentally said you should eat "Whole Wheat" the other day on Oprah. She corrected him by saying "You mean Whole Grain". He agreed he had said the wrong thing.

We have a bag of 100% Stone Ground Whole Wheat Pastry flour that my daughter bought thinking it was healthier. Guess what the ingredients are - Stone Ground U.S. No. 1 Premium Soft White Wheat. Always look for whole grains - not whole wheat.

We also try to avoid all high fructose corn syrup.
