Well that was weird!
by mama1119 ini heard a knock at the door just now and i open it up and its a lady, all by herself with a folder.
she tells me she is doing volunteer work along with thousands of other people around the world to help mankind.
she says volunteers have been sent out into all parts of the worls, including the jungle, eygpt and the middle east...yes, the jungle.

To Benefit the Lurkers and Newbies - tell your story again!!
by AK - Jeff ina nice grouping of stories regarding our time in and exit from the borg would aid all the newcomers here.. how about a paragraph or two [the condensed versions] of how we all found ourselves here today?.

here is the super long version of part of it: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/110778/1.ashx. I was raised in it, really tried and wanted to believe in it, my brain just refused to be shut down, couldn't get happy, decided to take a break, never went back. Df'd twice. Married, happy, 30, been out since age 21. Interested in Buddism.

Maybe she likes gettin it done and doesn't want a chatty pioneer shuffle partner slowing her down. Maybe she wants to warn people but doesn't buy into all the rules. maaayybeee, she's off her meds.

They do actually place more than 50 of those tracts per publisher... :(
by Kudra intoo bad- some folks here did a calculation and said that evin if all dubs placed all their tracts they'd only cover 300 million of the earth's inhabitants (mainly in western lands where people toss them straight in the garbage), thus only reaching a maximum of 4 1/2 % of the earth's population... .
i think many publishers, inflamed with zeal, get packet after packet of 50 tracts each for "placement in the ministry".
(eeeee- i love using those buzzwords!

"Placing" tracts in unoccupied doorsteps, mailboxes, and budget laundromats is a lot like "scattering the seeds on the rocks" darn, my vocab is slipping. I used to be better. Anyways, there are almost equal amounts of householders "placing" the tracts in the round file or in the fireplace.

Honest, kind acts we performed when we were JWs--how does it feel now?
by Pioneer Spit...oh, i mean Spirit ini just read scully's thread about returning money from the atm.
it reminded me of how common it is for hohos to do a kindness, or to return found items, then explain that 'the reason i'm so honest is that i'm a jw and we're honest people, blah blah'.
this was always disturbing to me, as though we had to draw attention to the fantasy that we were different from others and it felt like we had lost our humanity--i now realize how true that is.

Whenever I did the right thing it was because J to the izo was watching me and judging me. When I read Scully's post, I was thinking about what I told my husband last night about this one time I got a dime back from the corner store and I told my mom and she asked me what did I think Jehovah would want me to do. I had to walk my ass back there feeling like a thief. A lot of times when I did nice things, I would still try and figure out if it was the "best" thing I should've could've done. I was hoping I could keep up with the red (-)s in the book of life under 'Future XU'.

Bro and Sis Tubman, Thanks for your work. Like Rebel8 I would probably have to commit idolatry in the victorian decor bathroom. But if I was in your hall, it would be so exciting. I would be in your cargroup every time. It is really sad that some people have given up. I recently ended my quasi-relationship with my parents because it was getting to my head. It seemed impossible to work my mom up to that point, I tried, but I didn't have the patience or the vision to see it through. Maybe someday.

Do Your Medical Records Still Say That You Are A Jehovah's Witness?
by BluesBrother ini raise the question because mine did - until thursday that is.
a routine follow up review appointment was my opportunity to place a 'living will" in my records .
the doctor said "you are a jehovahs witness aren't you" .
