Dog Owners: Is your pet a Killer?

one of my dobermans today, dragged a tarp off a pile of wood we had covered.

sure enough there was a large pink nose sticking out of the pile.

he went in and dragged out an oppossum which must have weighed fifteen pounds.

I have an Akita. She has killed one cat (ours) many birds, squirrels, rabbits and she even got a HUGE racoon. That doesn't even talk about the dogs she has attacked.

Desclaimer: she is a GREAT dog. She is awsome with the kids and the dog attacks were all territory related. The cat she killed actually bit her on her paw in her sleep. It sank 4 of his teeth into my pooch's paw and she bit the cat once. Of course, that's all it took was one.

Guys, if your wife has a cat, I will rent you my dog for one evening for a reasonable fee ;)

Why can't I have a beard?

i've heard many times that there are some congo's in the us where you can have a neatly trimmed beard and it's perfectly ok. i have never been allowed and havn't known of anyone who could.

how about other countries?.

also, the co called me last month, inquiring about my "spiritual status," including my prayer life.. i told him: "bob, i've prayed to jehovah at least 200,000 times in my life, and he has never once verbally acknowledged my efforts to communicate with him.

I think I'm screwing myself

get your mind out of the gutter, not screwing myself that way haha.. for those that don't know, i'm df'd, trying to get reinstated so i can get family/friends back in my life than fade away faster than the only good radio station you can tune in on a long road trip.

basically, i can't keep my mouth shut.

Vitty, the few points she wanted to pass on are

2 Thessalonians 3:6, 14-15

“Now we are giving YOU orders, brothers, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the tradition YOU received from us…. 14 But if anyone is not obedient to our word through this letter , keep this one marked , stop associating with him, that he may become ashamed. 15 And yet do not be considering him as an enemy, but continue admonishing him as a brother. ”

My point was that even though I am DF'd I should still be shown a certain amount of love as in verse 15.

1Corinthians 5:11

“But now I am writing YOU to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner , not even eating with such a man. 12 For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Do YOU not judge those inside, 13 while God judges those outside? “Remove the wicked [man] from among yourselves.””

This shows us that there are only a handfull of offenses that are worthy of the big D. Not the dozens that the scociety will shun you for.

Then there's

2 Corinthians 2:5-6

“Now if anyone has caused sadness M , he has saddened, not me, but all of YOU to an extent—not to be too harsh in what I say. 6 This rebuke given by the majority is sufficient for such a man…”

where it seems to indicate not everyone should shun.

I decided not to e-mail her these scriptures so my uncle doesn't call out the cavalry.

when your jw family member tells you it would have been so much better if you had just faded instead of daing yourself.

that to them daing yourself is much worse then dfing yourself.

if only you had hung in there and faded they would treat you as family but now it tears at them that they can't talk to you.

what to do, what to do??

I'm kinda in that boat right now. I'm DF'd now, working toward reinstatment so I can fade. It's tough, damn tough! I think it would be so much easier to DA so I can speak my mind about all the things I've learned.

It sounds like she WANTS to talk to you but know's she can't. I would use that as a wedge. I'd sit down with her where there are no distractions but it's private so the emotions can flow. Then I'd start by telling her you wish to tell her the why's and how's of your DA decision. Point out that it's not to change her mind but to let her know that you came to this decision through education and prayer. She has to at least respect that. Then I'd start with things that are very but and dry, like the 1914 prophecy. Maybe throw in something that was difficult for you to understand and how you came to your conclusion so she can see that you didn't just get tired of the meetings and left.

At the end, ask her if she can still love and respect you for your or despite your decisions. She will surely say yes. Then I would ask her if you can still maintain that mother/offspring relationship and just never discuss religion. That will set her mind at ease that you are not there to break down her faith and are not a threat. I can't see any mom refusing that.

I've only been out a few months but I've been shunned by everyone except an 8 year old girl. But I think she got a talking-to later.

In one congo they had an elder meeting almost every other week, this congo hasn't had one in the 9 months I've been here. What gives? Anyway, let's hear the dirt.

My Best Friend... Wasted youth

hi all, apologies if i've put this in the wrong place.

please excuse the long post, i'll try keep it as short as possible.

i just wanted to tell my story.

Man, that hit hard. See, I am your friend. Not literally but in many aspects I mirror your friend. Now that I'm in my 30's and just trying to live for the first time in my life I see my wasted youth. So, from that standpoint I am your friend. In some ways I am you. I now see my friends and want to get them out of this cult soo badly that it hurts. After I am able to get out cleanly I will begin that adventure. I also see this situation from a different perspective. I am a father of 3 and want to avoid my kids being your friend. I do appreciate the many safeguards put in place by the WTBTS but am ticked that I never went to colledge, never felt like I fit in with anyone else and ultimately (now) feel a great lack of love.

For those that don't know, I'm DF'd, trying to get reinstated so I can get family/friends back in my life than fade away faster than the only good radio station you can tune in on a long road trip. Basically, I can't keep my mouth shut. My mom and I were talking the other day. She is trying to convince me that DF'ing is a good thing. I believe this to be at least 100% false so I will respond to her comments and make queries of my own. That was my first mistake. Then of course I find myself opening up an even though I am biting my lip I feel I am saying way too much. It just kills me, anytime I say ANYTHING she starts throwing around the A word (apostate BTW) and that's what I do not want. I was trying to help her to see that the way WTBTS handles DF;ing is not the way situations were handled in the bible and things made sense to her. So she wanted me to e-mail her the scriptures in question so she can then e-mail her brother (a Bethalite for 35 years) so he can help her to see the light. I'm afraid that will lead to the A word being thrown around more.

I'm torn. I feel it's in my best interests to shut my pie-hole to save my own butt but it's hard to see her believing these things and wondering how she will view me when I'm out. BTW, I was raised in the tr.....tru.......truth but we were never very strong. She has been weak spiritually her whole life, up to now, despite my best efforts to encourage her while I was a believer. Now that I'm on my way out, she is on her way in.

Dangit, between her and my wife I feel I'm doomed to be labeled an apostate and shunned for life.
