I remember being told the smurf doll story, but in the version I heard during the WT study the doll stood up and started yelling abuse and walked out of the hall. I also remember the two sisters with the angels behind them. The funniest one was the "I was once that guy who made the deal with Satan" story about the guy who wanted the JW girl. I can't remember if it was in a magazine, related at a meeting or at a assembly though.

Your favorite bits of JW folklore
by B_Deserter inwe all hear stories an experiences that happened to a "friend of a friend," and the witnesses are no exception.
they even have their own urban legends.
here are my favorites, and please post yours as well.. 1. watchtower theologists according to one of the old guys i used to pioneer with, there is a super-scary-secret organization of apostates called "watchtower theology.

Awake article on official website
by LaniB inwell once again my fiance has gone through and cleaned my computer wiping out all the cookies.
as i hadn't saved this site as a favourite i went looking typing in different versions to try and find the website and i stumbled across the official website which is currently spouting an old awake article from 2001 on battered women.. it even went on in another article to talk about a guy who attended catholic church but frequently abused his wife but the moment he came to study with the witnesses it all stopped...... of course they don't mention anything about the frequent abuse that happens in their own congregations.. it annoys me so much that they are such hippocritics.. .

I've saved this as a favourite now. Save me typing in jehovahswitnesses.com, jehovahs-witnesses.com, jehovahswitness.org before finally hitting on the right address

I think I owe the board an apology
by LaniB inyes it's past midnight and i'm getting melancholy and starting to rehash my life of late.

Thanks, I suppose it's because I never feel that good about myself. "Low self esteem thy name is Lani". Although its funny in a way. Here I am apologising for making everything about me and I'm creating a topic all about me. I just came back to delete or edit my post to change it from being another "all about me" post but there were answers and I appreciate it. I stopped attending meetings years ago but always defended the Witnesses and put my decision to leave down to not being strong enough and having a suicidal death wish until about a year ago. And then I started questioning things and finally lost faith in it all.

Yes it's past midnight and I'm getting melancholy and starting to rehash my life of late. Melancholy yes, but I haven't hit the bottle yet so its not alcoholly.
Seriously though, I thought I'd offer an apology. I feel like I've come to the board, which has been very welcoming, and been more concerned with me, myself and I then helping out others and I'd like to apologise for that. I wonder sometimes if it's because I was in the borg so long and trying to please everyone else that now I am free I'm very self involved, which is an idea that is rather repugnent to me. I tend to be very anti-watchtower but feel that maybe I am more joining threads and adding my story to someone elses. Does that make sense?
I do appreciate the help I've been given and I will try to post more correctly, well what i mean by correctly is not ranting on about my life as the only form of posting I do.
In a weird way I just feel very disconnected with life. Thankfully I do have an anchor with my daughter and fiance. I just feel like I am trying to rejoin the human race, stay in touch with friends, stop being so concerned with me and reach outwards to others.

I got a butterfly on my right shoulder blade. It's in an area where I can cover it if I wish or show it off when I wish because as Terry said, they are for life. Some occasions I feel like showing it, other times I don't.
I don't regret getting it, it has a meaning to me, but I only ever wanted one and won't be getting another. However I recommend if anyone wants one, especially in an area that is constantly on display, go get a henna tattoo. It's a semi. If, after a year or so of having it, you still want it you can make it permanent.

How Many People Here Have Been "Disciplined" By The Elders?
by minimus inby "discipline" i mean, either private, public reproof, disfellowshipping or something that got you in enough trouble that you had to be counseled by the loving shepherds and it cost you something by not having "privileges".

Not by the elders but I use to have this older pioneer sister who when I first started attending meetings when I was 17 would come up to me every meeting and tell me "you wear too much makeup. You look like a prostitute." The funny thing was her 14 year old daughter would be standing beside her looking like she used a shovel to apply hers and I only ever had on a little bit of eyeshadow and mascara.
It worried me so much I went up to an older sister (who was in her 40's) and asked "Do I have too much make up on?" The sister did a double take, peered closely and said "Oh, you do have make up on after all".
I did however get an elder disciplined. He was an elder from my old congregation and told the elders of my new congregation that I
escapedleft just ahead of a judicial committee. I called the PO of my old congregation instead of him as I'd been requested and found out there was no judicial committee. He got removed as an elder for lying to his fellow elders. (pooooor guy)
