  It says, "But a church elder

  who knew of his history interrupted Valentine speaking to a young boy in the toilets during a service."

  It does not say the elder reported him to anyone.

  It does say, "Valentine reported the incident to his probation officer ..." and that "Valentine attended the church under supervision to help with his rehabilitation ..."

  It does not say who was 'supervising' him or why his 'supervisor' was not with him in the bathroom.

  I am also curious why the parents of this child allowed him to go to the bathroom by himself with a known child molester attending meeting. Perhaps the congregation was not notified of what was going on????

  Sorry to be a wet blanket and I so hope changes/improvements are being made. From these articles in this case I just can't see it yet.

  The Signs of the Last Days by COJ and Wofgang Herbst. (this will both make your blood boil and make you feel very relieved to be out of the misquoted "truth").

  I am reading this book now and strongly encourage you to read it next. Awakened at Gilead's description is right on. It takes the fear out of what they have told us about Famine, Earthquakes, Pestilences and Wars.

  This book should be on our 'short list' for newbies to read.

  Hello! Is there a list of WTS changes since 1995?

  a young friend told me about this discussion forum.

  i completely "stopped" being a jw around 1995. i was wondering if there is a succinct list -- somewhere on-line -- of changes/events that the wts has gone through in the last 12 years?

  i haven't received any of the publications or really spoken with any jws in many years.

  as long as i've been here, i have preached that $$$$$ will be the only way for the wt to drop.. many agree on a small level, but think the wt has deep pockets.. they may have deep pockets, but i bet the investments they have have lost quite a bit since 2001.. my main calculation reguards the following hypothesis::::::.

  magazine and literature consumption -vs- donations.

  i know of 2 congregations, and let me post some figures:.

  my 17 year old son told his dad that he didn't want to be a jw anymore about 8 months ago i think, and doesn't go to meetings or assemblies.

  he's been accepted to one of the best universities in the country and will start this fall, with his dad's blessing.

  their congregation had the summer convention this past weekend.

  I'm glad you're seeing the light. Your son has already talked to the PO and explained himself.

  There is no reason other than intimidation that they feel it is necessary for 2 adult cult leaders to gang up on a minor.

  Please protect your son and discourage him from meeting with these guys.

  I was in my mid 30s when my dad told me the elders wanted to talk to me. I told him to tell them nothing I did was any of their business and I was NOT meeting with them.

  they are really talking about it now and how a days wage is worth nothing.

  May I strongly suggest reading Carl Olof Jonsson's book "The Sign of the Last Days When?"

  See Chapter 2 - Famine - Is It Worse Today?

  He explains what famine actually is and explains it in detail comparing historical facts to what the WTS teaches. He also quotes Hal Lindsey, Billy Graham and others.

  I am really rusty on this stuff. Where in the bible does it list the horsemen and specifically, "Food shortage or "world food crisis" is the 3rd horseman"?

  I've looked through Revelation but only see in Chapter 19:11 where it talks about a white horse. The armies of heaven were following him riding on white horses. For some reason I can't find the verses about the other scary horses - as I recall from a picture in one of the old WT books there was a red one & a black one????

  Anyone heard of J.C. Bell? He has formed Bell Bio-Energy, Inc. I listened to an interview with him a couple weeks ago. It will be interesting to see how this develops. Here's a couple links to info on his discovery.

  1914 a time of the end?

  hey folks,.

  i have tried to tell a witness about 1914 and how it was predicted the end of the world, but they come back and tell me that some scripture in matthew i believe, shows how the devil was thrown out of heaven at that time and he came down and started world war 1. so they say even though the end didnt happen, something major happened in the world where everyone went to war.

  i just dont know how to come back to this.

  I am currently reading the book, "The Sign of the Last Days When?" by Carl Olof Jonsson & Wolfgang Herbst.

  It completely debunks the Society's claims concerning Famine, Earthquakes, Pestilences, etc.

  They provide documentation showing the information quoted by the Society in their publications is not what the people really said. Even have copies of letters from some of the people.

  The book was written in 1987 and contains documentation up to that time. It is one that I've seen mentioned on JWD before but after reading half of it so far, I believe it needs to be on our list of books we suggest to Newbies.

  I like the quotation they give at the beginning of the Preface: "What terrible wars, both foreign and domestic! what pestilences, famines . . . and quakings of the earth has history recorded!" - Tertullian, in Ad Nationes, writing in the year 197 A.D.

  It begins by discussing 1914 in Chapter 1 - Our 20th Century - Time of the End?
