what was the biggest "secret" that you kept from everyone when you were a witness?.
i thought would could have some fun with this topic on a friday afternoon.. back when i was an active witness i started "secretly" dating a "worldy" girl.
there was a shortage of single sisters at my hall.
Instead of going out in the field service on memorial morniing I'd go to the park for a jog. In the park that I visit they alway erect a huge crucifix on a hill. I'd gaze at it and think I really don't feel guilty coming here and doing this. That crucifix had more meaning for me then than the memorial itself in the evening.

(the attorney handling my mom's case is not a witness and she was furious that she was asked to sign a document stating that if the governing body changed their minds on something this would apply to her.. what is strange is that an outside attorney would have a document like this.
is anyone aware of this?.

i'm 36, have 3 kids and was raised in the 'truth'.. since i was about 18 i realized that things weren't quite 'right' but stuck around mostly because my family is so much a part of it that if i left i'd have nobody.

for 18 months i have been at loggerheads with my wife over the wts.

My husband comes home straight after the meeting - dosen't hang around for association.
I met a dub yesterday - she said your husband looks very lonely at the meeting (think she was trying to make me feel guilty), she also said he only very occasionally answers up
so, you are starting to leave the cult.
you begin to meet new people and instead of viewing them all as 'bad association', you begin to view them as fellow humans.
what was your first impression of 'worldly people'?.
My first proper interaction with worldly people was after an end of term party just before christmas. At first I was reluctant to go as I though I'm just not going to fit in. Glad I went - the thing that stood out to to me was their naturalness. The evening went too quickly and I actually ended up enjoying myself.

thankyou so much for all the good wishes you have sent us in the last few days, trev has been printing up the emails, pms and threads, and bringing the cards to show me every day, and i get a lift every time i see him coming in with more of your lovely messages to read.. it's been a tough time for both of us, and it won't get any easier.
i am dreading chemo, to be honest, but i have to bear it, as i would anything that gives me hope.
but that's for monday, and i am going to enjoy myself as much as i can this weekend.

if you had to explain to a non jehovah's witness or even to a jehovah's witness (better called watchtower's witness) the reasons why the wt religion is not worth being with, and why it is worthy of disapproval, what would your high impact arguments be?
if someone asked why is that religion not good, why are you accusing it?
my personal one that I always use that is undeniable and irrefutable is the one I'm always harping on about . (has worked with the people I've used it with)
babies and children having to sit through 5 meetings a week and going door to door (in short they are expected to engage in all the activites the adults are required to)
That to me demonstrates the borg's shortsighted immaturity, lack of love and makeshift structure.

my lovely girlfriend and i sat down over a homecooked meal, and discussed the pros and cons of attending the memorial.. i decided, with her support, that we would attend.. i spent years of my life pretending to be a witness to please my mother.
when i left the witnesses, my mother said some hurtful things.. and those things really hurt me... for a while.
but i established myself as my own person, developed my own relationships, and have gotten a good start on my own life.. i don't know that i want to hurt my mother back, but i do want to make it abundantly clear to her, my grandmother, and all the members of my former congregation, that richierich is alive and kicking.. and i think that walking into the kingdom hall, dressed respectfully in a suit, yet with full piercing jewelry intact, and with erika wearing something classy that steals the brother's eyes, and draws glares from the humble sisters, will be just the thing to send that message to my mother.. i don't plan on partaking or making a disturbance.

was reading your comment on richierich's memorial thread and realized i hadn't welcomed you - so welcome to to JWD.
People will think Vinny will be back soon, he went to the memorial. He is coming to his senses. We are in the only truth and he is figuring that out once again.
Its true - that is exactly what they will be thinking.
I am being love bombed at the moment - one sis has made it her personal mission to ensure that I get to the memorial. And yet these same people will shun me with as much hatred when they learn I have different views re Jesus Christ.
