  Had that darn "weights" dream!

  When I was 19 my best friend had one of these "dreams". She called me terrified and I went over to talk to her. She was convinced it was a demon.
  
  She had been temporarily paralysed when she "woke" up and she thought her little dog was too because neither of them could move. Her father fixed old clocks and she was just sure one of the clocks he took in had a demon in it.
  
  I had never heard of this happening to anyone else. Now 40 years later I find out what it was.

  My husbands observation...

  we were just discussing the whole thing about how only those jw's that live through the big a will be able to still be sexual beings and pro-create.

  he said that the society is useing our most natural desires to scare everyone into staying in the org and hoping, above all else to live through the big "a".

  and i was saying to him that if i still believed what they taught, i would kill him and my baby to save them.

  Hi Megsmomma & Buddy. Small world it is. My son was one of the officers that stopped Mark Barton. He had Barton blocked in with his patrol car and was facing him with his gun drawn when Barton shot himself. Barton could so easily have turned that gun on my son first. Scary thoughts.
  
  I had never seen that letter before. Not only did he say "system of things", he also mentioned Jehovah twice in the same letter.

  Funeral - What can I expect?

  last weekend my father`s father passed away at the ripe old age of 94.

  he was a jw, converted at the door some 40 years ago.

  the funeral is next week, with a "service" at the kingdom hall he used to attend (he was an elder), followed by a visit to the crematorium.

  You mentioned that most of your family are not JWs. Have you discussed the possibility of contesting the Will with any of the other direct descendants like yourself? Perhaps several of you could get together and consult with an attorney concerning contesting the Will.
  
  Do you know how long ago your father's father signed the Will? Was he very old and perhaps not completely competent?
  I would strongly encourage you to at least try to keep the $$$ from the WTS.
  
  My father's family just gave their inheritance of about $600,000 to WTS last year. Elders went to the hospital with a completed Will and had the person who had Alzheimers sign it leaving everything to WTS. After his death there were other, in my opinion, criminal acts that took place that I won't go into here. Since my JW father is living I was not in a legal position (beneficiary) to dispute what happened.
  
  I have been told that if there is a dispute the WTS will not force the issue. They have become so greedy over the last several years that may no longer be the case.
  
  I would encourage you to at least try - even if you don't need the money - just to keep the WTS from getting it.

  Well ... that was interesting. Within a few minutes I found a picture of one fellow I dated when I was in high school (>40 yrs ago) and another picture of a fellow I knew when he was just a little boy.
  
  The experiences and some of the other stuff turned my stomach but the pictures are interesting to see.
  
  What is the website? It's kinda hard to navigate in the small screen.

  Major Clean Up After The Big A?

  one of the more shocking things i've come across on this forum is that supposedly it'll be our responsibility to clean up the mess armagedon made and make the world a paradise during the 1000 year reign (jw's belive in the 1000 year reign, then the final judgement and destruction of satan right?

  my doctrine is a little fuzzy).

  this is new to me, has it appeared anywhere in the literature, talks, or the bible?

  Seems I remember as a child hearing the birds and worms would do their part and then the survivors would have to clean up the rest of the bodies. (I think that's what gave me a phobia of maggots!)
  
  I don't recall ever getting an explanation as to what would happen to all the buildings and other stuff. With only 6.5 million survivors it's probably gonna take them the whole 1000 years to clean up the mess.

  cooking dinner for the folks and the oven caught fire.

  john is an ass as his fuel pump went out and wants us to fix it.. told him to go to the dealer.

  What were you doing cooking for them??? Today was your day to relax and enjoy yourself.
  
  I really hate to see people taking advantage of a nice guy like you. My son is one of those people that gets taken advantage of because he is just too kind hearted and wants to help everyone.
  
  There are training seminars that teach you how to say "NO". I took one several years ago and it helped me.

  Skip ahead to the New System

  brother smith had been missing from the kingdom hall for weeks and we decided it would be best to pay him a visit and see if it he was okay.

  ever since the death of his wife and daughter in that car accident last year, he had gone from an active pioneer and elder to someone we only saw from time to time.

  yet three weeks was way more time then any of us had ever seen, and we were worried.
