  Is Faith a Virtue?

  by definition faith is something we accept as true though is can not be proven.

  i was thinking about the scripture defining faith at hebrews 11:1 "faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for.... ".

  assured expectation = we are convinced something is true without proof.

  What faith are we discussing here.

  Faith=confidence,trust or

  faith=religion

  or both acting together?

  Its becoming very confusing

  I vote to keep faith=confidence and discard the rest.

  lovelylils post made me think.... dubs pretty much rule that particular sector.

  my mother was more proud of me working for the p.o.

  cleaning toilets than if i had gone on to be a doctor.

  On Finding the "Truth"

  on finding the "truth" a former jehovah's witness asks: .

  what troubled me most as a jw was that how i could be sure i had the truth.

  if you choose a religion and claim it as the truth, it's like saying you are smarter than anyone who believe other religions... imho.

  Interesting topic jwfacts.

  I'm seeing faith as an interior thing promoting unity within and love and compassion as an internal as well as external expression.

  It seems to me that when faith becomes an external expression in itself that it becomes fanaticism. So it should only ever be expressed as love promoting unity and acceptance. So it gives rise to virtue

  I remember Anton Ions- and there was nothing to be criticised in his appearance at all.

  I agree - very handsome, marvellous rich voice, good sense of humour, wasn't at all boring - you have good taste.

  It was his clothing that got criticised - yellow ties matched with fawn trousers, camel raincoat. Once he got married he started dressing very smartly, sharp navy suits contrasting ties wow -

  crazy can't get online, and jwd is a real support system to her right now.. i talked with her a few minutes ago on the phone......... and she is going to call me tomorrow.. her mom is driving her nuts, she is ready to make a change in her life........and i am asking you to encourage her, as she is being very couragious right now.

  i am proud of her.

  she is going to call tomorrow and i would like to be able to read some wonderful things to her from her friends at jwd!!!!!.

  Need some advice on relationship

  as some of you know i now have a new job and my significant other is still at the old place.. i am making very good money and am not putting up with his drama queen attitude or the foul mouth.. he is still the best at what he does and the techs there i do not trust their diagnostics.

  i am going to bring him there in a couple weeks.

  i just enjoy not being around him 24/7 so i guess i am a jerk for feeling like this.

  Further to the above

  My situation is whether or not to start going back to the meetings to support my hubby and to be there for him. But the thing is I find the meetings/the pressure to conform quite damaging to myself personally.

  I'm thinking that If the pressure does not affect me then I can go back - but for now it would be too damaging so I'm going to give it more time and continue to keep the whole jw setup at a distance.

  all the best to you. Hope u understand what I mean. Sometimes i just don't make sense.
