Why is it ...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles ini might be a fader, but my question still stands.
why is it that i can marry a perfectly decent "worldly" man - good provider, never married, no children, generous ... yet i'm "marked"; while another "sister" can wait out for a presently "married" brother who admits he loves her, claims his marriage is problematic, claims he's getting a divorce ... and no one bats an eyelid?
do they really believe the stupid "jw tag" is sooooo valuable?

It does seem a bit coincidental on his part that he was phoning randomly and that he knew who you are. I'd be a little bit suspicious about his intentions.
I certainly agree. Sounds like the introduction to another one of their lame, insipid "encouragement chats" to me. Wonder exactly what he would've told the police? He called you first!

Finally starting to understand faders...
by ex-nj-jw ini haven't been posting for about 2 weeks, just kinda lurking, reading other posts, but not participating because i started to feel like i had nothing interesting to add, my life experiences, personal issues were just not very interesting to others on the forum, i felt.. i also started reading coc as well as reading old posts and reviewing the links from "old timer" jwd members.
see, i never got deep into this cult, 18 years from birth to end and i was outta there!!
i never pioneered, never had the ms or elder husband, although i dated a ms, he was only 19 early 20's at best (i was only 16) but that didn't last.

I like the comment someone made about the double standard. Child molesting is okay if no one saw it, but kids who confess to making out is condemned. What a joke.
Double standard indeed. I faded because I was just tired of "jumping through hoops" fruitlessly. Then when I married my "worldly" husband I was "marked", whilst another "sister" had a presently married "brother" making advances towards her (which she accepted), claiming he was getting a divorce because of marriage problems ... and no one pays any attention to that.

That's right ... take charge of the situation. Another person can only have as much power over you as you let them have.

I Need A Comeback Statement
by journey-on inwhen i suggested to my jw sister that the wts has caused so much pain and division in our family, she told me it was because my brothers and i had made the choice to leave.
we were responsible for the division---not the society.
we are the ones that chose to leave the love and protective shelter of jehovah's organization and we are the ones that have the choice to return to the fold.. i need an intelligent comeback, preferably one that will plant a seed, not one too sarcastic.

So then ... the most Supreme Being in the universe made me a free moral agent with free choice, and some Old Fogeys from "La-La-Land" in Brooklyn can't return the favour?

Did it ever occur you were defiling your body too?
by NotaNess in"no smoking".... it defiles your body and goes against scripture.. so as a witness, when pushing this train of thought, did it ever occur to anyone that when ever you dug in to those fried eggs, bacon cheeseburgers, and gallons of icecream, you were doing the same exact thing?.
smoking over a long period of time can kill you.
eating artery congesting foods over a long period of time can kill you.

Maybe the Society should stipulate that interested persons who are overweight should slim down to their ideal weight before taking the questions for baptism. I guess that would've counted me out of the JW ranks.

Bluesapphire: I love your approach to the situation.I mean, it's not like they can break down your door and come in or anything. If you don't care, you just dont care ... that's all.

If I was baptized as an infant ...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inif i was baptized into another faith as a baby, and never made concerted effort to cancel it ... does that nullify my jw baptism as an adult?
-
Frequent_Fader_Miles
I was baptized as English Catholic as a baby and never disassociated myself from that baptism. That rule was never enforced in my case ... guess they were really hurry to get me baptized.
