Michael Jackson as a JW ...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles indo you believe that the jw factor in michael jackson's life contributed in any way to him being a misfit of sorts?.
i'm wouldn't describe myself as a fan of his, but sometimes i just feel so sorry for the poor guy.. and now it's even worse!
he's responsible for children who're probably thinking that it's everyone else who's weird!

I'm wouldn't describe myself as a fan of his, but sometimes I just feel so sorry for the poor guy. Here you have someone with indisputable talent from childhood with a pure love for performing ... but a child nonetheless. Perhaps the requirements of his performing childhood conflicted with his JW indoctrination and he simply couldn't cope with it.
And now it's even worse! He's responsible for children who're probably thinking that it's everyone else who's weird! The seclusion they must live in could never be healthy. What about their social skills? I'm scared for them.

You no longer need to be a JW to get into the New System..???
by OUTLAW inwhen i lived farther up country..i had a car load of dub ladys come to the ranch..i told them they supported an organization that would kill everyone but jw`s.thats what i was taught when i was a kid..they said "no",that decision will be made at armageddon..??
?..i figuered "theocratic warefare stratagey"..they were lying to me!.....i talked to my mom a few years later and made the same comment..she said "no,that decision will be made at armageddon.??
?.this is the person that taught that doctrine to me.i just rolled my eyes.more "theocratic warefare stratagey".that woman woud lie in a heart beat for the wbt$.....yesterday the subject came up on a thread and hillary_step said the comment is true.....hillary and i have been friends for years,he totally blew me away..i could`nt believe what i was reading..he said the change had been made in the "90`s".....so now i have some questions for those who are more up to date on this subject than i..hillary_step,if your kick`n around please chime in.......#1:when did the wbt$ decied to quit preaching only the jw`s would get into the new system?..#2if you no longer need to be a jw to get into the new system, why bother?..#3:dieing at armageddon because your not a jw,was a gun to your head to join the jw`s.what do they use now?.....this isn`t the same religion i walked away from decades ago..this,the un scandel, the generation change, blood factions now acceptable..the wbt$ is morphing before our eyes and jw`s dont see it..lol!

Some outrageous counsel I received once ...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles ini was reading an earlier thread about ridiculous counsel and i just had to share this one with everyone.. you know how sometimes around christmas time merchandisers would package their products in a more "festive" wrapper?
the largest bread company here does that every year.
well one yuletide season (when i was about 7 years old), i was helping myself to a couple slices of bread and my aunt saw me.

There I was... caught red-handed ... eating out of a (get this) ... "christmas bag"!!!!
Of course she found it quite appropriate to counsel a 7-year-old child for eating out of a "christmas bag". Isn't counsel just great?

BRANCH ORGANIZATION MANUAL
CHAPTER 25/ PAGE 150
23. THE TRANSLATOR'S RESPONSIBILITY:
Serious responsibility rests upon a translator, who must see that what is published in the English is translated clearly and exactly for the non-English edition. The translator should get the true spirit and understanding of the material and then make an accurate translation. Quality should never be sacrificed for the sake of production. You have noted the high quality of the language used in the English Watchtower and Awake! magazines*. A translation should be of the same high quality in grammar and in choice of words. Translations of publications should be understandable and easy to read. Above all, they should convey the truth as it is expressed in the original English. The translator is not the author. He has no liberty to insert his own ideas, nor is he authorized to summarize a paragraph and put it in his own words. - Compare Luke 1:3,4Oh really? Then why are the New World Translation's translators anonymous to protect the "Organization"?
CHAPTER 25/ PAGE 153
50
. It is important that translators keep their work confidential. Apart from the responsible brothers and those involved in the project, others (including marriage mates and other Bethelites) do ot need to know (a) what is being translated and (b) who is translating a particular item. No publication should ever be associated with a particular person. This is especially so in the case of Bible translators. This confidentiality protects both the organization and translators.* HAH HAH..HEE HEE GUFFAW!!! ROFLAO!!!!!!!!!!!
CHAPTER 25/ PAGE 151
31. While the translator's aptitude is important, a good attitude is even more important. So a translator's spiritual qualifications cannot be overemphasized. Younger brothers, though, do not have to be ministerial servants to be considered for translation work. Where possible, translators should not have weighty family responsibilities. Persons in full-time service are preferred.
So let's get this straight ...
1.
The translator's attitude is more important than his aptitude(Translation: he should demonstrate no independent thinking, and should be a "yes man")
2.
He shouldn't have weighty family responsibilities; persons in full-time service are preferred.(Translation: family life plays no part in measuring spirituality or spiritual qualifications, only pioneering does)
I believe I did a pretty good job with the translation ...

It's experiences like this one that make me wonder about the JW definition of love.

Husband made them run away
by muse inmy husband, never a jw, is at home because he has a broken arm and off work.
a couple of days ago the door knocks and two jws are at the door, a man and a woman.
the man starts to make conversation and hubby says that he is not interested in organised religion.
-
Frequent_Fader_Miles
That's showing them hubby! Maybe the "Holy Spirit" would open their eyes because of his standing up to them.

For you "sisters" who married in the "Truth"...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles injust a poll question.
at the first convention/ assembly following your wedding ... did you parade around the convention site gloating in other sisters' faces, showing off your new husband?
i've never done it, but i can't help but suspect that others do.
-
Frequent_Fader_Miles
Thank you all so much for your responses. I guess my hunch was correct after all. My husband is what they would call 'worldly' and I show him off anyway. No need to show him off at the conventions or assemblies ... seeing that we certainly wont be attending any of those time wasters.

The "perfect human" being ...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inaccording to the jw belief, what definition/explanation were you given for the concept of "human perfection"?
what exactly would make a "perfect human" ... well... perfect?.
i remember once when i was a child, my mom told me that when i decided on my adult profession, i should make sure it's one i would be able to use in the "new system".

**Threestars** You said "My Mom now tells people that "science" dragged me away from the "Truth". Does she realize that Jehovah would have to be the greatest scientist ever in existence to achieve such feats of creation? I'm impressed with your DNA explanation .. never even thought of it that way. Then again if Eve was created from a rib ...
**anewme** You said the following: "thinking ability would be able to grasp all the concepts needed to make good judgments and provide for itself and its offspring."If that were so, then how come Adam and Eve (as perfecthuman beings) both made decisions that turned out to be so detrimental to their offspring? Jesus was also a perfect human for a time, and when he was 12 years old he made a decision that made his parents sick with worry ... when he remained in the temple without his parents' knowledge. Don't we make decisions based on our life experiences which are all different?
I just can't help thinking that even in a state of "perfection", variables would still exist. Would a group of "perfect" human beings all have the same abilities, thoughts or aspirations? Even in the physical sense, would everyone look alike? What about our individual preferences (likes and dislikes), would that be out the window in the "perfect world"?
