i would like those of you former jws turned christian to post here.
specific denominations can be mentioned.
i'd just like to get an idea of how many of you there are.
Jehovahs witnesses claim to believe in the old and new testament, they claim to follow Jesus Christ and they claim to be christian so in my book they are christian.

I was a non fundamentalist christian for a while, it gave me the strength and security to leave jws. But don't practice anything now.
sent a letter to mom 4 days ago, came back today stamped "returned" on it... she wouldn't even open it... it had some nice comments in it too.
stupid blanking cult, blinds the eyes of folks so they won't even read what we have to say.
We all plant seeds that will some day be oaks... many years from now, but oaks none the less
i want to make a statement, and, if there is any interest, develope it a bit.. in the interactions one has with a jw, no matter what level in the org.

whomever controls the question controls all.. the jws are trained to control the result of the conversation through argument manipulation.
Your thread reminded me of richard dawkins meme theory. Looking at the JW story like that we can aim to modify the more damaging effects of their beliefs by taking charge of the question. I'm with lt.cmd.lore - so do you have any specific examples we can use.
i've been married to the same man for 21 years today .

my ex-husband is a jw and he has stuck this religon so far in our son's head that he takes are son to meeting and i was okay with him taking him for awhile but, know it's gone to far and he has gottan re-married and his new wife doesn't like me because i'm not in the box with them.
they are wanting to take my son from me because i'm a signal mother.
sorry my spelling is bad but if anyone could help me in this matter that would be great.... i don't want to get to personal.

this is the first time i've been on here in about a month, though trev has been posting some days, so i've been able to keep up with everyone's news.
thankyou all so much for the well wishes you keep sending me, they all mean so much.
apart from my other problems, i've had a really painful back injury for the last few weeks, which has made it impossible for me to sit comfortably at the pc.

this topic came up the other night when i was chatting with nvrgnbk.
as some of you may know, i was born and raised as a jw.
i was actually a 3rd generation jw.
Your experience reminds of when we moved to a new congregation after changing location. My husband was an MS and when the new set of elders heard his first talk they decided that he was too enthusiastic in his delivery so they told him he must learn from the others who were more calm (actually boring and staid). So he had to cool his heels for a while. At his previous congregation there had been no problem - he'd actually been commended for being enthusiastic and lively.
So it seems ones way of doing things and disposition makes a difference in some congregations

very sorry about the awkward situation you are in. I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice here, personally I don't know much about child custody other than that it is very hard to take away custody from a child's mother even if she is a single mother. But of course when its a jw in the equation its often a different matter because they don't give up easily.

our dear mouthy is really having a tough time right now and needs our support and/or prayers.
as some of you may know, she's already lost 3 of her children in death and the other one to the borg.
in the last couple of days, she's had to worry about her 2 year old great-granddaughter being in the hospital with an illness and yesterday, her daughter had a suspicious mole removed from her back and was told there is a lump in her breast which has to be biopsied.
