June Service Meeting part: Marriage, separation and divorce

i'm curious as to why this is a national topic for a service meeting part?

has anyone any thoughts on this?.

Another growing concern is the amount of brothers marrying very young sisters, some widowed no longer than six months taking up with sisters half their age.

WHY is this a 'concern'? First there is absolutely nothing wrong with an age gap - either way? Secondly the woman (or man) always has the option of saying 'get lost' or whatever.

Most people who believe that age difference is a problem have a problem with jealously. Either they are jealous that their mate is getting (or seeking) the attention of someone younger or they are jealous of someone who is with someone much younger and they have no chance to be.

Were you ever DF'd? For what and how long?

i was df'd when i was 20 or so for fornication.

i got reinstated when i was 24. i had a son during that time and i was worried about us if we didn't get back to the fold and 'protection' of the organization.

The 'for what' should be irrelevant as it should only ever be for 'lack of repentence'. Anyone remember when the year minimum was changed?

Going back to one of the earlier posts re: 60% sisters; 40% brothers.

That is an often mis-quoted statistic. The only reason there are more sisters 'in the truth' is because more women are called on who come in without their husbands.

When it comes to single available bros/sis's the percentage is definitely reversed.

I used to go to parties every week for over 10 years and there were always more brothers than sisters there.

Rutherford 1942 "Don't have kids till after Armagedon...Watchtower 2008 same advice!! Sick!

i was shocked to read in the "witnesses only" study watchtower this stupid rutherford policy was still in place, compare.. rutherfords last book "children" {ironic title} 1942 - page 281 "wait until after armagedon to bring children into the world...it is only afew years...until armagedon...those with infants will have greater woe...it will be a far greater difficulty to care for them during the tribulation...".

so if you were 20 years old in 1942 and waited......till 2011.....do the math.. wachtower 2008 april 15 p.19 "heading: "single and childless for a noble purpose.

" ...numerous couples have decided to remain childless...to remain free to serve jehovah...putting kingdom interests above some of the privledges that go with marriage...jehovah will not forget...there will be a great tribulation...it will be a difficult time for us adults and children alike...".

Following on from the previous post. Any guesses as to how many JWs there would be today if not one of them had had a child since 1942?

English-language congregations in non-English speaking countries

i am under the impression that english-language congregations outside of the united states must serve a purpose, other than just being the place where the missionaries can hang out and catch the occasional english speaker.

i think it's also a way to find the smarter guys in other countries and teach them the language and the jargon they will need if they ever climb up the watchtower corporate ladder.. what do people think?.

IMHO

The problem with them that many of the 'locals' move in to learn English. They are looked upon favourably as they have moved where the need is great yet there is a bigger need within their local language territory.

Then the local brothers get used on assemblies and conventions because of their zeal yet those who speak English as their mother toungue can hardly understand their accent and broken English.

I know many believe (or believed) what has been said but it makes no sense to me.

If that were the case then those who are ressurrected (or not) would be governed by pot luck.

What if one died the day before they were disfellowshipped as opposed to the day after?

What if one died the day before they were reinstated, or the day before the elders decided that one should be?

What if one died the day before they committed the 'offence' as opposed to the day after?

As far as I'm concerned we are all imperfect. Therefore we all may die and at death our payment for sin is paid as quoted above Rom 6:7
