But then again how many women still like the old fashion way? and still keep us around to diversify the genetic pool for posterity?
ME ... ME!!! [raises hand]

ME ... ME!!! [raises hand]
my boyfriend was a jw for most of his life, he is no longer participating in the religion.
we are not married and i'm now pregnant.
does any one know and can advise me what i can expect from his parents once they find out?
In the absence of his parent's support, will he stand up for you and your child? That's the big question.
I believe that to be the biggest question of all, because in the end, you live with HIM and not his parents. What if he is disfellowshipped because of his relationship with you? If he has the calling to return as a JW, your relationship with his parents will be the least of your worries.
This should be a joyous time of your life, and he should be there to support you.
i have a question.
the wt insists that its members shun those who don't believe anymore and also to avoid those who don't believe but were never associated with jw's.
then why did jesus spend half his life speaking to the pharisees and non-christian people he met on a daily basis?
I don't think that the Watchtower really cares what the history says. They like their policy because it helps them control the flock. The "Bible" has little to do with it.
I couldn't have said it better. If the Watchtower was truly concerned about history, issues as 607 and misquotations out of context would never arise. It's just a matter of twisting everything to their own advantage ... control, control, control.
looking back, being a jw meant constantly analyzing and categorizing others.
on field service, persons were either "sheeplike" or "goatlike".
in the congregation it went even further.
It amazes me how many brothers and sisters can quote scripture but forget the one about pointing out Matthew 7:3-5:
Just goes to show how much in they have in common with the Pharisees! The very same group of people Jesus himself condemned for their hypocrisy.
this is an idea that really freaked me out when i was still "in".
i asked it several times in groups of friends, and i would get two reactions: confusion/not understanding, and silence/looking at the ground.
if you die, and your body disinegrates, and the soul doesnt live on; in fact, nothing lives on, then what is resurrected?
what happens with born dead or aborted babies. i suppose they can't be resurrected in their mother's womb. they also can't live outside their mother's womb. they also can't be resurrected several years older. so are they resurrected at all?
This debate bugged me as well. They say Jehovah recognizes an unborn child as a "life", but then turn around and say babies won't be resurrected. Some go even further to say that a stillborn child will not be resurrected because it never took a "breath of life".
How is that supposed to make sense?
Dear God, I can't believe that I'm having this conversation
Hmmmm ... you're sounding more and more like the laundry expert. Now I know who to contact when I need laundry help.
the alternative to doing laundry is stinking
And we wouldn't want that to happen now ... would we?
Sorry to hear about your sweater's demise. Can't say I know how to undo what's done, but on the other hand, you're doing "woman's work" now? [heh heh]
so i recently attended an assembly day, and this added ammo as to why i am turned off:
- they did a very good job saying how anything that is not 'of jehovah' is worldly and from the devil.
so black & white.
They specifically said "The ONLY road to salvation and everlasting life is thru the Watchtower Organization".
Oh yeah? In my book something can only be new if it never existed before. Therefore, "new light" only exists where there was darkness.
There are so many examples; 1914, 607 BC, the "generation" change ....
The true road to salvation is supposed to be a well-lit one ... something the WT can't claim.
i've made mention in a couple of recent posts how some witnesses have come to my house.
i wasn't home but received a note.
in the development where i live, there are a couple of families that go to the local kh.
Is it just the fear that was instilled in me since childhood or am I just cowardly?
I can totally relate to what you're saying. At the beginning of my fade, I used to ask myself the same question. With time, I started to fear the JWs less and live my life more.
I think that the instilled fear may be at the root of your dilemma.
