Purza--The majority of my dates from online have been very nice. Keep encouraging your friend. I just go into each date with the attitude that I am there to have fun & meet people. I never expect Mr. Gorgeous Sweep Me Off My Feet (although, I am perfectly willing to meet him).
Tnangel73--I loathe the men's ads that start off "I am so lonely...." I am like--get out there, go to a ball game, chat up people at the bookstore. I am with you, I am very busy, no time to be lonely, but would like male company on occasion. These guys scream LOSER and you are right, they want you to have no life that does not involve them. The other guys to look out for are the ones that see that I am a business woman and they want a sugar-mama! Give me a break! I work my a*s off and these bozos think I am going to let them mooch off of me????
Keep'em coming ladies--I don't feel so alone now.

Online Dating
by FreeGirl2006 in*sigh* i was seeing someone for several months, but it is not working out.
so i went back to my only way of meeting men thus far--online dating sites.
i have had some really cool experiences, but i think i am getting burnt out....if i read one more email from a guy that reads "u r booteful and i wud luv to chat with u and then maybe we go out and eat" (or my personal favorite today--"you are eye-popping"--i am busty and the current picture reveals that little fact) i think i will puke!

What Things Would You Not Have Done As A JW That You Would Do Now?
by minimus inas witnesses, we were very concerned that we might offend somebody's conscience and our actions reflected that.
if someone might've been "stumbled" by our actions or speech, we would make sure we would do everything possible to not upset another fellow brother or sister.. i would not have gone to an "r" rated movie.
now, i go to any rated or unrated movie because i don't give a sh*t what smeone might feel over my choice.. what things are you free to do without worrying that someone might be disturbed over it?

Sweetstuff--you are too funny! I went on a date with a guy from Egypt. I told him I was dating around at the moment and not ready to settle on any particular man. He got mad at me--on the first date! I was like "move it along buster". The guys who can't spell really bug me and then there are the men looking for a mother for their child(ren)! Yikes!
Finally Free--I am sure you did not think it amusing at the time, but I had to laugh when I read your reply. I get these old geezers looking for their Anna-Nicole. Not in a million years!
IP Sec--there are even lamer ones! It is not a pretty sight. -

Don't get me started on the ones that I find interesting who either make it a point to state that anorexia is preferred or they live in NY, DC...too far to get involved as far as I am concerned. Right now I could have 20 dates (no joke)lined up and not one of them is interesting on "paper".
So, ladies, how are you meeting men? -

Are You Happy With What you've discovered in Life After being a JW ?
by flipper inmy life personally has taken a much more positive turn after leaving the religion.
less stress to be having nights taken up with meetings droning on.

I feel more at peace not being in the borg. Since I was raised in the borg, I spent the majority of my life in a loveless state amongst the majority of the people I spent time with. Now, I spend time with people who genuinely love me. I have friends that truly are closer than family. I have dates with real men. I have dates period. It is nice to be found attractive--looks and personality. Guys "in the world" tend to like a woman with a viewpoint. It is very refreshing. I also am going to school without all the guilt piled on. I no longer am conflicted on whether I want to spend an eternity in paradise being monitored by the gestapo...

Is it ok to shun Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Missanna inlet me explain myself... for instance when your friends and family keep changing their minds... like my sister she didn't want to talk to me, then we started talking again and now she is back to shunning me.
same with my once best friend we were fine with each other's beliefs then one night she tells me in order to have god's favor she has to shun me.
now she's talking to me again.

If that is what you have to do to protect yourself from your family & former friends, than go for it. That is the stance I have taken to keep from being bruised and battered emotionally by wishy-washy people.

Leaving a bad marriage is not easy, but as each day passes and you get a little happier and enjoy the freedom--it is worth it. Good luck!

Looking for advice from anyone out there with grad or advanced degrees
by NYCkid inhey, i'm finishing up my last year in undergrad school and am considering pursuing grad school.
i am hoping to chat with individuals privately, who are attending grad school or have a graduate/advanced degrees for advice about the practicalities and expenses relating to attending grad school later in life (mid-30s +).. i'm not pursing medicine, law or business, so i'm concerned that the effort and expense of grad school may not be worth it.. thanks,.
nyckid.
